Is Greenwood close enough?
We play every other Sunday 1-5, next meeting 10/26/03, at Game Times. It's located on Madison southwest of Greenwood HS.

You'd have almost the same length drive as me, about 1.5 hr. one way. At least it's on the way to work.

ok tisoz I got the e-mail, i might have to work but if not i'll show up with a char ready to be checked over for approval, and if he won't work then i'll play one out of the BBB unless i have the time to adjust/remake one there. I'm gonna drop by Game Times Later today or tomorrow and maybe buy a few books (( lol i only have the BBB but i've skimmed and read parts of others )).
Also FYI i've roleplayed for over 5 years with some friends including various games (( DnD 2nd ed, DnD 3E, Starwars (( d6 system )), Starwars D20, Startrek (( both old and new editions )), and Shadowrun on and off for about a year. I know a bit about the system but the GM played with improvised rules mostly (( a friend of mine that didn't want to read the rules but loved the story line, arg i hated that )) so i'll catch on quickly but i'll need some help learning/re-learning the rules.

You shouldn't be a problem, I think one of the players is new to SR, or at least we need to remind her what dice to roll. (Only skill, not skill plus attribute.)
I also remembered a couple more restrictions for anyone else that may be lurking, it is a semi-open game. Since you didn't say you had the companion, I doubt they apply to you. No racial metatypes from companion, no shifters, no ghouls. We are using advanced lifestyle rules similar to those given in SSG, I guess, I don't have that book. No starting initiates.
Also the campaign is is currently in the autumn of 2060.

ya I was at the shop and chatted with the owner for a bit, i'm not sure if i'll be able to make it this sunday (( might have to work )) but i have all the sundays in december off so i'll be there then for sure.
While i as there i bought the companion (( i assumed that there were no metatype variants because they only give rule for creating one using the point system )) and MitS. I'm planning on being an adept just because they are my favorite type of char. Maybe you could give me some info on the adept you already have so i don't accenidentaly make a clone as far as skills and specialties (( that wouldn't be fun for either of us, would take that special somthin each character brings to the team out of it. )) but here is a very brief sysopsis of what i have for my char already.
Name: John Wolf
Street Tag: Hunter
Race: Human - Ameri-Indian decent
Age: Late 20s to early 30s
Build: a little taller then adverage, and about adverage weight, free flowing shoulder lenght black hair, and piercing green eyes.
Archtype: phsyad - Mage-Hunter
Discritption on Arch-type: Specializes in hunting down Mages and Shamans, strong resistances to Magic and Astral Tracking.
Street Jobs: Bounty Hunter, Bodyguard, and Tracker
Weapons of Choice: Remingtion 950, Colt Americana L36, Defiance Shotgun (( short Barrel version )) and Whips (( not sure if i can afford it at char-gen but it will eventually be a weapon focus ))
Also what book is SSG?

The physad is one of the newer players, and I have been missing some of the game days he has not missed, but in the couple times we played together he seemed to be a stealthy melee guy. I will try to get the low down on him this weekend and let you know.
The bad part is, there doesn't seem to be a lot of PC-PC trust (or maybe it's just 'cause I'm an elf and everyone trusts everyone but me:)), so he may not feel like offering hard stats, but hopefully I can get an overview of what he thinks his character can do.

Oct 25 2003, 03:56 AM
lol ok I finished up Hunter, but i'm gonna turn around and make an elf Magician's Way Adept also. In truth i like playing elves and orcs the most but it seams yer already orc heavy and had the token, or tolken (( ha ha ha bad jokes are so funny )) elf. Focuses on unarmed combat and Magic. I've been toying with the story idea of a Weapon-X type char, not a wolverine clone but the weapon-x syndrome, ya know a Living weapon with no knowledge of his past once he has broken the conditioning.
Giving him a strong mix of Magic, adept powers and just a touch of cyber for fun. Couple that with animalistic social skills and no knowledge of the modern world (( Broke the conditioning in the wilds, and survived like a predator until his old persona re-emerged from the damaged and reconditioned personality centers in the brain. heres a ruff over-view of what i was thinking.
Real Name: Unknown
Street Name: None
Cyber: maybe bone lacing, or some dermal armor, maybe none this is really iffy right now
Adept Powers: Enchanced senses, lots of them, Killing Hands, Ranged Killing Hands (( can't remember the power right now )) Effective Magic Points 1-3
Spells: Healing, Physical Attacks spell, Mental attack spell, and a few animalistic utility spells.
I dunno it could be fun. I oddly enjoy playing characters with out too much mental power. lol I might whip up a troll with the emotional maturity of a 5 year old, then pick one char to latch on to for one reason or another.
ahh anyways, sorry for rambling like that i'm just excited to actually find a group to play again lol, i haven't played in over a year. Aside from that i should know better then to try and post rational thought here after playing poker (( i won 17.50 after a few hours of nickle, dime, quarter poker )) and drinking a bottle of jack lol.
Anyways I'll be working this sunday but i know for sure i'll be there in late november and december for sure to play.

Kind of funny but one of the elves real first name is Tolkien (his father was cursing Tolkien when the nurse asked what name to put on the birth certificate) and his street name is Token, because he was, at the time, the token non-ork.
Ork would be fine, probably have more reason to fit in with the majority of the group. When all are present we have 3 ork, 2 human, 2 elf. No trolls or dwarfs yet. Whatever race you choose will be fine.
tisoz
Oct 28 2003, 02:53 AM
Well, yesterday the physad didn't show, nor the elf covert ops specialist, or the drone rigger either. The ork face is changing characters to a rigger, I think as she left early and I didn't even get the new character's name or race. Also, the ork tech specialist's player is now playing a dwarf sun shaman concentrating more on spells than conjuring. Miss a week, miss a lot, I guess.
I also wanted to make sure we were running an open game. As it turns out, we are not, and the GM wants a max of 8 players, saying 6 is his ideal. This means we currently have room for at least 1 more. 2 people are talking about withdrawing, as they miss too many sessions, so there may be 2 more openings. There is also the guy that misses more sessions than he makes, so I don't know if he is counted in the total.
We have 3 people that make most sessions, 3 that miss some, and the 1 that makes a few.
Even now, your character is probably fine, we may be facing more magical threats though since we weren't magic heavy before.

Well, as it looks like I'm not going to be in Indiana much longer, I'm probably not a good candidate. Otherwise I'd be happy to give a go and try to fill out the team.

We meet on the R-H campus most Sundays, 5:30 'till we finish (typically in the 9:00-10:30 range). Team is a mix—part-time Rigger, Mage, Physad, Decker, and a Face. No real lasting plotline has emerged yet.
You're welcome to join in for a run or as a regular, whatever works for you. Just let me know and we'll work out the logistics.

5500 Wabash Ave. It's basically exit 7 off of I70, right off the off-ramp, another right at the end of the road, and a well-marked left onto campus.
Other than the second half of a run this weekend we won't be playing again until after break, but when we get back we should be starting another run. Any thoughts on what you'd be playing, archetype-wise?

Campaign stuff:
[ Spoiler ]
Setting: Seattle, 2056. Currently October 10, though it'll probably be a day or two later by next session.
Chargen info: points preferred with 128 BP. Priorities accepted.
Major houserules or optional rules:
Decking uses the SR3R program list.
Shotguns using shot only hit one target. The shot gives a flat -1 to TN. Choke no longer has a game effect.
APDS and AV rounds are only available for rifle-class weapons and larger.
Rifles and Assault Rifles are one skill, Rifles.
Explosives and grenades use 1/2 their distance-adjusted Power in dice to stage damage. Successes on things like throwing tests or Launch Weapons serve only to reduce Scatter or counter dodging.
When dodging AOE weapons, each success puts one meter of effective distance between the dodger and the origin. If this reduces the Power to 0 (before any other modifiers, such as armor or cover, but after modifiers like vehicle damage adjustment), the attack has been completely avoided.
I think those are the big things to know. Let me know if you have any questions.

It's the home of Rose Hulman Institute of Technology (a superb engineering school) and Indiana State University (Larry Birds Alma Mater that was in the NCAA basketball final almost 3 decades ago.) I think the Wabash River runs through it. There is a federal penitentiary there where one of the Oklahoma City bombers was executed. A fair amount of truck stops and a large dealer auto auction are located there.

On the SR3R, I only looked at things that had been decided upon as listed in your opening posts. Are there other things I need to look further into?
Is bioware that is only available as cultured allowed? Trauma Damper or Pain Editor is what I have in mind.
Can I use spell points to join a group and/or initiate? If so, is Oath ordeal ok? Will roll Meditation ordeal, but character is looking min/maxxed on Attributes at the moment, so should be a gimme. Really feel the need for invoking, and desire channeling.
The group I had in mind was going to include my contacts.
What kind and rating communication gear should I acquire?
Will I be screwed without a fake ID/credstick or is that kind of glossed over?
When I saw the time the game is at, I am tempted to have my character newly arrived to Seattle after escaping the Chicago containment zone. Have those events taken place in this game?
Any gaping holes that would be nice for me to cover?

It is. It is my intention, though I haven't gotten around to it yet, to announce the houserule removing the beta/deltaware at chargen restrictions as well as the cultured-at-chargen optional restriction.
Note, however, that the grade-modified Availability must still meet the chargen Availability rules. I never did think a couple of Betaware datajacks were particularly game-breaking.

There's a possibility that a space for you would open up, but since the game is located a decent distance past Indiana from where you're coming from, it's probably not a good match (just thinking about the drive makes me cringe, but YMMV).
As for comm gear, the standard encryption level is usually 5, but I haven't checked what this team has as they haven't split up significantly yet.
