Windows? For sure? There's no way I'm buying an Xbox 360.

Could only be that it's being released by Windows and FASA for the XBox 360.
Guess we'll know after E3. Hopefully.

You read too deeply into the source Windows/Xbox is an option field for that particular variable. And unfortunately it looks like Xbox was the only chosen toggle.

Now we just have to worry about it not sucking. I'm assuming that FanPro and Wizkids will have zero to do with this game?

Most likely. MS holds videogame rights to SR, so they don't really have to talk to anyone about it.
That said, FASA Studios is probably working on it to be at least something the PnP players will recognize, even if only minutely.

It's a shame it seems to be one of the few titles not appearing on gamesforwindows.com

Just read the newsfeed from Microsoft's E3 press conference. Shadowrun will be available on both 360 and Vista in January 2007.

It's official, check out the shadowrun site now. I blogged about at
Memepunks. It seems like an updated version of Counterstrike.
Give it a read for yourselves.

Its sounding alot like Deus Ex style. An FPS with RPG elements.

I'd like to think it will go the Deus Ex route, but Squad Based FPS, and upgrading gear after each round sounds very Counterstrike

It's very much counterstrike, by raw gameplay. Two sides, short rounds, simple goals, no persistence beyond several linked instances of play (IE - the gear you buy) and no single-player component.
It's a handsome game though, or I thought so.
Definitely one that will - finally - attract me to the FPS genre.

I can't say I'm with you on that.
Battlefield caught my limited FPS attention span for a few months, but thats because it was SO big.
Bunnyhopping/Dolphin Diving Elves and 1337 speaking, puberty consumed, spawn camping, teens telling me I should "lrn2ply" because they "pwnt" me every 3 mins, is a little excessive for me.

Yikes. Looks like MS/FASA screwed the pooch with this one. Seems SR fans almost universally hate it now. Aside from attempting to start some sort of new SR timeline, it also introduces some very non-SR magic concepts, has no matrix component at all, does some weird things to the races, and has a story that has basically nothing to do with anything from Shadowrun. So really, aside from the name recognition, I don't see why they would even need the SR license for this game. It's not Shadowrun at all. Even if it turns out to be a good shooter, I'm not touching it. I'm pretty ticked that they make us wait all these years for a new SR game, and then drop this drek in our laps.

And its not like Shadowrun has huge name recognition either...
