Hey, just a heads up for anyone that might be interested in a horror-themed game that's due out soon. Slated for an Origins launch is Spinespur, the flagship game of the brand new Comfy Chair Games company. It may appeal to Shadowrun players in that it's a mixture of a truly horrible blighted urban wasteland and some strong supernatural mumbo-jumbo -- or maybe just the drunken clown in a leather jockstrap will catch your eye, either way.
Poke around the survival guide (basic background and setting info), check out the concept art, and ogle a miniature or two, if you've got a few minutes to kill. I got called in by them to handle quite a bit of their background fiction, and having seen as much of their stuff as I have, I'm pretty psyched about it (just as a wargamer, not just because it'll be cool to see my writing in print). The smaller scale of this game -- "armies" will likely be 5-10 miniatures per side on average -- will make it pretty appealing to casual guys that might not want to shell out hundreds or thousands of bucks to get into Warhammer or Warmachine or something, and the characters are colorful enough it might even feel more like an RPG than a wargame (and campaign/xp rules will be in follow-up books).
So, anyhow. Check out the web page if you want, and feel free to log on to their forums and ask any questions you might have, or I can try and field 'em here. In any case, take a look around and see if you think it might be up your blood stained, refuse-cluttered alley.
