Full Version: oooh, noo, there goes Tokyo

OK, so i was soaking in a nice hot tub, playing with my little submarine(don't ask) after jut having left the dumpshock boards.
And suddenly, my Mind went:"Wait what? Stop, rewind. Where IS the Big G? I can't remember even the smallest little hint at him"
And that thought struck me as odd . . because let us be honest . . There's NOBODY who does not know him.
So why is there not even a little insider Gag, or someone mentioning him in Shadowtalk, in ANY of the Books?
Closest would be the Big G / Big D . . or am i missing something here?

A Toxic Dragon. There has to be one near Nagasaki or Hiroshima.
Or maybe an enormous Toxic Free Spirit (Beast or Fire, maybe)?

Closest I can recall was Bloodzilla, but that was named by a player.

PS In Mutants and Masterminds' Freedom City setting, there is a small island in the Pacific called Kaiju Island (spelling?). For some reason, everything grows big and mutated there, including giant Godzilla-like lizards that breathe fire...
GreyBrother
Since Godzilla is really "just" a movie creature and not a legend (AFAIK, prove me wrong) there is no reason. But it would be awesome if a dragon leveld a to... oh wait, didn't Lung destroy Teheran?
paws2sky
I think it was Aden (spelling?) that destroyed Tehran.

And don't get me started about that bit of canon stupidity.

Matsci
And/or Ghostwalker vs Denver.

Godzilla is just a movie monster in shadowrun.

Or awesomeness. Sometimes one has to wonder about how "destroyed" is being used. And other times, one has to turn on their suspension of disbelief.

Grow up in CFS and you get a free indoctrination to the absurd in Shadowrun early.
Jaid
only mention i can think of godzilla in shadowrun is i think one of the adventures has a meeting in a club that is godzilla themed... can't for the life of me remember which adventure. maybe one of the missions?
crash2029
The club was The Rubber Suit in the module Survival of the Fittest.

I suppose. Since I've never played a game set out side North America, let alone the Middle East, its really a moot point. Still... the whole thing is too off-handed flippant for my tastes.

I guess I'll take your work for that.

Originally detailed in the 1st edition SSB, if I recall correctly. Also, it is an Awesome place.

Ancient History
I worked a Gojira reference into the Neo-Tokyo section of Corporate Enclaves. Kaiju represent, yo!
Stahlseele
figures. Uncle Ancient: King of Nerds ^^
Edit:
heh, found it. first bit of shadow talk too ^^
BIG BAD BEESTE
There's an off-hand reference in Shadows of Asia - Oceania chapter. Also a few nice cross-genre puns regarding the Shadowtalker commenting on fish-people. wink.gif

I remember playing Survival of the Fittest. We had a meet in the Rubber Suit. One hell of a gunfight ensued. Heh. Good times.
MrTim
Rubber Suit? I thought the Gojira-themed club was Tokyo Shoe.
Vermithrax
Tokyo Shoe got the complete first-printing Gojira collection and related films from Dunkelzhan's will.
I hadnt heard of it until then.
The Rubber Suit is a different club altogether.

I guess Seattle has 2 Kaiju themed clubs.

100 foot tall fire breathing lizards with brains the size of a walnut, come on chummers, let's get real here. That's just a sim.

For comparison sake and due to being bored at the 2am.

Large iguana: 22 pounds (4 feet)
Original Godzilla: 20,000 tons (164 feet), iguana would be .00005% (weight)
'91+ Godzilla: 60,000 tons (328 feet), iguana would be .000017% (weight)

Either way that would make for one gigantic walnut.
GreyBrother
Not to mention the fact that the size of the brain has not much to do with intelligence.
Stahlseele
True dat, Trolls have the biggest Heads of all Metahumans and look what they got.
Also, compare Humans with Cats.
