Thanks you very much for the 411. I have not read Psychotrope, I'm afraid.
I'll search the net for a summary/review so I get the major ideas of what happens there.
Some of my players do roam this god-forgotten dark alley of the web, but not even one of them will dare defy my authority by reading below, or else their characters will end up selling old nutrisoy in a cheap bunraku house in Tenochtitlan.
This is what I want to do...
[ Spoiler ]
We are running a campaign in boston in 2061, we are following some of the year of the Comet plots, but we are certainly not going to go through System Failure because one of my players actually helped write the book, as well as SOA, so the groups timeline will necessarily be different.
In our present timeline the switch to a wireless Matrix has been happening in a gradual timeframe, akin to the cell phone explosion of the last years. The runners are involved in a series of low to mid level runs as they grow more experienced and develop emotional links to the setting and NPCs.
The main conflict so far arises from the rise of power of Novatech and the efforts of the Japanacorps (crippled by the corp war and the arcology botch) to regain initiative.
Ever since I read about Hitomi I have always thought really interesting the idea of having a corporate princess as a college student, attending to classes, going to parties and all.
As the campaign is moving towards some otaku intrigues, my idea is having the players involved in a run or two that connect them to Hitomi.
This can be played out later when the girl ascends to a higher position, maybe the runners can help her make some moves. Perhaps she can call on them to perform some high level action. etc, etc.
I dunno yet, hence, I am collecting information up to the moment some ideas come to me. BTW, we are like seven months away from this part of the campaign, but I like to plan ahead.
So far the campaign is doing very well, lots of fun and "flowing smoothly".
Thank you very much for the interest taken.
Cheers,
Max
