Adam
In Bad Moon Rising in the East, a team of shadowrunners is hired to track down the source of a new drug shipping into Hong Kong. Directly connected to the Ghost Cartels campaign, the team of six Caracas natives are thrust into a criminal underworld far from their home. With few contacts to turn to, they may find themselves deeply involved in a vicious underworld conflict.

This 22-page scenario was used for the Gen Con 2008 Shadowrun tournament. While it may be used with other characters, the included team of shadowrunners is fully fleshed out with contacts, backgrounds, and motivations. This complete package allows for a night or two of Shadowrun with little prep work for the gamemaster or the players.

Bad Moon Rising in the East totals 37 pages, with 1 cover/credits page, 21 pages of scenario, 3 pages with 1 map each, and 12 pages of pregenerated characters: Covert Ops, Face, Hacker, Melee Artist, Pistol Adept, Shaman.

"a team of shadowrunners are hired" - is hired, neh?

"This 22-page scenario scenario " - one less: scenario

"the included team of shadowrunners are fully fleshed" - probably just "included shadowrunners" or "is fully fleshed" ?

This is what I have been looking for since 4th Edition came out. I think its fantastic. The layout is readable. The NPC stats and condition monitors are blocked off on relevant pages. if it had Karma rewards it would be an honest to Rod adventure. This is A grade work.

I would be willing to buy one of these a month at this price should you have more that are this good.

shadowrunner is
shadowrunners are

are is very much correct for a plural. Do not try to correct grammar if you don't have a firm grasp on the language (aka above high-school [American] education - high schools here suck balls).

While technically you can be correct, "is" is prefixed by shadowrunners, & thus what it is referencing. It is incorrect for the plural, & should be "are". To reference the team, the sentence should be worded "A shadowrunner team is".

Because of its wording, you cannot clearly tell if it is "a team of shadowrunners" or a team of shadowrunners", making everything potentially incorrect. The wording does suggest that team & shadowrunners are two separate entities.

Edit: Yet another reason why I hate this damn language. I should really learn another.

Are you talking about the second or first instance of "team of shadowrunners"? Clearly, in the first sentence, team is the subject, and the prepositional phrase "of shadowrunners" is acting as an adjective describing what type of team. Taking a look at the second sentence, we can conclude that the author intended to expound upon the shadowrunners, but constructed a poor sentence to do so, which is why I suggested an alternate fix, rather than just altering the to be verb.

In British English, one may refer to a group as a plurality. In American English, one may not. We who live in Canada and are exposed to both forms regularly find this duality a source of psychosis. In a typically Canadian attempt to find a third way, we come up with "the corporation arse".
Chrysalis
In BrE grammatically singular collective nouns are treated as notionally plural if the group is considered as a collection of individuals:

The audience were enjoying every minute of it
England have won the cup.

Singular and plural verbs are more or less interchangeable in the contexts of [1] and [2], but singular has to be used in sentences like The audience was enormous, there the group is considered as a single undivided body.

In AmE gramatically singular collective nouns are generally treated as singular, especially when they refer to governments and sports teams.

Note: In BrE and AmE, plural pronouns are often used to refer to singular collective nouns even when the verb is singular; for example, they is an alternative to it in The committee has not yet decided how they should react to the letter.

I can't believe we've spent two pages arguing pedantically about grammar on a thread about a new product! No wonder people consider us gamers antisocial.

Catalyst, are the characters for Bad Moon Rising in the East set, or can we stick our regular characters in there? I'm guessing the answer is that it might need a little tweaking.

I skimmed it, I confess. I was distracted by the person correcting the grammar of the kind soul who had just posted the good news. Who was that again?

Archangel Gabriel: "Fear not, for I bring glad tidings of great joy. You shall bear a son, and He shall be the holiest of holies, and he shall be named Jesus."

Mary: "Yeah, did you know your sandals don't really go with your halo?"

Fair enough.

By the way, I agree with your corrections, and I live in Britain. 'Team' is the noun. 'Team of Shadowrunners' may be a noun phrase, but it is still singular.

I am actually intending to learn Latin, Norwegian (Bokmål & Nynorsk), Eldar Futhark, & Binary. I am vaguely interested in German.

While Latin should be easy enough, it's nearly impossible to find a teacher for the rest around here.

As a person studying to be an electronic engineer, let me just say that binary is both easy and overrated. But if you insist, you might as well learn octal and hexadecimal while you're at it.

While I appreciate your work in putting this out for all of us, I feel another format may be necessary. What do you say to putting it on paper? Maybe with a protective binding of some kind, I suppose we could call it a 'cover'. Then of course we'd have to name this new format... hmmm... I know, I'll call it a book.
(/light-hearted sarcasm)

Sorry. However, even with the fast production and greater availability of electronic formats (and yes, I'm gonna buy your PDF), there is something to be said for the smell of paper.

Seriously though Adam, you said this is part of a series of adventures? What're the odds of an actual physical compilation of this series when it's finished?

Answering for Adam since the PDF-exclusives are actually my domain.

It's pretty unlikely that this scenario (or any of the other PDF exclusives) would see print release. These are being released as PDFs based upon sales expectations. In the event that the PDFs sell astronomically well, it's certainly possible that CGL would consider a print release. However, it's reasonable to say that's extremely unlikely.

Essentially, in order to justify a print run, it has to be reasonably likely that a book will sell a few thousand copies. These scenarios are unlikely to hit that target for a number of reasons.
Tachi
Damn, and other (normally) unprintable exclamations. Well, thanks for the quick response anyway dunner, I guess I'll have to buy a new computer after all.

The PDF costs $3.95 plus approximately $0.50 to $1.00 for ink (assuming you print the colour cover), paper and wear on your printer to have a print copy complete with the smell of paper. You can even use scented paper for a little extra.

I don't even want to speculate on this; it might happen, it might not, for the reasons John has outlined.

I do, however, want to point out that all of the "new content" PDF releases are additional to the print schedule: we aren't taking books off the print schedule and turning them into PDFs. We're taking product types and concepts that likely wouldn't break even or make money in the traditional three-tier [publisher -> distributor -> retailer] environment and making them available directly to you.

Note to the publishers: I would pay $30 for a bundle of adventures like Bad Moon. The format is great, easily read and completely usable. Whereas I have advised all of the local GMs to put Ghost Cartels at the bottom of their list, I have told them all to buy this immediately.

I can see one adventure losing money in a print format. A book of them may work.

If I am gushing, I apologize. This adventure represents something I have wanted more of for Shadowrun for nearly a decade.
