Full Version: The Santa worm

Got a question for the deckers in here. Any of you hit what's being called the "Santa Worm?"

A chummer of mine's boyfriend seems to have run into it and he gave away half his nuyen.gif to various charities. He said he just wanted to do some good with it. I checked out where he gave the money and they all seem legit and couldn't find a corporate link between them.

A decker contact of mine had a similar experience. He didn't remember hitting anything but said he just felt he needed to give lots of to his church.

Reports are of a Renraku decker who tried to do this and when he wouldn't give to corp charities alone, he got a trip to a holding cell. Can't verify that one yet. So anyone else hear of this unnerving trend?

OOC: I thought this was a new twist on the annual Santa Clause run, but maybe it needs to be in here to get an audience.

Cant say I have personally, but perhaps thats why my flat mates been trying to sneak out with my vinyl albums for the last few days. He kept muttering something about a yard sale and needing donations. If he walks out the door with my White Album again hes going to be donating his spine to the local children's hospital.

Sounds like IC or a worm with a P-Fix attachment. Pretty funny one at that, wonder if it will work on the major players. cool.gif

If you really do have chummers who have been hit by it, best thing would be to have a different hacker go over their comms to see if they can find traces of it, or its infection pathway.

I'm not to tech savey, that's why i have friends who are deckers, but none of the affected people will let me near there stuff.

Considering there's a rumor I once spilled hot soy caf on a deck i can't really blame them.
