Yes, it's relatively peaceful. Hopefully it stays that way. I haven't had to ban anyone in at least a week. Kind of a nice break.

How often DO you ban people? And is it public? I remember being told to stay off the forums for a week, not that I'm bitter about it. It was rather funny, I must say.

Almost never. I have a much higher threshold for watching people tear into each other than Bull does.

And to be fair, I almost never do either. I hand out warnings left and right, but it takes a lot to make me toss down the Banhammer. I don;t think I've actually given any "time outs" to anyone in several months. Y'all have been mostly good

And no, it's almost never public. I think the only time I even mentioned that I was giving a week ban was during one of the SR3/4 flamefests early on, and I said something like "Stop now, I've baneed several folks, and I'll add more if it keeps going". I don't feel like it's necessary to drag it out publically. It can be embarassing to the particpant, is off topic for any conversation here, and can lead to further problems if someone decides they don't agree with a reason for a friends ban and wants to argue. The last point is one I especally like to avoid because, well, A) I don;t like being argued with when I'm wearing the Mod Hat, and B) I've never banned over a single offense or infraction. It's usually a cumulation of a bunch of events, and this last one will just be the straw that broke the Bull's back.

Dude, the wars I'm referring to are the ones over datajacks and shit. These used to happen all the time without my getting involved. And the only real war that I was involved in was the thread started by kryton.

If an institution can be collapsed by a thumbed nose and a few cheeky remarks, then it deserves to collapse. I'm not saying Dumpshock has collapsed, I'm just using the word "collapse" as a general term for all-around dysfunction.
