I've been a big fan of Shadowrun for awhile, after playing the SNES and Genesis versions a while back and being introduced to the PNP games shortly after. Unfortunately, as I was getting ready to get taught, I moved to the other side of the US and put it off for awhile. i tried to get a game going with friends, but then one of them pulled out a WoD book, and since everyone found vampires cooler, my games got pushed to the side and I had to play with WoD books. Later, I joined the military, and my career was one of those which you do NOT advertise that you play PNP games. I live in Portland, and for some reason, I've never found Shadowrun players here, always WoD.
Well, I really want to get started on it, and I've put playing a series I've loved reading about and wanting to play off for too long, so I would appreciate it if anyone could give me some basic information to get me started (besides buying sourcebooks). Also, I was wondering if it is possible to play it online if playing in person doesn't seem like a viable option. Any info I could give I'd appreciate
