I've recently discovered Advent Rising, a 2005 PC (and X-Box) video game. It looks like it has been shot down or at least under appreciated by critics, which is a shame because, in my opinion, it's a wonderful and truly epic game.

To sum it up in a few words, it's a Max Payne style 3rd person shooter (with bullet time dodge) with unarmed combat, guns (with dual guns, even with different guns) and Jedi powers in a truly epic space opera storyline.
The combat gameplay includes an auto-targeting, allowing you to switch between targets with the mouse wheel. This, combined with the dual wielding and powers let you take on a lot of enemies (big aliens) at the same time... with class.

I haven't completed the game yet, and so far the storyline, while good, is nothing groundbreaking but it allows for a lot of epic scenes. There are also a few scenes where your choice will have some impact on some aspects of the story.

Anyway, I'm really enjoying it and since it's 3 years old and sold relatively little, you can find it cheap in bargain bins.
