Full Version: Useful info from novels

As I am slowly progressing through my goal of reading all Shadowrun material in chronological order, I thought it would be a good idea to use our Shadowrun wiki to collect info on interesting people, places and events mentioned in the novels (this can also be extended to adventures and such).

I am currently thinking that a useful novel entry would have the following entries:
* blurb for those who hate spoilers smile.gif
* spoiler info on what has really happened in the novel, that may be seen as canon info on SR events
* info on characters that may become a basis for canon SR character contacts and NPCs
* info on places that can be seen as canon places in the SR world
If possible, I try to add page numbers so that interested readers can easily read up more on the above.

For example of what I mean, see my recent entry on the novel Shadowplay. Wiki being wiki, by all means feel encouraged to expand and improve this entry. For the full list of Shadowrun novels, see here. I'd love to see for example places developed in a way that Kanada is doing (I still think wiki is a much better place for such info then the forums).

I will be adding more novel entries as I read them; unfortunately I don't have access to the older ones (I will have it in May), so don't expect more novel entries by me soon.

I added info on Tassien, Haeselich, and Katherin Hart once (I spell all of those right?) based on the info I had from Never Deal with a Dragon, but somewhere along the lines most of that got lost (Haeselich is still there, though I may have reconstructed it later). Along with a good pile of info taken from Psychotrope about Mirage (AI).

Looks a good resource. You could also include any information relevant to the game like details on gear, vehicles, spells, utilities - you name it - the strength of SR novels is their link to the game and it meshes well with the wiki format.
I read a similar synopsis of a couple of the early Secrets of Power novels similar to yours, I'll post the link if I find it though it may contain spoilers of course.

That's pretty interesting. I started a personal wiki on exactly the same thing. I got through the first couple of books before we started packing to move again. I may be able to add info once we get moved.

This is awesome; exactly what the SWW is intended for.

You mean another SR wiki?

PS. Link, thanks for the link - a great tool indeed, one that would benefit from a complete assimilation into the wiki format. smile.gif

I would be interested in helping with this project as well. Over the past year I've been re-reading a lot of the old Shadowrun novels, having written a few reviews on Amazon in the process. Nice update on Shadowplay, one of the better SR novels written in my opinion.

1. The drug using emotionless black elf, Modal. Not wanting to spoil any of the book, but he is one of my favorite SR fictional characters of all time. I first picked up Shadowplay when I was still in middle school and managed to read the book despite not knowing anything about the universe at the time. The emotions he was able to get out of Sly, and the way he ended up gaining her trust was nice characterization. I also enjoyed how he used the Ares Predator. smile.gif

2. The and description of vintage 1990-2039 automobiles.

3. Cameo apperance by Argent.
