Have stats for Knight Errant guards been published anywhere? I can obviously wing it, but I like to base my improvisations off published material whenever possible. The NPC is a very high-level corp exec. Thanks in advance.

I do not remember explicit stats, but Corp Download pg. 126 says Professional / Weapons Skill 5+ / Security Procedures 4+.
MJBB may help, but I would not know. |

Yeah, I seem to remember weapon skills at around 5, and physical attributes at 4 or 5.
I always thought that was pretty high...maybe eating doughnuts makes you level up, or something. |

Knight Errant aren't typically 'beat cops' or grunt-level security, though. They're generally considered a higher class of security operative. Ares' other security firm, Hard Corps, are less skilled and less well trained.

Remember KE Firewatch is the only canon security force that may be Ultimate, beating even the Superhuman Red Samurai.

They would fall under Superior, meaning 30+ karma better then your players. Also better equiped, and backed up by a force that would drop most small Europeian countries.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that all of the megacorps' special ops teams were approximately equal: Red Samurai, FireWatch, Leopard Guards, etc. Where are their stats? Have they been 'ranked'?

LoneStar officers are in New Seattle, with stats.
(I would have suggested the Elite officer, pg.114 as template, but he has an assault oriented skillset and is a bit light on the ware, especially on senseware, for a bodyguard) Most of the units are ranked but have no stats, as was the intention of the ranking system. The skill levels for Ares are already "extra" under this system. One could alwas use the training qualifier and hold it against the skill level description from SR3main, but that does not work very well, imo. I.e. Red Samurai, Corp. Download, 135, superhuman and professional, rough gear description. |

In any event, this isn't a FireWatch team protecting the exec: just a handful of Knight Errant squaddies.

This isn't necessarily true. Knight Errant when used as a security detail is higher class. But Knight Errant used as a police force, such as the one in Detroit, cannot be considered to be better than Lone Star. |

Okay, granted. But in this case it's KE Seattle and the squad is a small detachment hired by an exec to supplement his corporate security detail. The stats provided in Corporate Download should be adequate. |

Well, there aren't really stats. It just says at least Superior and Professional. The third adventure in Wake of the Comet has stats for a KE Firewatch team, however. |

Using guys from The Corp Security Handbook really comes in handy for this.
(prices are my own, based on what I figure they make for a year, divided by 200. This is what it costs KE. If it's not an Ares exec, double the cost, representing KE's profit margin.) For your standard exec, fairly high value employee, this is the team you assign. one Executive Protection Adept, :nuyen: 300 one Executive Protection Specialist, :nuyen: 300 and 4 security guards. :nuyen: 400 :nuyen: 1000 a day. If it's a more valuble asset, add: one Executive Protection Mage :nuyen: 300 one Executive Protection Rigger :nuyen: 300 one security officer :nuyen: 200 four more security guards :nuyen: 400 :nuyen: 2200 a day, plus an armored limo. If they're worth more than that to protect, keep them locked up inside, assign the big team, plus another rigger, a Panzer, as well as a team of Firewatch on call in a nearby room. And hire a team of runners to work the streets and pre-empt any extractions, hits or even unwanted contact. |

Typical physical stat: 2
Typical mental stat: 1 Typical combat skill: 3 All other skills: they have NO other skills Standard issue gear: A pistol clip (empty) and 300000 nuyen on a registered credstick. Cyberware: old rusty wired 1 that makes squeaking noises when they walk. They start off wounded, blind and deaf. The joints in their armor are all gunked up so they can barely move. In fact, the armor offers so little protection that it actually *attracts* bullets. Especially from a Colt manhunter. Also they rarely follow orders, preferring to run away from any serious conflict, dropping their registered credstick to cover their escape. Very crafty, that. (Needless to say I am in Velocity's campaign - help me out here guys and gals) Nova |

I lied to you before, velocity. Nova got it right, almost.
If you really read the reference I gave you, you already know. The basic KE grunt is totally weak, because is signature is just 4 (3 in case of trolls) due to low essence and superthyroid gland. He barely manages to compensate by his high mastership of weapons. And indeed, not only are they weak, they also carry much loot. Whatever is left of the 30 APDS rounds for their assault rifle, for example. (Yupp, only one clip. Luckily. Nobody ever reloads). Or the heavy sec. armor. Or the battleTac recievers. I´m sorry. Forgive me? |
