SPOILER ALERT

in the epiloge of SR:DF you meet Aljernon and Absinthe and if you had freed Firewing, Absinthe (some "astral entity in a woman's body") prophesises:
"Before the next cycle's end, the Feuerschwinge Wyrm will speak again with voice of Maiden. The Dancer will spin, the Seal will melt, the Calm Lake will burn again. This i prophesy."

I wonder how true SR Return's and Dragonfall's plots are to the original storyline and... if this prophesy concerns future (from 2054 and on) , does that meen we have already seen this prophesy to come true?
And does anyone have an idea what Calm Lake and Seal and Dancer can be ???
Ok, well, on the second thought, i have a coupe of wild guesses about the Seal (had to be fixed by a great sacrifice?) and the Calm Lake (not realy far from Portland?), but the Dancer?...

Please share your thoughts and ideas.

Best regars on my way to HongKong,
me.

The Dancer sounds like Harlequin. The Calm Lake That Will Burn Again sounds like Crater Lake in Tir Tairngire.

Also, you do realize the PnP is currently in the 2070's, right?

"the Feuerschwinge Wyrm will speak again with voice of Maiden" - probably speaking of the SOX plot of the German publisher. Their Children of the Fire nuclear toxic cult is led by the Maiden, after all.

"The Dancer will spin" - could be Harlequin, could be either Sam Verner or Daniel "Howling Coyote" Coleman (both led a Great Ghost Dance). Which led to ...

"the Seal will melt" - hellgates open to the deep metaplanes and nameless horrors enter the world, cats and dogs sleeping together, total anarchy, the end of days. Also, the plot of Harlequin's Back, a beloved/hated adventure supplement, the Secrets of Power novel trilogy and the ongoing Artefacts plotline. Arguably, the main plot of Hong Kong ties in with that too, though it could also tie in with the Pale Moon (a different metaplane full of different nameless horrors, though you'd probably not really notice while they eat you). Deep metaplane horrors stuff is quite important to Shadowrun's metaplot.

"the Calm Lake will burn again" - Crater Lake would be the obvious choice, but has it ever burned before? Is it known to be especially calm? Could also be a reference to the Baikal lake plot.

Although those all sound plausible, I hope the prophecy refers, at least in part, to things waaaay down the road. Why? Because the first line starts with 'Before the next cycle's end...' and if all this stuff happens or happened in the 10 or 20 years after the prophecy that doesn't bode well for how long the cycle of magic is going to be. These things are supposed to last 5000 years or something so why make a prophecy that is going to be resolved in the next decade? If the imminent end of the cycle isn't somehow tied to the prophecy why reference the end of the cycle?

Well, I certainly hope they'll stay away from the Horrorpocalypse for the forseeable future.

I'd like to see it as a (noncanon) campaign book, though.

Hellgate London has novels, I think. And there's a gazillion other movies with that plot. It's pretty much standard fare.

Allegedly Crater Lake is flat as a mirror most of the time, plus it was the site of a Horror breakthrough already, so indeed it seems like the obvious candidate.

So Feuerschwinge will somehow again speak through a woman (possession? speaker?) and there will be another Ghost Dance with the usual list of side effects...

What's the "Baikal plot"?
Quite clear with the rest.

Oh, and what does Harlequin have to do with Dancing???

I was soooo happy about HBS adding the horror-plot-line to Dragonfall Director's Cut)) Don't meen to advertise))

Well, i would accept H-apocalyps by Jordan Weisman, why not. Better than where it is going under catalyst.
At least you can be sure it would be authentic and real fun.

Agreed about the lake.

Firewing has already done it in computer game by HBS, Jordan Weisman.

And GGD 2.0 - wasn't it... i don't know... what the Winternight tried to initiate? Or just what is waiting for us ahead.

'bout the lake - there was a plot of complete blockout of the area and some flying cubic buildings emerging from the past.., of from above. Don't remember the timeline((

Harlequins dance. It's what they do.

Do you own the SOX book?

There is a rebel group called Sagan Zaba in Yakut, which tries to depose the oppressive regime of shapeshifters ruling Yakut. Apparently, they found some kind of artifact on the Olkhon island in Lake Baykal/Baikal that helps their fight and revealed that a free spirit called Vernya is pulling the strings behind the shapeshifters. But I don't think it has ever been established what the artifact actually is.

Yep, but apart from Ignifera being a woman is there something more concrete which would tie her to the prophecy?

oh, THAT ... Thanks!
My subcontious just got rid of the official info on Mother Russia... well, Russia has always been one of the weakest points in the whole setting)) When i launched my Fare East compane i competely rewrote the RF background.

It is pretty strongly hinted that she contains the spirit of Feuerschwinge. Either there or in one of Heintz' novels. Seems the ongoing development in Novapuls publishings, too.

Compared to places like Africa or India it's masterful world building wink.gif

Yeah, that half-soviet-union-half-russian-nationalists-something-something-vodka approach resulted in a very messy setting.
