I just had a Golgo 13 moment in Hitman: Blood Money in the duel versus Maynard in the Dance With The Devil mission.
See, it was the first time I'd played through this level, so I didn't know what to expect and was really going by the seat of my pants. I didn't know that Maynard was the bartender, so was totally surprised when he challenged me to a duel. I couldn't think of a more private way to kill him after that than accepting the offer of the duel, so I went along with it. At the time, my character was holding the foil-lined rifle briefcase, and the rifle inside was modified with the bolt action, the cold-loaded ammo, the level 2 suppressor, and the extended barrel.
So, the duel starts, and while I'm still digesting what has just happened and wondering what's on the table for me to pick up, Maynard opens fire with his MP5. I drop the rifle case and duck behind cover, and get surprised when the cover is destroyed by the suppressive fire. I run to the next piece of cover and the same thing happens.
So, I sprint back to the briefcase, grab it, and stand behind a cement pillar, which provides non-destructable cover. While behind this pillar, I have 47 assemble his rifle, and then sprint back out behind some of the destructed cover.
I quickly switch to Zoom mode and there's actually, like, a lense flare, or the glare from the floodlights, obscuring my shot. I aim the rifle where I think Maynard is and fire. I hit him in the belly area and he immediately dies while 47 opens the bolt on the rifle and chambers a fresh round. During this whole exchange 47 only lost about a milimeter of health from his meter and that was just from being surprised while standing near the table with the guns on it.
It was a complete Golgo 13 moment with the one perfect shot fired from an awkward weapon in imperfect conditions taking out the opposition who was busy saturating the area with his SMG. The only way it could have been more Golgo 13 epic would be if the round had caught him right between the eyes or something like that.
I think this moment was special and cool because it was so spontaneous. It would have been less cool if I'd planned it out this way, if I'd known what to expect, or if I'd been saving and reloading a lot to make it happen. But the whole thing went down in this manga-esque way with me as the player going by the seat of my pants. As such, it really felt like awesome and entertaining drama and I really got a charge out of having accomplished things in the way I did.
