I have noticed that several posters here have "ratings" in their profiles of zero to five stars. What are they for, and what do they do?

I believe it is a graphic (and redundant) representation of your post count. For example, Target = 1 'box', while Moving Target = 2 'boxes', etc.

I meant the "rating" in people's member profile, like how you have five stars.

its a cool-o-meter. measures how cool one is. I've actually reset mine a coupla times on account of my sheer coolness.

That's just what he'd like you to think .... in fact, we have to keep artificially inflating it for him after everyone else lowers his rep score

Isn't it the number of dice you add to your dice pool when posting?

I don't know about you people, but I get -2 TN on Acceleration, Hiding, and Ramming tests for every point of my rating (-1 TN per on standard driving tests).

It is a rating system. People who look at your profile can rate you as a user, from 0-5 stars, and the system averages out the scores to determine how popular you are.

I currently stand at 0 stars, apparently fear and loathing from my players gets around. =)

LOL rating is actually how many warnings you have received. High is bad and usually gets you banned.

Only reason I know that is because Privateer Press uses the same Shell for their message board.

Rating mean nothing to the admins or mods.

Yeah, it's just the post count and stuff. The more post you make, the higher your rating and sometimes you get a different title. Not to say that we don't keep track of people's warnings and moderation-related things; we just don't use rating to do that.

I think you guy are confusing post count with rating stars in the profiles. Maybe we need to run you guys through the manuals again

In theory, the Rating is there as a gauge of Peer Review. Kinda like Netflix's ratings. It's pretty pointless and entirely subjective, really, unless you actually have a lot of people actively using it.

No we use something else for that. I know because the other thing says "Warn" on it.
