I'm good to move forward to drinks with Al and Jan, but I warn that I might be even more quiet than usual as I just found out my website was hacked and is basically unusable/unstable and I am in a rush to rebuild a new one in time for a huge event next weekend.

Yikes, good luck with that!
Also looking forward to moving ahead with that, but not heard from Mr. J for some time…
Hopefully all is well in his world!

Great news!
Vegas said she's super busy, but I can do a post putting us at some watering hole. Then quick conversational posts will generate the scene we were talking about without being too time-consuming on anyone.

Let's do this!

Holiday season is crazy for everyone!

Looking forward to continuing the General IC "pre-TLG" chat.
Shall we include you in the current "post-TLG" chat as well?

I figured having watched him cave a troll's face in with one hit that Al is well aware of how hard Jan can strike when he needs to

Got another response up too. Trying to develop a bit of a character for him. Hope it doesn't come off as too harsh, but it may do. I think Al and Jan could end up as bickering friends. Like partners in loads of Cop films. Never agreeing fully and always annoyed by the other's actions, but still friends and fighting together

Hi all,
Our little baby girl has arrived safely into the world and I hope to resume normal SR GM duties in the next couple of weeks or so! Not that I'm going to muscle in on what Adamu is doing as he's doing a grand job!
See you all soon

Dude, I had the same sort of thing in mind about the Al/Jan dynamic. Rock on!
And don't worry about too harsh!
Too many people are so afraid of IC jabs crossing over to RL egos they end up having a bunch of hardened criminals talking to each other like socially sensitive politically aware grad students at some college town cocktail party.

For me, I am assuming everything Al knows about this he heard from Silk at the meet, though with a sneaking suspicion that it relates to the crap we ran into and discussed a bit on the last run.
But Aria also confirmed that Silk provided the link to the Jackpoint download that comprises Stolen Souls, so once this bar scene is over, Al is going home and reading it...

Hi folks...
I'm sort of adjusting to normality again and I've been trying to keep track of all the IC etc. I hope to pick up the reins of TLG next week (although you seem to be managing perfectly well without me!)...
Adamu: probably worth doing a current head count for Tribes and see if we can't get that moving again...depending on how you want to play it out I was considering letting you complete the CT encounter (although Al may be itching to get back to the action??) and then badgering you to pick up Tribes afterwards... but if you're up for it, feel free to run them simultaneously

Quick question. Al has called Jan a keeb a few times but I'm not sure what he means by it? Good to know if I'm being insulted
adamu
Feb 1 2015, 06:59 PM
Mr. J - it's a derogatory term for elf - see p. 15 of the BBB for latest canon reference, but it's been around for a while. Comes from the old Keebler Elf character for Keebler brand cookies.
I figured it was in keeping with the macho verbal jousting we had discussed between Al and Jan.
Al uses such racially derogatory terms quite a lot, but means nothing by them - he just has no sense of political correctness.
If anything goes too far and actually offends Jan, I am sure he will let Al know!

QUOTE (adamu @ Dec 16 2014, 12:23 AM)

This is a super-bare-bones plan, which Aria needs to plot things going forward, and which indeed I think is really ALL we need given that the plan is for us to be in the middle of its execution when things take a turn and get, um, exciting.
Basic plan incorporates Ali Moneaux, Al Guthrie, Jan, and Morgan, as they have posted in the past few weeks.
Basic legwork we’d like to have in place prior to start, with GM approval.
Multiple escape routes (quick surface streets --> freeways --> pre-set rally points in Puyallup Barrens Z-zones)
Name of security head and photos of his kids at school and home (promised by Silk in IC post; just something to have as a last resort bluff/stall if things go truly south)
Basic schematics of the data farm on all of our links, and showing water and electrical mains
Knowledge of infrastructure service providers (plumbing, etc.)
Basic prep
Morgan has hacked the plumber or whatever, gets us on work roster for given day/time
Ali Moneaux and Al Guthrie have appropriated one of their vehicles
Basic plan
Ali Moneaux and Morgan use the non-secure office access to walk straight in and, using their formidable Con and Hacking powers, somehow parlay that into entry to the data farm (inspection, parcel delivery, work reassignment, whatever).
Once inside, (A) Morgan does whatever computer types do and starts locating our target area - if she can get the goods, sweet - but more likely she’ll just learn where in this gigantic place we need to be in order to find/secure the data - while (B) Ali Moneaux places a small charge Al Guthrie has prepared for her or otherwise sabotages as Al Guthrie has instructed a water main in the vicinity of target area designated by Morgan, causing the beginnings of a flood that threatens the data farm itself (they probably have a remote cutout for the water inflow, but they’ll need to get it fixed and back online soon since they likely need it as a coolant).
Jan and Al Guthrie are naturally standing by in the plumbing van. They will come in, clearing an access path to the target area and get to work. This will hopefully create enough distraction for the women to get the data, and have them close at hand to lend combat back-up when (I mean, if) things go crazy.
Is there really any point to planning beyond that???
Of course some of our other players may be around, simply waiting for us to get off the ground with a plan. Depending on skills, they may be better suited to going in with the con team, or coming in with plumber back-up team.
Or, Rodeo could do astral overwatch and also possibly remote service a fire spirit or something to cause a huge distraction at other side of plant, drawing off attention and sec forces.
And Haze could be standing by as secondary exfil, and also if he had his heavy firepower drones at one end of that long alleyway between the office buildings and the data farm, suppressive fire on that lane could effectively delay reinforcements from the office areas (where most of the sec force probably is) crossing over to our target area, the data farm.
And Phantom, with infil skills, could also go in at a secondary point to do something interesting…???…or go in with first team and add hands to the finding of the package we are looking for.
And the MOST important thing about this plan is that it is merely meant as a starting point for planning.
All ideas for additions, changes, and deletions most welcomed.
Unless I've missed subsequent revisions I will work to this for now and kick start the action where the demo goes off to cause the flood...
That is provided LeFey's last IC revelation doesn't mean you all decide that this fubar run is not for you after all?!?

Let's assume that there are X number of additional shadow PCs in the mix such that this run has a chance of succeeding without being too specific about who the players are for now...at least assume all the basic roles are covered
Can I have some confirmation on any outside actions against a sec guard's family (if any)...it seems like you are just going to prove you know where they are for the moment rather than snatching anyone?!? A live drone feed with cross hairs painted across the camera may be sufficient

A live drone feed would be excellent. Recorded footage doesn't carry the same weight. I was waiting to see what intel we actually got back and on who before deciding what play to make, but if the live drone feed is simple and you're happy with it then that's good with me. Who can we get it on? The higher clearance/more access the better. Ideally if we can get access to weapons in there then we don't need to smuggle our own in. Alternatively though I could just wrest it from the hands of the first CorpSec I meet

As for firepower, hmm.
Al only has low-tech, civilian-type weapons. Nothing that breaks down or is really at all concealable. But I was thinking about some sort of portable pump apparatus that we have to wheel in by hand or on a sort of dolly-drone. We could empty out the innards and put a couple of rifles inside, plus whatever personal weapons the con-crew would like us to bring in for them. If the housing was metal it might confuse scanners…
Aria, I posted this a bit after the planning post we are using.
Can I assume Al has thrown something like this together?

Maus will quickly assense the guard, wanting to know of any magical threats before she reveals her hand.
7d6.hits(5) → [1,3,6,5,5,2,6] = (4)
If he's NOT magical, she'll ready a stunbolt spell, and hold its release until she gets the idea that the guard is going to fire on them. If he's magically inclined, she'll hold all combat actions and cast armor.
I'll roll for the specific spell if it's necessary

Silkie
2d6+7 → [1,2,7] = (10)
2d6+7 → [1,2,7] = (10)
2d6+7 → [1,3,7] = (11)
2d6+7 → [6,1,7] = (14)
2d6+7 → [3,3,7] = (13)
Cam
2d6+7 → [4,3,7] = (14)
2d6+7 → [4,5,7] = (16)
2d6+7 → [4,1,7] = (12)
2d6+7 → [1,3,7] = (11)
