Looking for 6 to 8 players for a freelance smuggling game. The runners will be a black division of a legit shipping company.

I will come up with a post including a variety of jobs available over a private node for you to select from. Each job will have a vehicle and storage space requirement.

Ex: Need someone to drive or fly the Long Weekend with a drop off west of the twin cities. Cargo is bulk containers, 75% air craft, 50% T-bird, 25% ground craft. Job pays 50,000, half up front, deadline 4 days.

400 built points, 10 extra build points for completing the background questionare found here.

Group vehicle(s), characters may donate up to 10 build points to the purchase of a vehicle to be used for day to day operations. Each build point spent in the manner will be worth 20,000 instead of the standard 5,000. I will then provide matching funds to give you a decent budget to play with.

You get get the average of your Charisma + Etiquette is extra points for contacts.

I am looking for players who can post a couple of times a week. If someone drops out, their character will simply jump ship at the next stop with their cut of the profits.

Anyone interested?
LurkerOutThere
I'm in.
Zyerne
I'm interested, have some q's about vehicles though.

Is the 10BP for group vehicles on top of the normal 50 you can allocate for resources? Who are said vehicles owned by? Can we have private vehicles on top of that?
J. Packer
I'm in too. Not sure what role, just yet, but I'm keen to play.
Karoline
I might join in. I also threw my hat in for the infiltration game that just started gathering interest, and I won't go into both, so I'll have to look a bit more at which I'd rather join in the end.
Shadow
*waves* I would be interested Chance. How would a Ex-Spetsnaz Rigger work in the world, or something less military?
J. Packer
I've pretty much decided to play a character who can handle magical overwatch - an astral wingman as it were. If I'm in. smile.gif Don't want to be presumptuous.

Curious about this part. If the players are employees (even if off the books) of a shipping company, they are not really freelance.
You mentioned picking job postings off of a board. Are you planning to have the players do a lot of freelance work in addition to their work for the shipping company - or will they be strictly doing freelance work?
SleepIncarnate
Sounds interesting. I'm active in only one game at the moment and about to have a lot more time free in about 2 weeks (classes will be over and won't be taking more until I get back from my deployment). Standard questions though, such as what's allowed and not (in general: metavarients/sapient non-metahumans, qualities, etc)? Where is it taking place, at least to start (I get the impression this may be an all over the world kinda game)? Are there any traditions/streams that you don't want to see in play?

I'm thinking it is kinda like MoveUrStuff is our employee. They provide vehicles, hush hush mechanics, easy access to restricted/forbidden gear (Both vehicle related and perhaps things like fake passports), and are the ones that get the jobs. They then trust us to pick the jobs that will net the most money, and they take a cut from the pay of the job.

Edit: Maybe more like sponsors than employees.

No the 10BP come from the standard 50 you can allocate for resources.

The vehicles will be owned by the shell company, you can have private vehicles.

I dont think it would be too military.

I'm pretty much going to allow anything, with the exceptions that any infected must be sterile, and the non-regenerating kind. I reserve final approval for characters, and I will be making use of flaws to help tell the story.

I'm planning on the game starting in Seattle and seeing where you want to take it from there. I think the first couple of jobs will be in North America, following differnt routes from the sr2 Smuggler's Havens book.

Again I'm pretty open, but remember part of this is going to be roleplaying be couped up in a small space for days at a time, visiting different places where you could become "Dem strange city folk"

Karoline explained the corp part better than I did:

" We B movin' " is a small shipping company based out of Snohomish with a small quonset hut at Harvey Field a medium sized distribution center in renton and a private dock north of Everett. Know for their willingness to move just about anything for the right money, many suspect that they've more than dabbled in smuggling before. -Seattle Intelligencer March 2072

Okay, that makes sense. (It made sense when Karoline said it too, but good to hear you confirm it). biggrin.gif

I'm certainly interested (it sounds like a lot of people are), are you looking for more at this point? Concepts, backgrounds, full character sheets, etc - or were you just trying to gauge interest?
sabs
so kinda like firefly, but not so much in space.

I think trips into space will be somewhat less common than in Firefly.
Chance359
Well Now that I've seen that there is interest, I think we can move on to concepts due by Monday (Dec. 13), full sheets due by Friday (Dec 17), with the game hopefully starting on the 20th. I realize that the first week or two will be hectic for everyone, but we'll have to make the most of it.
Zyerne
I'm thinking an adept pilot who always dreamed of flying but couldn't get a 'real' job, commercial or military, because they suffer from simsense vertigo.

Undeterred, they set out to be the best fraggin' pilot they could be and are out to prove they can be just as good as the the guys using VR.
Yerameyahu
Or most AR, don't forget. Simsense Vertigo is crippling, especially for a pilot. smile.gif Enjoy.
Chance359
At this point we've got:

shadow - ex spetsnaz rigger
j. Packer - magical overwatch
Lurkeroutthere - Riggomancer
Zyerne - Adept rigger
? - Face
? - Gunner
? - Other

Thats a lot of riggers, though in this kind of game i'm not apposed to it. This is still very workable, as long as there isn't too much overlap in vehicle specialization (air/LAV/ground/water?) and people take a good mix of secondary skills.
SleepIncarnate
I'm thinking either a TM, or maybe a fun idea I had last night, a former moritician who lost her job when it was found out she was selling parts to ghouls, and so became an unlicensed street doc.

Seeing what we have already, might lean towards the TM face, one who happens to have skill in Gunnery.

I haven't forgotten. the loss of the AR +1 is insignificant compared to the loss of the VR boni though smile.gif
SleepIncarnate
Yeah, looking at all the riggers, I'm thinking TM hacker/face.....if I can make it work. She may not have a lot of social skills and gets by only on virtue of her high charisma.

If you want to go great guns on the TM side, I will almost certainly have some secondary focus on social things - and it will keep me from having to multiclass into hacker. smile.gif
SleepIncarnate
Well, as a technoshaman, she'll have high charisma anyways. I'll prolly only put 1 in the influence skills, and a machine sprite can take over any guns we have attached to stuff. But I'm still tweaking her. As it stands I have 5 BP in gear and 11 in contacts, but only 34 in CF's (yes, the one I posted on the other part of the forums for review was an early version of her). I may have to drop a positive quality for some more CF's or skills.

I can't speak for the GM, but I don't think you have to necessarily be perfect at what you do. You're going to have some sizable dice pools even with the CFs that are only 3's...

Unless you're a meatspace pilot trying to keep up with the VR flyboys smile.gif

Consider colorblind instead. With all the new AR stuff, it likely isn't an actual problem any more, but I'm sure it would still be something that people would be denied any sort of professional piloting job over just because of tradition.
SleepIncarnate
We'll see. Right now my pools are looking to be 8-10 in AR (10-12 in VR) depending on if they go with a skill or matrix attribute, but I'm also at 7 (8 after the +10 BP) for socials, so pretty evenly distributed.

Edit: Karoline, you should get around to making that ork you keep talking about, play the gunner.
LurkerOutThere
Got two concepts i'm toying about, technoshamanic mechanic and retired roadie troll face, I see sleep and I are overlaping a bit again.

The technomechanic is kind of my take on the Mechanicus cult from WH40K wrote in SR, the roadie is mostly a big troll with some social skills, ware and contacts. I'm not super committed to either concept so i can be flexible.
J. Packer
I've not quite got the details ironed out, by I'll be playing a shaman with a strong focus on spirits and the astral.

question.gif Which Ork is that? I know I tend to have a long list of 'character's I'd like to play' that I always forget whenever I'm sitting at the start of a campaign, but I don't recall any Ork based characters. Not a race I tend to play.

Well, I got an amnesiac technoshaman who can't remember anything before about mid 2066, but is told by her fellow TM's that they're pretty sure she was an otaku before the crash. And she can be a sorta face, but she's a hacker, not a rigger. Her only contact is a group one (her guild/tribe) but it's got a decent rating, so.... yeah, not helping with the overlap any.

You've mentioned in two threads that you should try an ork, one the "building a better TM" thread and the other the one ranting about how every meta is better than humans (simply because you've never seen one in play in any of your games).

It's funny, I think that Orks have the most compelling backstory of any of the metatypes - something about the pathos of their diminished lifespans I suspect.
Zyerne
I'm playing a human!

(And yes, an Ork would be statistically better for the same points)
LurkerOutThere
If i go technomancer I'm 99% certain i'll be human as I'll likely be strapped for points. If i go the face/expediter i'll probly be troll as his other major skill will be punching people, unsure if i'll go adept or sam at this point on that one.
Chance359
After careful consideration, I changed my mind about resources and vehicles. No more group vehicles, instead build your character as you would, everything but vehicles. The resource points for vehicle purchasing you get 20K per point instead of 5K.

I allocate 50 build points for resources, after buying ware/gear/ect, I've used 20 build points, the remaining 30 build points spent on pimping my rides would get me 600K for vehicle purchase. Hope this helps.

Ah, just an Ork in general. Thought maybe I had mentioned some specific concept.

I just checked the infiltration game's thread, and the GM has already listed the players who ave the most interesting concepts to him, neither of us was on that list (another one of my dwarves never sees the light of play) so feel free to jump in on this one. Looking at the list chance drew up, we still have room for someone.
Karoline
Yeah, just saw that too. Now I just need to settle on a concept.
Zyerne
Ork gunner/ground security smile.gif
SleepIncarnate
The macho troll gunner, who has to explain to his ork boyfriend why the rest of us are crashing at their pad nyahnyah.gif

And yes, that's a reference to another thread here on the forums. Seriously though, go with whatever you like, we have the technical and social aspects covered pretty well (heavily so on the tech with 2 or 3 riggers and a hacker, less so on the social with no one dedicated face but a couple secondaries), and got one magical support guy, so yeah, go combat or go some other odd route. I'm sure with this many hackers/riggers, we'll have some drones, or at least weapons on the vehicles, though I get the impression this group isn't going to be very meatspace combat driven.
J. Packer
Okay, I just got done with building my character. He's... quite a character. Came together in my head as I was building him.
[ Spoiler ]

Edited due to a terrific misunderstanding of how foci work...
Zadaine
I've got a social adept I drew up a while ago that I'd like to play. Here's the link to his sheet: http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=240553. It's based off the typical 400 BP chargen, so I'll have to add some more stuff if I fill out the questionnaire and think up a background. Maybe someone who used to work for the legit side of the corp and missed the thrill of his former 'runner life...
LurkerOutThere
I'm still crunching the numbers of Tex the mechanic/technomancer. I'm out of points and sad, still working. Basically if it can be fixed or built he will be able to fix or build it. Think Kaylee from firefly for competence and sunny demeaner, the engineer from TF2 for accent, and a mechanicus cultist from Wh40K for belief system.
Zyerne
Just so long as he doesn't start talking about where he's been putting things that run on batteries.
Chance359
Sorry I haven't been around this weekend, was down due to illness. So far we've got:

shadow - ex spetsnaz rigger (concept)
j. Packer - Padre (concept, stats)
Lurkeroutthere - Technomechanic (concept
Zadaine - Raskovitch (concept, stats)
Zyerne Adept Pilot (concept)
SleepIncarnate - Rifter (concept, stats)

Karoline?
SleepIncarnate
Forgetting someone?
Chance359
It's the meds, fixed.
Ramaloke
Got room for one more? I have a couple of idea floating around.
