I'd like to take this oppurtunity to humbly request the starting of a folder for discussions on HouseRuling, System Mixing, Rules Experimenting. I believe such a folder may cut down on accidental/purposefull bashing, and give us NonCanon's a place where we can be free from RulesLawyers and NumberSpouters. . .
If such a topic folder is started and it does turn out to be a major mistake/disruption to/for everyone in the Forums I would be willing to resign from the forums in name, word, thought, deed, and spirit.

Why not just post in the first post that the rules you use aren't canon? It'd save you a lot of effort, since I seem to recall you never explaining that until the third page of bashing came to be.

or a SIG line, that says like "unless otherwise stated, everything should be assumed non-canon"

well one part of me says just let it roll like water off my back, the less logical side of me says "Well I'da think sombody'd figure out that most of what I post is so far out of canon as Oz is to Kansas somewhere 'bout the third or fourth posting..." and yeah I'm guessing it would be a good habit to get into to start every posting with an "I'm not a canon type of gamer so if anything goes against conventional rules please forgive." Unfortunately I don't always remember that and I kinda assume that those reading said posts might have a sense of humor 'bout the subject.

Exactly. Even in a forum dedicated to houseruling etc., there would still need to be some way to tell whether someone is talking about his own house rules or about canon at any given moment. You want people to know you're talking about your own house rules, include something like "Well, in my games we..." or "The way we run stuff like this is..." instead of simply stating a rule without saying where the rule comes from.

So you want a Lounge?
Good luck. They've decided to kill that, what? Three times here? Maybe four. I'm all for it mind you, but I suspect that adminsitrative personnel here might be a little reluctant.

No Paul, this thread isn't about your Lounge crusade
It's about a forum for, uh, discussing Shadowrun but not caring if any of the posts have anything to do with canon, which doesn't sound a lot like discussing Shadowrun to me. So it's about as appropriate here as the Lounge is.

In all fairness, it's more like discussing Shadowrun off-shoots, which IS SR related. It's just that, as AE pointed out, you're still going to have to specify what is and isn't canon in your game.

Be that as it may kind sir, as you can see it won't happen. For what its worth I understand why they won't do it, even if I disagree. And since it's their toy box they get to set the rules with which we play with the toys. (See, I ain't mad atcha!)
