December 31, 2072

Zurich Orbital: The Headquarters of the Corporate Court. Its oval table framed by a large image of the world spread out across the wall. Perhaps it was real or computer generated. Nonetheless it shone with an inner perfection.

The head of the corporate Court smiled from the TriD, surrounding him was the other corps representatives all equally smiling. Ares next to Aztechnology; Evo with Horizon and Wuxing; Mitsuhama, Renraku, and NeoNET together in a row. The Head of Shiawase, Korin Yaman, who was also the chair of the Corporate Court smiled at the world.

"Good day, dear corporate citizens. Corporate sales have been up and it looks like it will be a glorious year for 2073..."

The image distorted and went dead. The corporate Court room swam back into focus. A woman in a green shift with stylised swirls along its border walked into frame. She had long curling brown hair, her skin was brown from the sun. She smiled with pearly white teeth.

"Hello World. My name is Pandora. Too long have we walked under the shadows of the corporate world. Too long have power been amassed by the few. I seek to give back some of the gifts to the world."

She walked over to the portal with bare feet, bells on her foot jingled lightly and looked at the sight of the world. A small blossom could be seen between the Pacific and Caribbean Oceans. "My first gift to you is fire. May it lance a boil."

She smiles and brushes her hair from her face. "I have seeded the Earth with many such kinds of gifts."

She holds out a box, peeking under the lid for a second before adressing the TriD, "Although, I have decided though to keep one gift for myself." The camera panned to her face as she winked. "I will be seeing you."

January 8, 2073

The TriD went dead, the newscast had gone on before it could be cut off and had been broadcast around the world. A week later, everyone from Horizon talking heads to Shadowland clueless argued about who she was and if she was real. Tales and rumors heaped on top of each other created a global spectacle promised to blow over in a few months - if it was not for one fact.

Mr Johnson coughed politely and spoke up, "For those of you who do not know, a 10.4 Mt hydrogen bomb was detonated above Tenochtitlan, Aztlan 8 days ago. Out of 30,000,000 in the metropolitan area only 1% of its population survived."

Aztechnology's stock was in free-fall, Aztlan had imploded.

"What is not known is this." He showed news raw footage from a Horizon aerial long range drone after the blast. In the unmoving desolation a girl was sitting on the steps of what may have once been an office building, nothing had survived that was 3 feet above the blast. The camera zoomed in on the girl, the undeniable facial image of Pandora appeared.

Mr. Johnson looked at the assembled runners. "My client is very interested in the apprehension of this woman, preferably alive or if not in small sized pieces. With successful completion of this run we would be willing to pay you 15 million nuyen a piece and have you transported to any location on earth with the proper documentation."

"Questions?"

Are you using Unwired for this one?

edit - What about cap's and availability and stuff?

Initiation/Submersion etc?
Chrysalis
Unwired is available.

Max Physical Mental Abilities: 250BPs
350,000 nuyen max for gear (70BPs)
Max Availability: 14

Initiation/Submersion etc. are available.
Digital Heroin
Consider me intrigued by this. I've got an idea for an ex-military communications specialist/technomancer running around in my head, but I may scrap that, yet...

Any books barred?

What's the BP cost for Initiation/Submersion? (Color me foolish for asking if it's common knowledge, my brain's on the fritz.)
crizh
So may possibilities.....

B+E Specialist, melee adept, Dronomancer, mundane Hacker...

What sort of characters are you looking for here?

Apart from ones that speak Hungarian.....
DWC
Neat premise. Would you suggest avoiding characters that can't travel easily?
Digital Heroin
I've got one of the guys from my elsewise game interested as well. Seems he's intrigued to see what he can do with 500BP for his Famori Critter-Hunter Adept... Tank-guy. He's been lurking on the boards, hopefully he'll be able to register in time to tag this thread himself.

No Books Barred, but if there is something that looks hinky I will comment on it.

Initiation
The cost to initiate is equal to 10 + (Grade x 3) in Karma points. Characters who wish to initiate must pay that cost in order to achieve
their new grade.

A character’s initiate grade cannot exceed her Magic attribute. If a character’s Magic is reduced below her initiate grade, she loses that
level of initiation and the metamagic she gained with it.
SR4A:198

Submersion
Submersion is measured in grades, beginning with Grade 1 and increasing. Submersion has a Karma cost equal to 10 + (Grade x 3).

A technomancer’s grade cannot exceed his Resonance attribute; if Resonance is ever reduced below the submersion grade, that level of submersion is lost.
SR4A:243

I would recommend on being able to travel without having to post yourself in a box.
Ears
Sounds interesting. After throwing a Mystic Adept together with 300 BP I'd really like to see what a 500 BP feels like to play. Till when do you want characters?

Till when do you want characters?

I am supposed to move this week, so I will say deadline for characters Friday 12th June, 4PM GMT.

That means that there will be one week for me to look through characters, allowing me to make my first post on the 17th June.
I would also like to have them posted in this thread so the other players can look at the characters and also point out any weaknesses.

Same way as in Behind the Shadows, you will be coming across items not described in the books.
crizh
Will you be converting BP's to karma on a 2 for 1 basis for buying stuff like Submersion?

What about Groups and Ordeals?
Zaranthan
If you've still got room, I've got a covert ops specialist I've been itching to put to the grindstone.

As this is a BP game, this is what I was getting at with my question.

Otherwise, I think the plan's gelling in my head a little better now. Travel should be easy enough for the guy I've got in mind... for his gear, well there's always having a high Loyalty UCAS military Loadmaster for a Contact.
Chrysalis
Page 124 of Runners Companion gives you information about group connections.

Ordeals are on page 50 of Street Magic.

1 karma = 2 BPs.
Spooky Jack
Good day.

Though new here, I was advised of this game by Digital Heroin. Located below is a short description of my character in action. He is an unarmed/grenade wielding Fomori Mystic Adept who's job history includes working as perimeter patrol for a Critter Bio-tech R&D facility (exterminating experiments that managed to break free before they could escape) and he's been working in the shadows ever since the facility was completely destroyed by another corp. Once I've finished my character sheet I'll send it your way... Cheers!

Dark ichor clawed a jagged path down a shimmering plated arm before flowing into a rushing stream that careened off his knuckles, slamming into the hot pavement below. A slight hiss escaped as his visor cracked open, revealing a ghostly pale face marred by dark paint that served to break the natural shadows and symmetry into a nigh unrecognizable work of facial graffiti.

The troll’s nose, like a glacier on the rugged mountain of his face, gently sniffed the air. Red eyes danced, his vision leaping from thermal to astral… and then every sense suddenly burned in recognition. The critter phased into existence overhead, a wounded and enraged 50 kilogram cyber-spider hell-bent for his head. Well… hell-bent anyway.

His visor snapped back into place as his armoured hand thundered up in an open palm strike… open, but not empty. The lethal HE grenade, encased in a custom barbed grapple sheath, dug into the half-mechanized creature’s hardened epidermal and held fast. Still grasping the munition, the troll aided the madly scrambling creature’s downward descent with a violent lurch. Ignoring the wickedly sharp blade tipped arachnid legs attempting to pierce his armour, the troll finished the arc, launching the arachnid down… down through the open sewer grate previously hidden by his monstrous bulk. Rolling away from the opening, pin in hand, he waited but a moment before the explosion screamed back up, magnified tenfold by the tunnel. A quick search of the enclosed space uncovered enough physical evidence for the grenade-wielding troll to confirm his kill. With one final glance at the spider’s astral signature to verify its demise, the troll lumbered off, heading back to the Lab, just another day on the job for Spooky Jack.

I'm wondering if it's possible to build a Technomancer/Street Samurai...

I shall away and crunch some numbers....
Mickle5125
if you need another, I've got a psyonics Tradition mage in mind.
Cthulhudreams
I'd be game too - throwing together a character. Just curious - I entirely respect your right to ban possession mages - why have you chosen to do so, so I can avoid the issues.
Chrysalis
I have had bad experiences with the invulnerability of possession mages. It basically means that when I start harming the possession mage, everyone else around that mage will be dead. Because of armor stacking the possession mage could have an armor of 30+ (at which point I start looking at RL missile systems and antitank weaponry).
Mickle5125
so how many players are you looking for?
pbangarth
Be afraid, all ye who enter this person's imagination.
Chrysalis
What do you mean? I am somewhat harmless.
tarbrush
Somewhat? Colour me worried. Looks fun though, so I'll see if I can put something together.

Are you sticking to the 35pt limit for advantages/disadvantages?

And also do you mean 1bp=2karma, instead of the other way round?
Chrysalis
Don't worry I have no intention on putting you on tenterhooks, yet.

Let's keep it on 35 pts on advantages/disadvantages.

And indeed, 1 BP = 2 karma nyahnyah.gif

I have to admit this is the second SR game I will be GMing...
crizh
If you're starting in 2073 is Adapsin available at chargen?

Assuming you take Restricted Gear for the Availability of 16?
Chrysalis
Yes it is available, as with anything above 14 you have to take the Restricted Gear quality.

-Laurie
Mickle5125
So how many players are you looking for? And how are you selecting who's in?
Chrysalis
I am looking at 4-5 players. The principle is those who make a character by the deadline of 13th of June are in.

Showing interest here is a clear sign of wanting to play.
DWC
Anywhere in particular that you'd prefer the characters to be based out of, or will it rapidly become irrelevent?
Chrysalis
I updated the opening post with most of the information. You will be starting in Seattle, but that will become greatly irrelevant.

-Chrysalis
Mister Juan
I'd actually be more than interested in throwing my hat in the ring as well!
I should have a quick background up by tonight, and probably a character sheet as well.

Hi Juan,

[ Spoiler ]
Mister Juan
@Chrysalis
Well, it's nothing PRECISE yet, but I was thinking about some VERY high up individual in one of the many crime syndicate. The Mafia is the first that comes to mind, but it could very well be one of the South American cartel.
Mickle5125
Are you going to allow a free contact points house rule?
Digital Heroin
With the heightened resources and availability, is Beta grade 'ware availiable?
imperialus
I might have to toss my hat in the ring here. I have an idea for a gunrunner/smuggler who might work well for a globetrotting campaign, at least for getting in and out of various third world hellholes and conflict zones. I'll have to get him up to 500 BP's and the 4A rules, but let me do some tinkering.

If it's not too much trouble would you be able to narrow down what general area we'd be globetrotting to? Just so I don't throw a ton of BP's into contacts in Manchuria only to have it turn out we're heading off to Tehran instead.
Chrysalis
Mickle,

I am unsure about it. I want detailed backgrounds, since it is what I really use as a GM. If I have to give incentives so be it.

imperialus,

Europe, Africa, Central and South America, maybe Australia.

DWC
50+ Questions for a potential character for comments. Still crunching the numbers, but I wanted to get this in here.

[ Spoiler ]

Chrysalis
DWC,

Thanks for the questionnaire, it was very nice. I got a good handle of what kind of character he is. I am also0 getting a good handle of the characters we have.
Mickle5125
Do you have a problem with custom spells created per Street Magic rules?
Chrysalis
No. But I will have the right to yank a spell if I think it breaks the game.
Mister Juan
@Chrysalis
Do you want us to post our Character Sheet here, or would you rather have them via PM or email?

Chrysalis
Juan,

Post them here.
Mickle5125
Thought I'd throw out a brief overview of my character.

Markus Cameron, aka "Doc Sci", is a physics professor at a local university. He spends a lot of his time traveling and researching the effects of psionic energy (magic) on the world. He has also produced a thesis on the means of expanding the range of psionic powers an individual possesses through understanding the physics behind the power.

The current issue I find myself facing is: which aspect of psionics should Doc Sci start out with? I'm currently bouncing between pyrokinesics (provides for easy transition into different elements and has the flavor awesomeness) and sonics (which would be more useful, spell effect wise, but would be less impressive). Does anyone have any preferences?
Mister Juan
Spoilered everything not because it is secret, just to save space.

Wow this is harder than I thought.

I was trying to make a Technomancer that filled the role of Physical Adept in Orbit but the numbers are looking intractable at the minute.

I was thinking the Biowires and Acceleration Echoes combined with using Resonance Trodes as an attack form might make a pretty cool melee character.

Can't seem to make it all add up though. I'm going to give it another go but I think I might go with something else.

Those two words jumped out at me and I was like "WTF?!?!" - then I reread it and LOLed.
Mickle5125
and I read your response and loled
Digital Heroin
I'm working on Frank MacPhóil, a former military communications specialist turned mercenary Technomancer. He's still being fleshed out, but Frank's gonna have one hell of a nasty rep (Mercenary Code and Bad Rep forming a big ball of Noteriety in him), but on not befitting a quiet professional. Too bad about his unit going rogue... even though he was severely injured in the fallout of their actions he still bears the stigma of them, and not just in body.
