Typing the number 8 followed by a right paren in the body of a post inserts a smiley instead of the actual number. (see example below)
"...including a new identity (Fake SIN rating

"
should read "<
left paren>Fake SIN Rating 8<
right paren>
Any way this could be fixed?

Yeah, click the checkbox that says "Enable Smilies". It'll disable them for that post.
But if you want to both do that and use smilies... Either forget about the smilies or forget about your proper numbering system.
That, or just starting using a period after each number instead of paranthesis. (Id Est: 1., 2., 3., et cetera.)

You may get unlucky, I've had the good fortune of having my posts where I have an eight followed by a closing parenthesis be posts that have not included smilies. Unchecking "Enable Smilies" is indeed the answer here.

or, add a space after the 8 it might look a little silly (for a sin rating 8 ) but it should work

Or use square brackets around 8 [for a sin rating 8].

You've got a rating 8 SIN? Jesus Christ! Who do I have to [explitive] to get one of those?
