Full Version: What's your character's musical theme?

emo samurai
I haven't thought up one for Shen yet. He's very sensitive and generous, but when his sense of compassion is offended, he goes apeshit and melts people's skin off.

What about your characters?
Rock
Village People - Macho Man

Oh wait, that's my personal theme song.
JesterX
Many songs by Rammstein ^_^

My character is a German Rigger
Sahandrian
My current main character is an adversary shaman. I'm thinking "Terrible Lie" by Nine Inch Nails.

I used to have an ork merc who had "Feuer Frei" by Rammstein.

My elf face (Sahandrian) was something by Bon Jovi, probably "Bounce."

And my irish coyote shaman used to have something by Bad Religion, but now I'd say "Rocky Road to Dublin" by the Dropkick Murphys, or "Queen Anne's Revenge" by Flogging Molly.

Then I've run a couple deckers, another merc, another shaman... pretty much anything except rigger and mage. But those I can't rememebr any songs for.
SL James
Highway to Hell - All of them.
Crossfire
"End of the line" by The Travelling Wilburys would be an interesting theme song for one of my characters. He's an old mercenary troll going by the name of Crossfire, recently out of jail after being "inside" for about 25 years... he's old fashioned, out-of-date and totally incapable of doing anything but running the shadows... an old fart at the end of the line biggrin.gif

"Behind blue eyes" by The Who would fit perfectly my German burn-out mage named Wolfram. He's actually an ork who grew up in a radical, Humanis Policlub family. His parents were so ashamed of him that they paid the best specialists in the world to have him look like a "normal" human. He has been living a lie for a long time, hiding behind blue eyes...

Peace!

Crossfire

Thank the GODS you said The Who and not Limp Bizkit.

Worst. Remake. Ever.
SL James
It's Limp Bizkit. Did you expect something other than aural excrement?

hmmmmm.....i guess my darkelf monowhipe adebt would be Mad World from the donny darko sound track. cause most of the time he stands on his telephone poles or high buildings with his pet raven Poe, and watches the world go buy for no real reason other then to watch it.

That sounds very cool, in a dark, brooding, angsty way smile.gif

Personally... I thought the character he described was meant to be some kind of parody.

No offense, but...

NightmareX
For my all time favorite character Nightmare (male elf ex-Wildcat combat mage) it would have to be I Disappear by Metalica.

For Bloody Mary (female elf street sam) I'll say Die MF Die by Dope.

For my newest character, Silence (male human street sam) it's the song that inspired his back story - Never Again by Nickleback.
stevebugge
My Cowboy Face character - Some Girls Do by Sawyer Brown

Most of the rest are still getting themesongs attached.
thefather
i didn't mean to model/parody him after anybody. i always thought it would be ironic for all the people on the ground looking up at dark elf in a long black coat with tails in a tophat with an awakened raven on his arm humming mad world talking about him being stupid for being up there. while Kain watches the people below teem about in the other masses not knowing were there going being stupid.
DeadNeon
Many of my characters never lasted long enough to get theme songs attached to them. But some have.

John Arkham - Gunfighter Adept: Johnny Cash's version of Danzig's Thirteen

Juke - ork ganger turned sammie: Ice Cube's Check Yourself

Calvin Hobbes
Nujabes - Battlecry
3 Inches of Blood - Kill the Orcs
Witness
My Friend Dario- by Vitalic
hyzmarca
Fat Samurai - A gigantic half-burnt-out compulisve eater cybered adept who always wields an assurlt rifle in one hand and a katana in the other - prefers Born to Be Wild and has it piped through loudspeakers whenever possible.
Calvin Hobbes
Fat Samurai is now officially the best character I've ever heard of.
Dog
As a player, I dunno... but as a GM re-running the Big H 1 and 2, I gotta say that nothing fits Harlequin quite like Mike Paton (Patton?) Leaning more towards Mr. Bungle, methinks.
Platinum
My street sam: sweating bullets by Megadeth.
Glorian
No one's mentioned Pat Benatar's Invincible? Considering its theme and 80s origin, it screams Shadowrun character to me. Oh, and how can you beat Warren Zevon's Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner for conjuring up a vengeful spirit?
Nidhogg
My junkie-mage: Just Dropped In (to See What Condition My Condition Was In) - Kenny Rogers

My psychotic razorboy: Dream of Mirrors - Iron Maiden

My non-psycotic razorboy: Warriors of the World Unite - Manowar
Shrike30
Phil Briggs, my redneck bike-delivery drummer got Pepe Deluxe's Everybody Pass Me By.

Eddie Bax (a name we only figured out years later was from Johnny Mneumonic), the burned-out Lone Star detective on "administrative leave" while the death of his partner was investigated (and he punched, shot, and interrogated his way through half the Seattle Underground before dying in a one-on-one in a burning hotel lobby with the antagonist's right-hand gunman to save the rest of the crew) had the Apocalyptica cover of Metallica's Unforgiven.
SL James
I know one PC who's notorious for getting S+3 wounds before he actually kicks ass (he's like Van Damme or something). I suddenly realized for some reason "Niggas Bleed" by Notorious B.I.G. would be rather appropriate.

When we timejump to 2070, and if's she's still alive, I think the most amusing theme song for my social adept would be "Stacy's Mom."
Ankle Biter
Ankle Biter's Theme song is definitley "Ride of the Valkyries" his Steely Lynxs, and Van have bigass speakers specifically for that reason. He plays it whenever the run breaks cover, and "goes hot"

For my newer characters, Comedian is "Meat Sandwitch" by Gwar
Shiver is Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D minor"
BookWyrm
The opening theme from Read Or Die.

Updated: Also the track, "Battle Without Honor Or Humanity #2", from Tomoyasu Hotei's album, Electric Samurai (The Noble Savage).
Kremlin KOA
Kremlin (multi millionaire Playboy Troll): "It's fun to be a god" from the EL Dorado soundtrack by disney

Cinder(background): "This is how you remind me" Nickelback

CeeDeeCee(quadreplegic rigger and mad scientist): 'Hunger' Spectre General

Gonzales (speed demon dward with cyberskates (ex courier)): 'Nothin's Gonna Stand in our Way.' Spectre General.

GIT (rigger/hacker 4th Ed): 'Five O Five O' 69 Boyz

Silk (dwarf Socialite): 'Juke Joint Jezebel' KMFDM

i hate you!
SL James
Only because I posted it first. But, really? Anything by a Brooklyn rapper from Biggie Smalls on will do (*cough* Jay-Z *cough*). Actually, this whole train of thought is depressing me with thoughts of how the Orxploitation chapter of SOTA64 sat on my childhood's chest and took a massive steaming dump on it.

Moreover, be lucky I didn't mention that "Moron Brothers" by NOFX seems appropriate for him and his hetero-partner-for-life. Oh, wait. I just did. Woops.

As for other theme songs for Sam, a couple come to mind: Head Like A Hole (because it's badass, and physically appropriate), Angel (Massive Attack), Spanish Key (her favorite Miles Davis piece; also because by the time it's over you have no idea what the fuck just happened)

I'd have picked "Still Fly" by Big Tymers. If there is a better song to express ignorant mass consumption, I don't want to hear it (besides, that comment allows me to suggest that I have not heard "Rich Girl" by Gwen Stefani. I'm also not that big of an asshole).

QUOTE
CeeDeeCee(quadreplegic rigger and mad scientist): 'Hunger' Spectre General

"Damn if feels good to be a gangsta" - Geto Boyz. nyahnyah.gif

Heh.

"The only thing you can tell about a broken down old man is that he's a survivor." - Joe Sarno.

The theme to a blood mage villain in my game will be "Goodbye Horses" by Q Lazzarus, Jame Gumb's theme from Silence of the Lambs.

That reminds me opf my Amoral Social Adept

"Sympathy for the devil" Rolling stones or Guns and Roses versions only
SL James
There are moral social adepts?
Kalvan
The charecters of my previous runner group:

Kalvan: (Elven Former Wage Mage) Land of Confusion by Genesis

Meow Max: (Human Male Cat Shaman) Opposites Attract by Paula Abdul featuring M.C. Kool Kat.

Some Joker: (Dwarf Decker) Prime Audio Soup by Meat Beat Manifesto (and it was before The Matrix!)

Daisy Chainsaw: (Female Ork Adept[Way of the Warrior]) Kiss Me Deadly by Lita Ford.

Rumbler: [Troll Rigger/Samurai] Hero By Ministry.
Kyoto Kid
...for my six gun slinging katana swinging Adept, KK - Title theme from the film The Magnificent Seven

For my dark brooding Hacker/B&E Tech, Violet - Metropolitan Suite by Larry Fast

For my fun loving Cajun pugilist Adept - Jambalaya Hank Williams Sr. (also played by various Zydeco bands).

Jesus dude. Van Damme. You said it yourself. Bloodsport soundtrack!

Like, whenever you finally start getting good rolls you cue the faux-asian flute-themed mystical meditative power theme, jump on the middle of the gaming table, and begin throwing twisty jumping kicks in the air as the music picks up.

At the end, you must throw a high side kick and go, "MAAAAIIIIIIIIIII!"

Skat's a vocal technique. Scatman John's Scatman would be where I learned this, but it's been around for decades. Jazz singers are probably the ones best known for using it.

Actually, come to think of it that may be how he killed that spirit.

But the other song is also an homage to the brotha man being a fucking badass.

More recently, RHCP featured skat in Zoot Suit Riot

I just realized that Blondie's Maria is actually the perfect theme for GMs who are frustrated by PCs which are too powerful.

For my Shark shaman/Bounty hunter/former company man:

Gunman by Funker Vogt

QUOTE
now the race is on the run
so look out for your man
try to catch him in the woods
and kill him if you can

come on play the game
and catch the man
this is your aim
so do what you can

now the race is on the run
so look out for our girl
try to catch her in the woods
and take her if you can

come on play the game
and catch the girl
that is your aim
so do what you can

no the race is on the run
I am looking out for you
I catch you in the woods
and kill you if we meet

come on play the game
and fight for life
this is the game
where I will survive

chorus:
I see with the eyes of the hunter
no one can escape
I am a devil of a gunman
for you it is too late
