The replacement of certain special characters with a "? + diamond" sign has already been mentioned by others.
As I have a special character (the Yen-sign) in my user name I'm currently unable to log in to Dumpshock from any browser/computer other than the one I'm using now (it still has a working "logged in" cookie) as the systems everytime responds with a "There is no user 'M?$T1C'" when I actually entered "M¥$T1C"...
I'd be very happy if this could be fixed.

Mystic, try deleting all DSF cookies and reloading the browser. Some server software changes mean that older cookies are doing weird things. For more info see these:

eidolon, it isn't that he can't log in due to cookie failure. It's that one of the characters in his name got, to put it simply, corrupted. So now he can't hit that key to log in.
He may need a total name change to get it working right again.

Right, sorry. Missed part of his post. Hopefully Adam will see this shortly.

You got it.
I actually tried eidolon's method with FireFox 2.0.0.1 on Windows XP but the only result was that Dumpshock denied my log-in as no user called "M¥$T1C" (with correct spelling!) is known - hardly surprising as I'm now "M?$T1C" to the system...
I'm now using SwiftFox 2.0.0.1 on Linux that still has a working cookie.

That might indeed be the only solution...

Or you need to figure out how to type the "?-square" character to log in. Could you possibly just copy-paste that strange character in order to log in?
Is that a stupid idea?

Myst1c -- I've temporarily changed your username until we can resolve this whole character-encoding issue.

It was a corrupted character -- one not recognized by any character system on any PC. Copy/pasting it would simply return a blank character (or, at least, something akin to it).
Unfortunate, but that's the risk when using non-"uniform" characters in login names. Sometimes upgrades make them break.
