Added some insights for Mato - let me know if you want any more specific information - with five successes you are familiar with all his old work and have seen his new channel as well. Also, you know the address of the club and that it's definitely not for poor folks. Rich kids like to hang out there as well as a lot of posers.

Wait, rereading it, it sounds like Saeder-Krupp was the previous investigation, and this new investigation is totally separate? So it's not a potential story about Saeder-Krupp, in theory that content has already aired?
Follow-up questions: Is Mato familiar with Martin Marten? Is Felicitas' representation of Martin Marten accurate from the view of an outside third party?

That is my understanding as well.
It does show, also, that there could be some pretty big players involved.

Yes, the new investigation is not S-K focused, but it appears they found some old data chips in an abandoned S-K facility that they are using in a future segment.
Martin Marten is not a parkour enthusiast - he is a classic armchair expert, who does a lot of reaction videos and mainly uses drone footage if he visits abandoned places. He has high output, but mainly cheaply produced.

Hi, reality is a bit dystopic so I was slow. My neighborhood took two hits from ballistic missles in the last two days. No damages personally but it is a bit of a warzone. Two friends had to leave their home and many broken windows in the nearby streets.
Made a fun post about being late to the party, so there is a silver lining. Sort of.

I've been thinking about you and your family in all of this. I'm glad you have been safe so far, but the stress and disruption must be intense. I hope the fictional dystopias give a nice escape, when you can get there
Gilga

Its more intense than anything we had until now, damages very big as well. I hope its the end of the two years nightmare though.

SR is kind of an escapism part of the routines that I can keep up regardless of stuff. Almost anything else get/got disrupted in the last years numerous times due to not always being able to physically meet. Digital hobbies in a way are a constant (well as long as we have Internet access).

I guess it's Tamarind who has to answer the question of the guard - or whoever rides shotgun
Tecumseh
Jun 23 2025, 05:37 PM
Question: if this is a 5 minute walk from our place, is it the same neighborhood or a different neighborhood? If they're the same, we can just say, "We live here." If they're different, is there a 'border' between the two where you have to cross security? Because if not, we can just go home and walk.
Jack_Spade
Jun 23 2025, 06:32 PM
Different gated community - just next to your neighborhood
Beta
Jun 23 2025, 07:02 PM
Do we recognize the individual guards? Or just from the same company?
=====================
@TableTalk Tamarind is competent at etiquette, but has minimal ability to lie. If anyone else wants to have their character offer some story about what we are doing then go ahead, else Tamarind will tell something essentially true, just omitting a few details.)
Thanee
Jun 23 2025, 07:58 PM
I don't see why we would need to lie to the guards here. I would just tell them where we are going. They will likely be able to see that on security cameras, anyways.

The scanner Mato is using:
[ Spoiler ]
Millimeter wave detection systems, also known as
cyberware scanners, process video taken in the millimeter
wave spectrum to identify the energy signature of
cyberware and concealed items (specifically weapons)
on a person. These devices can “see through” thick layers
of clothing and other concealment to identify items
from a distance of fifteen meters away. To determine if
the detector scans cyberware or a prohibited item, roll
the Device Rating and compare the hits scored to the
thresholds given on the Cyberware Scanner Table. Millimeter
wave scans can detect any non-biological item by
its shape and composition, assuming the item is listed
in the device’s database. If the threshold is reached, the
scanner detects the item/implant and notes its general
locations and type; additional hits provide more detail
(function, model, grade, etc.).
Cyberware Scanner R5:
5d6t5 1 hit, is this thing on?
Mato should generally be able to buy 4 hits on most Perception tests. I can roll if that's preferable.

There is a hidden safe in the master bedroom - cheap model with R3 security
The home security and entertainment system is a bit more sophisticated with R4 security host (A3 S4 D6 F5)
There are cameras (R2) but only outdoors and in the common rooms downstairs.
The mag lock is also an R4 model

Now with rolls!1) Drone swarm search, looking for little things not easily seen by people (tucked into a light fixture, behind furniture, a loose baseboard, or whatever)
Led by Kaa (sewer snake, can climb walls), supported by 4 kanmushi and 4 flying eyes for +9. Clearsight running on RCC R6/data processing 5 Intuition* 5+Clearsight 6+8 supporting drones=19 dice
* I haven't found where I stashed Rigger 5, but I think it is the RCC's data processing that is used in place of Pilot to establish attributes when the RCC is coordinating a swarm
Drone searching:
19d6t5 88 successes
2) Matrix Perception, looking for things running silent
Intuition 6 + computers (matrix perception) 7 + perceptive 1 = 14 dice
Matrix Perception:
14d6t5 8hot dice -- 8 successes to spot hidden devices
3) Trying to hack the outdoors camera, just for kicks. Sleazing it:
-Sleaze dongle 3, overclocker set to Sleaze, and in Datajack+ run the program for +1 sleaze giving sleaze 5.
- Logic 5 + hacking (devices) 7 = 12, vs rating 2x2=4
hacking outside camera:
12d6t5 5outdoor camera resist:
4d6t5 1(could just buy successes on this I guess -- from there copy it to go over in more detail later, and do a fast skim to look for anyone entering or leaving)

"Glowing brilliantly to the astral senses" ... this means they are magical in nature? Or just that there is a strong astral imprint on them?
Either way, seems like we should definitely take a closer look into that room...

Hi Jack I assume tagging the sensors would mark the physical location? or do we play hide and seek to find them?
Tecumseh
Jun 26 2025, 05:07 AM
What kind of lock is on the safe? Here are the options and, for my future reference, the test to defeat them:
Key locks: Locksmith + Agility [Physical] (Lock Rating, 1 Combat Turn) Extended Test. Autopickers (p.447) add their Rating in dice to this test
Transponder-embedded keys: Hardware + Logic [Mental] (Lock Rating, 1 minute) Extended Test
Maglocks: (Step 1 open it up) Locksmith + Agility [Physical] (Maglock Rating x 2, 1 Combat Turn) Extended Test, (Step 2 bypass anti-tamper circuits) Locksmith + Agility [Physical] (anti-tamper system rating) Test
There are other locks, like facial recognition or DNA scanners, but I doubt we're going down that route.
Mato should be able to handle both locks, but AM might have the better dice pool for the maglock(s).
Gilga
Jun 26 2025, 06:30 AM
she can also give a few more dice with improve logic, and or leadership.
So the next step is to crack the lock and unleash whatever is locked in that basement?

Finding the bugs is trivial once you detected their existence (cyberware scanner and/or matrix based tagging)
@safe lock: It's an R4 biometric lock, wifi connected to the security host.
@bugs: hacking them to trace where their collected data is sent too, is easy as well, but leads to somewhat of a dead end: the data is sent to a random advertising display in Downtown Seattle where anyone could retrieve the data if they knew where to look. Unless you are monitoring the device to catch the perpetrator during pickup, you won't find out who is behind this.

Main question here would be...
Is it possible to figure out, whether the data of the last few minutes (i.e. since our arrival) has been accessed / picked up, yet?
If not, it might be a good idea to remove it.

That is possible - hack the R2 display directly or the R6 host protecting it and access the log file.

Opening a mag lock is a control device action - though with that amount of successes, even a reduction of dice doesn't change the success

Electronic Warfare + Intuition [Sleaze] v. Intuition + Firewall
Alternatively you could have used
Spoof Command, Hacking + Intuition [Sleaze] v. Logic + Firewall, but for that you would need a MARK on Diego's commlink (which is offline, though you haven't checked that yet)

We're somewhere in Bellevue. If the the display is in Downtown then we're probably 20-30 minutes away, depending on distance and traffic.
I'm blanking on which drone Tamarind was referring to.
Is there a way we could passively monitor the device for when the data is retrieved? Do we have an agent who is up to the task?
