Wait, so they're doing Bladerunner, for which they apparently have rights, but not "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep," for which they do not?

Hrm ...

I think it'll just be based loosely on the setting of Blade Runner, which they shouldn't have any problems doing. Combine this with news that Duncan Jones, the director of Moon, wants his next film to be a script he wrote called Mute, which is also inspired by the cyberpunk world of Blade Runner.

Even if they had rights for DADES, I can't imagine it would be half as exciting, honestly. I'd much rather a Blade Runner series than a DADES series.

Ok, this is all just my opinion.

Huge fan of Blade Runner, not so much of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. I have to give credit where it is do though, Phillip K. Dick's writing has been translated into film probably more than any other science fiction writer.

I have mixed feelings on Ridley Scott, I have the directors cut (without Deckard's naration) and the original version. For me, the original version with the voiceover naration is perfection, something that Scott did not want to include originally. Since I am a Film Noirs fan and Blade Runner is Science fiction noirs, the voiceover naration is essential.

The tv series could be a real crap shoot as far as the final product. Hope for the best but be prepared to disavow...like Highlander. rotate.gif

In related news BOOM! Studios is releasing the complete novel of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep in a 24-issue maxi-series comic book format.

The previews look very nice.

Try the short lived Showtime series Total Recall 2070. It's based more on Bladerunner than on Total Recall, though uses concepts from both. It was actually pretty good, but was canceled after one season due to management changes at Showtime.
