There's one of them in the General Gaming forum (check it out, you can't miss it).
By the way: Report function is still broken.

Please, when you can, post links to the threads to facilitate the offenders doom. Thanks

And I'll go take a look in a few. I'll also pass along the report function stuff to Mark.

The Spam crap seems to be a regular thing for now. Just ignore them, Adam or I or someone will delete the thread when we get the chance. *sigh*

Are the admins on holiday? There's three bits of spam in the general gaming forum (all nicely lit up with smileys), one of which dates back 4 days.

Sorry. I'm ultra busy, and so I'm spending almost no time on DS lately.

So... What? It's not killing you that they're there. They will fall down the last provided people stop relying to them (although some responses have been quite amusing).

Doesn't matter much- I just worry that letting them sit encourages even more spammers to attack.

They spam no matter what.
The forum I co-admin gets spammed a fair bit. We trash and ban their accounts almost immediately, but they still pop up every couple days.
Not much you can do about it, really.

Make it harder to get an account? Have them send back a confirmation email that answers a shadowrun question? Ok, maybe that's a bit too much.

Hey I was just asking a question and trying to help. No offense intended!
In the forum I used to admin I got the impression that failing to stomp on spammers (yes, I was busy occasionally as well) seemed to be like waving a flag and saying 'hey nobody monitoring this- bring it on!' and I suddenly got inundated. In the end I only got it under control by banning certain dodgy e-mail domains, which I'm sure DS does as well, but no it's never perfect.

since the boards are publicly accessible, trolls will search for keywords in posts. when they find a lot of discussion on a subject like sex, they'll spam thinking someone will think it's an actual post.
i tried searching for the keyword 'sex' but our search feature needs 4 letter words to search on, so i then searched for 'sexy' - i was surprised when i got 8 pages of results.
if we want to keep our boards open and not censor, like s*xy, then pretty much the only other options are to: leave the issue alone and delete the spam when it pops up, make the forums unreachable to non-members or make it harder to join (like having a picture with a word that you have to type in at sign-up or reply to an email to activate your account - or both) - or any combination of these.
just some suggestions. i don't care that the spam is there; it doesn't frazzle my hair - i simply don't stare and it makes those posts easier to bear.

No offense taken. I was just stating how it is on my forum (small as it may be, we're still targetted due to activity. In a mere six months of activity, we have almost 15,000 posts. And that's from around 20 active users).
As soon as a spammer gets your forum URL, they'll target it and spread the URL everywhere. Even if their spam is deleted straight away, they'll keep coming.

Adam says
here to not bother reporting every spam thread, as it just causes more clutter.
They'll get around to it. Spam happens.
