Concept: The Magic on the Streets. An unusually high percentage of Awakened find their way on the streets and into the shadows. Unable to fit into the corporate-driven world they make their own way, taking what instruction they can from anyone willing to teach. Magic is not a new science to be unravelled, nor is it an exploration of the spirit realm. It merely is a part of someone, and you better learn to use it to survive.
Street Magic evolved from second or third hand instructed magicians and mystic adepts in the slums of the cities. Lacking formal training themselves these students learned from those that did and pieced together what they knew. They approach the study of magic in a pragmatic manner, taking multiple sources on a particular aspect and breaking it down to the essentials. Though many claim this leads to a purer tradition, the truth is the motivation to have an edge, to learn a more devastating spell, or simply become more powerful colours the practicioner's efforts. The results are the bare essentials of magical formulae and practices with little of the formalized ritualistic or rational processes that guide other magical forms. It is, essentially, magic with the safeties off.
