Full Version: New Cyber Systems and Bio Implants

These are some cyber systems and bio implants that I have made for my game world, most of them are made by my custom made corporation. Most are inspired by some movies and comic I have read, I received most of my cyber system and bio implant ideas where taken from BlackOps, and Cybernary. As far as I know, most of this ware posted is my idea, if another site has already done something similar please tell me, not flaming. There is one piece of cyber some might remember from the previous board, the Endo Frame idea was not taken very well by some of the member here, and they decided to get real nasty with the flaming. I'll be providing some background on there development and use to them more acceptable, I am no doctor or geneticist, so what seems possible to me might be in fact very impossible to a professional aka certed doc or geneticist. More to come in later posts.

::The Endoframe::

The Endo Frame is on the bleeding edge of bodyware cyber systems, this system replaces large sections of the skeletal system with cermite <titanium/ceramic alloy> equivalents. This system is meant to be a more efficient alternative to full body cyber replacement, while providing greater protective capabilities then possible with cyber limbs, and torso replacements. The Endo Frame has a long in hospital stay varying from patient to patient, but usually averages 6 months, 8 at most. The Endo Frame is implanted in stages to make integration of the system into the body less traumatic, the skull and a spine are done first with a recovery time of a 1-2 month recovery time. The pelvis and and rib cage are done next with a recovery time of 2 months to allow the muscles to fully anchor them selves to the new frame. The rest of the skeletal system comes after that, again with a long 2 month recovery time to allow the muscle to fully attach them selves to the new frame. The recipient then goes through a short physical rehabilitation to acclimate to the Endo Frame.

The rib cage is made of thick ridged cermite plates that over lap, the over lapping plates provides greater flexibility while providing great protection to the lungs and heart. The Skull is reinforced by combining procedures from bone lacing and cyber skull replacement, large parts of the skull is reinforced with concealed cermite plates, while the inner reachs are laced with cermite. The larger bones have hollowed out areas to reduce weight, these spaces are shaped so to provide the greatest structure possible, bone marrow is also placed in these spaces. The joints are made of a memory polymers that are guaranteed to last 3 years under normal to strenuous activity, extreme activity will lower the joints life depended upon the activity. There are free maintence session for all joint, and moymer assistors, maintence sessions should be scheduled every six months for optimal operation. Moymer tendons are used to assist with the movement and control of the heavier structure.

The Endo frame is capable of incorporating some cyber limb modifications like integrity enhancement, most built in devices, and smartlinks/guncon systems.

::Neural Control Unit::

This cyber system was developed for law enforcement to control high - extreme threat danger criminals more effeciently then possible. This new cyber system is based on the move-by-wires technology, the NCU or Neural Control Unit, stays off line until activated through programmed trigger(s) or through remote activation. When activated it cuts off all voluntary control of the body must like a RAS Override, thus preventing the criminal from performing actions that would harm him self and others. But the NCU takes it a step further by allowing a limited degree of control over the recipients movement and actions, these can either be pre programmed or controlled through a RCD much like a drone. This control is limited to walking and other simple movements, technology level currently does not permit full control over voluntary movement. This technology has raised many ethnical questions on its use, they vouch that this technology is one step to controlling the populace against there will.

While this has limited it use to very extreme cases, the facilities that have implemented this technology have vouched that it has reduced violent actions by recipients of this cyber system have dropped by 90%. There where very rare incidents where the inmate was able to resist the NCU, but was un able to do more then concentrate on controlling him self, and some extreme cases where some have completely ignored the NCU effects. Priton Cyber and Biotechnologies makes the NCU on a per order policy, and are only available to certified security/detention companies and government agencies.

Neural Control Unit (N.C.U)
Notes: When activated the unit can ether run preprogrammed actions or be controlled from remote control or VCR. The possessor of the unit may attempt to resist when activated willpower 8 test and add +6 to all target numbers (due to concentrating on just trying to control his body). After the first test the character must make an other willpower 8 + 1 for every other test after the first. If the character fails any test he or she loses control of her character until deactivated.

::Hunter Killer VR Chip::

This cyber-system is meant to increase a soldiers over all effectiveness by increasing aggression levels where the recipient can operate more efficiently. The HK VR chip is wired to the aggression center of the brain, using a tailored simsense program hardwired in to the cyber-system. The HK VR unit has specific sensory and hormonal triggers that activates the cyber-system, the unit is also capable of being activated voluntarily. The simsense program puts the recipient into a agitated state that triggers the release of stress related hormones like endorphines and adrenalin. The chips programming also monitors and controls neural impulses to the aggression centers of the brain by increasing/decreasing the simsense input, this does not always work. The program also induces a trance like state, this trance like state increases the recipients concentration, thus increasing the chances of success, this state also reduces the impact of actions taken on the field on the recipients conscious and emotions.

There is a 2%-4% chance of the program failing to control and effectively monitor the recipients neural activity, but when this occurs the recipient goes into a uncontrolled rage, often called Bezerker mode. This "Bezerker Mode" is when the recipient loses all control of his aggression and attacks anyone and anything like a rabid animal, this state is caused by improper implantation or neural connectivity is damaged. The units cost and potently dangerous side effects has impaired the acceptance of this system into security and military forces, the HK VR unit has been used by some militaries though, most notable by Tsimshian. This unit is only marketed to the security and military markets, though is has found its way in the black markets and shadows, this unit is particularly popular with gladiators that compete often in illegal blood sports.

Hunter Killer VR
Notes: The HK VR Chip is activated when possessor is attacked or in a high stress situations that would release high levels of adrenalin and endorphines. The user may deactivate the unit with a successful will test 6. If the test fails the character temporally loses control of his character equal to 2d6 initiative passes. When the HK VR chip is active add +1 dice toward all physical skills (i.e. Pistol, Athletics, Unarmed, and the such). Increase reaction by 1/2 the unmodified reaction (total natural reaction divided by 2 i.e. 6/2=3). Increase the character strength and quickness by .25 (strength times .25 i.e. 8 x .25 = 2). Provides pain resistance equal to three levels of the adept power.

I have to make a comment on the H/K chip system. "...situations that would release high levels of adrenaline and endorphines." Better hope you have a high willpower when you're having a heated encounter in bed. Otherwise your partner might be a touch put out with you.

Notes: Reduce the effective Data compactor rating for access time equal by the Data decompactors rating. If effective rating drops below 1, data access time is a free action.

Example: Decker A has Headware Memory [300Mp], Data Compactor III, and Data Decompactor I. Normally it would require a complex action to access information from his linked headware memory, but because the Data Decompactor reduces the Data Compactors effective rating to II, it now requires a simple action to access compressed files.
