As part of my campaign, I've set up a "news" site where my current players can make comments (in character) about events, advertisements, and the like...
Currently, I've got a couple of my old players interacting with them, as their old characters and everyone has been having a lot of fun with this.
If anyone is interested in helping out by making comments in character (one of your old characters, a character from the established universe, etc...), you're more than welcome to come join the fun and we'd love to have you.
The players have been warned that any and all comments made here, do effect the campaign and that all the NPC characters do exist in our campaign world (not that they will get to meet them, only that they are out there.)
Here's a link for the ShadowTalk:
http://fromtheshadowsrpg.blogspot.com/ If you're interested in what's going on in the campaign, here's a link to the online sourcebook (with downloadable maps, character art, game synopsis, etc...)

edrift, do you have a computer available at the table when you play for your players to access the news info while the game is going on or do they have to access it on their own time?
I really like the site (and I'll probably end up posting something on their as one of my old characters). This is exactly the kind of stuff I'm looking for.

For now, I have a Dell Axim X50 (pocket PC) hooked into our wireless network that everyone can use to search the posts (labels are damn handy). Eventually, I would like to get a laptop as well.
The players post to this on their own time and it essentially extends the game beyond our table-top time.

Yeah, this is a very cool idea.
[ Spoiler ]
I'll be posting as Tach, a member of the Ancients (Seattle Branch and wannabe fixer/information broker) with his fingers in too many pies for his own good. He may not have the latest dirt on corp-level goings on, but if there's information that's street level, he's likely to know something about it. Not necessarily the RIGHT something, but something nonetheless.

HAHA, loving the posts you guys are coming up with, Sterling for one.
I post as a player, but also do world posts under Meta-Human News Network.
I should also say, that I can contribute to this blog and if you want to be a "Freelance Reporter" for Meta-Human News Network, write a news story (If it warrants, I'll illustrate it), and take your place as a contributor through me. Think of me as your Editor-in-Chief. I'll give you credit under any name you desire. PM me if you've got any questions.

I'm currently using three of my (N)PCs:
Galen, an elven Dragonslayer Shaman from Tir na N'Og, who got thrown out of his school for a series of pranks.
Sneak (a.k.a. Big Jimmy), a short dwarf infiltration/demolitions specialist. Galen's his roommate. Likes to drink.
Ailill, elven mage; you find out more about him
here; he's one of a group of NPCs I published a few weeks ago.

I have a game I've been running here that has regular news articles included. Usually little plot hooks, like a rise in Loup Garou attacks, an antique Thompson machine gun stolen from a museum, dragon sightings, that sort of thing. Only issue is that it's set in New Orleans. I take it this is all Seattle based?

Just wanted to brag a little (for) Tim Keller who recently illustrated the group from our blog and game, From The Shadows.
The crew consists of:
Toq: a gremlinized panther spirit shaman.
Jambi: an adept who loves monofilament whips.
Begby: a bull-headed ork street sammy/rigger mix with an addiction to hovercrafts.
Lars: a technomancer with frightening sensibilities.
GM is: edrift101

Whipstitch
Jul 13 2007, 10:30 PM
I'll be posting as Whipstitch (Yay for obviousness). Quick run down on his personality follows:
[ Spoiler ]
He's in his late 30s and is a (mostly) trustworthy semi-retired runner, street doc, and amateur techhead with a criminal SIN and a dirty past in organlegging. Well, "past" isn't entirely accurate. He maintains a smalltime black clinic but doesn't yank things out of his customers, since that'd be bad for biz. But he does maintain Tamanous contacts and has been known to come up with a "spare part" on his own from time to time. As a runner he's an all-around skill monkey, complete with Skillwires, a decent commlink and is highly proficient with monowhips. Somewhat unique in that he actually is a fully and formally trained doctor going back to his days as a registered employee in Yamatetsu/EVO's biotech division.

We've been looking at the stats on the site, and there's more people reading this than just you guys as posters, we're starting to develop a substantial following, which is kinda crazy cause we started doing this just for ourselves. We know people are reading and enjoying it cause the average stay on the site is over four minutes.

To save on space, placd in a spoiler tag.
[ Spoiler ]
Chun "the Unavoidable" is a slight asian man with a winning smile and an extreme viewpoint. Chun was born in Malaysia to a family of Fuchi employees and raised in an upwardly mobile Chinese Muslim home there. He awakened as a magician, but so late in life (14) that he was already marked by Fuchi as an eventual rigger and outfitted with a modest array of cybernetics. After his older brother became a ghoul, Chun's entire family was ostracized from the Fuchi corporation. No longer able to live high on the hog in a Malaysian Extraterritorial Enterprise Zone, Chun fled to North America with his brother (who at that time was prone to violent outbursts and inappropriate behavior). Desperate to find someone who could give his brother the care he needed, Chun eventually hooked up with agents of the Asamando nation who offered psychiatric care in Lagos for his brother in exchange for Chun's assistance in world-wide vampire hunting.
Chun is absolutely convinced that he will also eventually transform into a ghoul, and as such performs espionage for Asamando as much out of patriotism as out of the slim salary they are able to ply him with. Given the inherently predatory relationship Wendigo have with ghouls, Chun is called upon to kill the infected more than any other task, and has at this point participated in the execution of more than a dozen vampires and vampire variants. Wendigo are highest priority, but any type capable of producing Wendigo even accidentally are preferred targets (vampire, banshee, dzoo, and goblin primrily). To this end, his drones have been outfitted with a variable feed that pops in steel, silver, or wood bullets as required.
Chun's spirits materialize as women dressed in impossibly fancy dresses, and Chun spends a considerable amount of his time buttering them up by taking them to restaurants and other similar activities. While his relationship with his spirits is non-sexual, it really creeps out human women and Chun's love life has gone from one catastrophe to another. Chun's ally spirit is inhabitted into a Plasteel Homunculus which in turn has been outfitted with synth-skin such that his Ifrit can pass for human - kind of.
Where's Waldo bonus feature: Chun is missing part of his arm in the Chapter 8 intro story in Augmentation. He doesn't have a lot of lines at that point because he has a low pain tolerance and has passed out. The woman in the chemical suit posts on Jackpoint using the moniker "Hannibelle". The doctor is Glen Swayne.

I'm posting as three (so far) people: The_O'RLY_Factor, Jill_on_The_Hill and mirrage.
The Factor, there, is just a right-wing nut-job, basically. He'll pick fights with anyone at the drop of a hat and resort to name calling quickly. He's the kind of person that smart people wish didn't agree with them because he makes their point less tenable. I hope no one gets offended by his actions. It's all IC, I promise and he's supposed to be dumb, petty and mean.
My idea for Jill was that she is a fairly well-connected woman working in Washington, DC (The Hill, yes?), but then it occurred to me that I'm not sure DC is the capitol of the UCAS, so, anyway, she's a rumor monger.
Mirrage is an old decker who, I suppose, is retired and just wants to play games on the Matrix these days and do a little recreational coding and hacking. He's laid back and likes to contribute to open source projects, etc. He's an old PC of mine from back in the day.

I'm posting as Scope.
She's a cleaner with known connections to the Gianelli family. Total vat-job with almost no moral compunctions, but she's got a philosophic bent and is prone to quoting Nietzsche, Shakespeare, Dickens, and Marx. She only has two rules: the job gets done, and everybody goes home. She's a sniper and apparently served as a military or security officer at some point. Occasionally posters refer to her as 'Captain' or 'Major' online.
