Full Version: Online Karma Cost Generator

So I was bogged down in the math last night with respect to Karma-based character generation, so I put together a quick and dirty Karma cost calculator on my site. Feel free to check it out and if you find any problems, let me know. It helped me out a lot last night so I figured it might help others, too.

Anyway we can download this?
Dashifen
Not really. It's designed to be a small web-app so it would take a little doing to try and make it work offline. Not impossible work, but unlikely to be done anytime soon. I might work something up in Python or Adobe Air if I get the shot, but it won't be today. Sorry.

ok thanks

There's and Adobe Air application that will do the same work as the online calculator. If you want to use it, you'll need the Adobe Air runtime, which you can get here: http://get.adobe.com/air/. Once you install the runtime, double click on sr4ic.air and it'll install. You'll get warnings about unsigned certificates and unrestricted access to your computer, but all it does is calculate and I don't know if I can get a signed cert for free so until I do more research (if necessary), you get what you pay for wink.gif

Hope it helps. It's my first stab at making an Adobe Air "application" so hopefully it goes smoothly for you.

I just got it. It works great, thanks a bunch. Saves me from doing the math myself( I HATE math!!!)

Add the ability for skills and skill groups to start at 0 though.
Dashifen
They can, as far as I know. Skill groups from 0 to 1 cost ten and skills are 4, if I understood correctly. Maybe I didn't get them in the AIR app...
InfinityzeN
I get this on the website if I try to start a skill or skill group at 0.
QUOTE
C'mon. Don't be dense. Enter a number into both the starting and ending rating and make sure that the starting one is less than the ending one. Otherwise, there's not much I can do.

Otherwise nice little calc that makes life easier. biggrin.gif

I might have a x > 1 assertion in there. I'll check.

Fixed it in the online app (linked in the original post). I'll work on the Adobe AIR version eventually.
