as it stands, my program is 725 x 550. i would like to go a little bigger, but again it's a question of the users on the obsolete end of things...how many are there - is it a large enough number that i need to plan around them?

thanks for taking the poll!

I run 1600X1200, that's the best my monitor does. Ever since I switched to 21" monitors back in the good old days before the Tech Bubble Burst, I've alwas used that resolution. I used 1024X768 on 15", and 1248X1024 on 17".

It is not always easy, but I suggest making the program work in a resizable window, so a user can have a minimum 725X550 like you are talking about, but that they can use more space if they have it.

Of course, that concept doesn't always work, but I always try to make it so if I can when I write Programs.

I think 10X7 is a safe bet. Its much better then the older resolutions, but everyone can still use it. Anything higher and you risk a lot of people not being able to use it well.

I'm on 1248x1024 right now, but when it came to downloading wallpaper, I generally use that size anyway, as it tends to scale better, when it comes to differing screen resolutions (as 800x600 tends to get slightly pixelated when you're running 1248x1024)
