CollateralDynamo
Alright players from my GI thread, please make your first post here simply your character sheet. Keep posts over in the GI thread until everyone has had a chance to post their sheet so that it will be easy for me to reference once the game begins. Feel free to post near final copies of your character in this thread, simply edit the post when a change is to be made. Once I start actually running the game (hopefully Monday the 9th) no more edits and your characters are finalized.

Good luck, chummers!

Alright everyone, the action will begin today over in the IC thread.
CollateralDynamo
If you guys could tell me (either IC or OOC) what restricted or felonious pieces of gear you are bringing to the meet, that would be great. Also, if you want to do leg work you can either mesh it in with your IC post (using spoiler tags to tell me what skill you are attempting to use, along with your dice pool for my ease). Or you can just ask it in the OOC thread.

For instance: Jimson asked if Aaroth is familiar with Beacon Tap, he could have added:

As we are just starting out I will do my best to keep you guys informed of what your characters should know. But you know your characters better then I do. wink.gif

Jimson, Aaroth has heard of Beacon Tap before. Its an old pub, somewhat run-down. They cater to family affairs and allow people of all ages inside, as long as minors are accompanied by an adult. Aaroth knows that it is in some way affiliated with the MacAvoy Mafia family. Whether a front, legitimate business, or just favored hangout, Aaroth is unsure.

Thanks Collateral. I wasn't sure how to handle his Knowledge skills. I'll take you suggestion for future post.
DigitalOYABUN
Both pistosl and the Sport Rifle fall into the restricted category. The sawed off double barrel shotgun will stay under the seat...its restricted normally, but with that modification it may have edged into the 'F' category somewhat. Considering his occupation, his being an actual citizen, and the fact he's in Chi-town he isnt overly worried about cops. (He isnt after all a shadowrunner, .........yet)

the sport rifle will remain in the car for the meet, but you can see Pawnee doesnt sport any glaringly illegal items...like an uzi or assault rifles
crizh
I've only got two restricted items, my power focus and my combat fetishes and I 'seem' to have licences for both, assuming you are even able to detect them...
CollateralDynamo
Sounds good guys just wanted to get a running list for my own records.

Jimson, Aaroth knows that he was told to come "ready to go". Leaving his pistols outside in his vehicle might be slightly more polite, but as long as they are not obvious weaponry, it shouldn't be a faux pah for this type of meet.
Red-ROM
OK, everything Runt owns is restricted or felonious.
but he's going to have:
goggles w/ smrt link®
leather jacket w/ shock frills®
under his coveralls, he'll have a concealable holster w/ ares crusader®
additional clip®
the crusader has a pilot®
limping propulsion(F)
My commlink has a hot sim mod(F)
and many hacking programs®
Oh and I'm running a fake Sin(F)

DigitalOYABUN
Not sure you want that much immersion in the economic system, but I really dig the fractured society angle of Chi-town.
Red-ROM
@ C.D.- Runt's looking to stash his duffle bag w/ assault rifle somewhere near the meet. he'll search the matrix for large electrical junction boxes or water pump access. something he can access with a wrech or screwdriver. maybe the sewer, but he doesn't trust them to be unoccupied. the other option is a bus station locker if it's not too far.
data search 3+ encephalon 1+ browse 4 +hot VR 1:
[2,5,5,2,3,6,4,6,1] = (4)
knowledge skills:
electrical engineering 3 + intuition 4:
[6,6,1,3,6,2,3] = (3)

I don't want to hold you guys up, but this will affect my IC post

CollateralDynamo
@ Red-ROM: A bus station locker is the easiest option. Runt would be a little worried about being noticed by a roaming patrol man moving in and out of paneling or pumping station in the O'hare subsprawl, that is really more of an option for the corridor regions.

@ Digital: Yeah, the mixed economy thing is cool. But one thing to note, you are in the sub sprawls. Society almost actually exists there, almost entirely owned by the megas, that makes it nuyen country. UCAS money is taken by Ares and middle class people in most other regions, including the corridor. Hours are almost strictly taken by people up on the Northside who are working closely with the old government in the mall. Barter is par for the course on the near Southside and Cee Zee.

Thats probably good information for ALL of you actually.
Jimson
Hey all...I will not be able to post today (well, besides this one). I have off for Veteran's Day, and I'll actually be running a Shadowrun game (Ghost Cartels) with my buddies. We only get together about every other month, and its typically on holidays.
DigitalOYABUN
Good to know CD. At any rate it just showed how he spends most of his time in the CZ
CollateralDynamo
Thanks for letting me know about the lack of post Jimson. It might make our little Johnson meet go on longer then usual, but I'm sure Frankie will be getting a few questions from you guys, so you should still have time to jump in and do your face thing. Have fun running some good old fashioned SR!
Red-ROM
a note about posting.
I post at night, usually after 8. It seems like you guys post at work, or at least during the day. so my posts will be a little behind. I don't think it matters except when I need to ask something OOC and wait for a reply.so far this game is moving fast, which is awesome!
crizh
Well I'm in Europe so my posts will appear very early and will dry up during the late evening.
Red-ROM
@ digitaloyaban- Your last IC post confused me. Does your character somehow know my characters Last name?

@ digitaloyaban- Your last IC post confused me. Does your character somehow know my characters Last name?

Ha, lol, that's a bizarre co-incidence.

I think he's taking about me.
CollateralDynamo
@ Red-ROM: No problem on the posting late in the day thing. I can't expect everyone to have the same sched as me! I will attempt to check these boards to see if any of you guys have questions for me that are holding things up. That said, I am kind of busy at night, and probably will sometimes forget. Yes, I know, bad GM!

I'm trying to keep things moving, but without railroading you. As almost all runs consist of the Johnson meet, I'm sort of trying to get through the usual parts as fast as possible and still give you guys a chance to relate to one another. ALSO, even though I rushed you into accepting the gig, the fees, as with much in Chicago, are likely negotiable.

We will likely spend a day or two IRL posting questions and responses in the Johnson meet, but I could be wrong. Once you guys have no questions at all for Frankie indicating it here or in the IC thread in some way would be much appreciated, and would help us move the game along faster.
Red-ROM
haha- that makes a little more sense, didn't think of that when naming my character grinbig.gif
DigitalOYABUN
That is pretty funny. Yes, the Krieger crack is at the ghoul.
DigitalOYABUN
Man I should have taken prejudice Ghouls lol....Good mix and match, and dont be thinking you're just singled out....Runt will be getting called Jerry, Fritz, etc before long, and Aeroth...long ears, etc. Almost wish I'd played a smoothy with a weak metahuman bias, now wouldnt that have been fun? wobble.gif
Jimson
Oooh, we can always help you pick up those negative quality. grinbig.gif You'll be calling me Dumbo, Dandelion Eater, Fey Lover, etc. in no time.
DigitalOYABUN
True!

Poor road conditions arent really an issue for the Humvee.
CollateralDynamo
Poor road conditions won't cause you distress in the humvee. However travel times on things like googlemaps assume a highway speed (65ish miles per hour). A road littered with debris, collapsed on-ramps or (in the case of the more distant highways) ridiculous congestion from highway overuse, will all still slow you down. Your car may be great at offroading...but falling from an abandoned highway still wont do it much good biggrin.gif.

Also remember that you need to get off the highway fairly often to skirt roving toll gangs and the like...ohh Chicago.
Jimson
Do you have a map of Chicago from Feral Cities? I'd be interested in seeing how it looks these days (i.e. where the boarders of the CZ are).
crizh
Try this.

That might not work 'cos I didn't create it, YMMV. It's also from right after the wall went up 15 years ago so things might have changed but you can get an idea....
Jimson
It worked! Thanks.

A wall??? Wow, maybe it would be better for me to buy Feral Cities. So that CZ is surrounded by a physical wall? Are there checkpoints for going in and out?
CollateralDynamo
Crizh's map is from the SR3 days. Back then the entire region was under quarantine. The wall was a huge wall, nobody went in or out. I don't remember if they bothered to install gates or not, as the purpose was to completely halt all traffic.

In the SR4 days, the quarantine has been lifted. Ares and the UCAS have agreed that the city is "clean" of bug spirits. And they tore a bunch of openings in the wall to let people come and go. Most of these impromptu gates have been claimed by one gang or another charging a toll to the scavengers who frequently go in and out of the CeeZee.
Red-ROM
I also don't have ferral cities, Thats part of the reason Runt is from Germany. all maps are appreciated notworthy.gif

sounds awesome, don't forget the dwarf jokes, but fair warning, Runt is a Vindictive Jerry, as you may have noticed in my last IC post. We have a really good mix, I'm liking it. All we need now is a Troll technomancer spin.gif

Dumpshock has been down all weekend! I've been going nuts. VA beach got hit with a tropical storm, so I've been couped up with nothing to do.arrgh! But the sun came out today, and dumpshock is back online,so hopefully the nightmare is over.
crizh
So I've been looking for a good place in Southside to place 'The Lair' on and off for a week now and I've found a little gem that might be the ideal place.

Wolf Lake is a national park type area less than a mile from the edge of the CZ which seems to have avoided much of the environmental damage that the rest of the Calumet area has suffered.

Interestingly the map I posted and the one in Feral Cities differ in where the edge of the CZ runs. The map I posted is based on the maps in Bug City, the one in Feral Cities runs along 115th street all the way to the Calumet River and then follows the line of the river to Lake Michigan. The older map shows the CZ cutting in a straight line from the end of 115th street right across the river and straight out to Lake Michigan. While the Southern half of Lake Calumet is outside the CZ in both scenarios the Feral Cities version allows access to the Calumet Docks from Lake Michigan without passing through the CZ.

The route that you posted IC to the pickup site passes through the CZ and through Human Brigade territory. Tina will definitely recommend a different route...
DigitalOYABUN
Sorry I've been running ragged lately. I also couldnt resist putting in something from one of the greatest movies ever made.....since it from around that area.
CollateralDynamo
Hey guys, I've been a little busy at work lately. But everytime I checked in the thread it looked like some good RP was getting done, so I figured no worries.

In an effort to keep things moving I gave you guys another post to get a group consensus on which route you are taking to the pick up. Feel free to select a route and throw in a little rp to a post. If you guys can all respond to this by this afternoon/early evening, I can likely have the next plot post for you up by tomorrow.

Ok...don't shoot me. What movie is that taken from?
CollateralDynamo
And you wanna play in Chicago Jimson!?

Bluesmobile should have given it away....

lets just say, that its about two Brothers that are trying to get their Blues band together. They are on a mission from Gawd.

grumble, grumble, kids, grumble, get off my lawn, grumble, grumble....
Jimson
After re-reading the quote I did figure it out. For some reason, that is one I have not seen. Surprising even more that I grew up in IL. I'm such a disgrace to my home state.
Red-ROM
i can't wait for the sunglasses and cigarettes speech later.

or maybe a mission from god...
Red-ROM
Just checkin in. guess Runt is still searching the matrix
CollateralDynamo
Sorry, super busy. I'll try to post up tonight. Tomorrow morning at the latest. Don't abandon hope for one day of lagging. wink.gif
Red-ROM
no problem, my other games are lagging too. its been a slow weekend. but I know that real life is crazy. I'm sure i'll lag behind from time to time.
Jimson
That's ok. Plus Thanksgiving (US) is coming up this week. So I will probably not be able to post anything Thursday or Friday (and probably not the weekend as usual).

One thing I need to know for Aaroth, is when he looked in the Astral at the initial meeting, would he have known Tina was a Ghoul?

Oh yes. You've got enough dice I think to buy the two hits you would need to work that out.
CollateralDynamo
Sorry for the delay, post is up.

Yes, Aaroth knows about Tina's condition.

Runt has two things he can comment on, the result of his snooping as well as the situation at the end of the post.

The rest of you feel free to throw in some inter party chatter as you guys do the driving, but definitely tell me actions being taken as a result of what happened at the end of the post.

Hopefully we can resolve this delay quickly and in an entertaining fashion smile.gif.
Jimson
I think we must have posted at the same time. I'll read yours now. rotate.gif
