OK folks, I told my GM I'd put this up for him.

We're currently 'running in the Reston/Chantilly area, and we have a fifth seat that has trouble staying filled (scheduling issues).

We're about to switch to Friday nights from 18:30 or so until midnight or whenever everybody starts to pumpkinate. We play at a private residence, and (good) coffee is always on the brew.

The current character group is "young" in their careers, but we're starting to move fast, so it won't be a problem to slot you right in. We're doing KarmaGen with some house tweaks that I doubt you're going to dislike. The GM's murder on munchkinism and at start doesn't want anything particularly "wicky". That's what character development is for.

Here's what we've got so far:

Kerenshara - you've met her in the Vignette Thread and any other place you've heard me talk about her. She's sort of our stealth and recon specialist, but no slouch in close.

Condor - Our rigger/hacker, always ready with a drone or gadget ready out of his a-er, back pocket. He's got some sweet contacts, too.

Elrond - (no comments) Elven Illusionist. Why do I call him an illusionist? Because he's bloody scarry with his illusions, and even more frightening with his manipulations.

John - Our resident sammy, every move and reaction screams "MILITARY!". He's tough up close and even uglier at a distance. If he says "go boom?", run, do not walk, in the opposite direction. Think the t-shirt from Sum of All Fears "I am a professional bomb technican; If you see me running, try to catch up."

NPC - Hardcore - melee combat specialist sammy who's no slouch with a gun either.

Things we don't have, and any of which would be a huge help:

A face.
A healer.
Somebody slinging combat mojo.
Somebody whose background allows them to have really extensive contacts.

More than anything else, we need somebody who's smart, creative, and willing to play 3+ times a month. An extra cranium at the table to help with puzzles and problems. Sense of humor (preferably warped) is a must. Tolerance of really bad puns, movie quotes and table side-talk will make your adjustment that much easier.

As a final note, this table is currently a bunch of "Professionals In Mirror Shades", with not a single pink mohawk in evidence, and the GM is treating us accordingly. There is a mysterious 3rd party currently pulling our strings and it's simultaneously keeping us motivated and helping us come together as a team.

If you're interested, our next game is the 18th of September (holidays and such); Drop me a PM and I'll give you more details. If you seem like a good fit, we're all (except Elrond's player) on Yahoo! Messenger. We also have a Yahoo! group, which doesn't get as much use as we'd like to be seeing.

Thanks in advance for your consideration, and I look foward to hearing from you, whoever you wind up being!

*EDIT - We're playing SR4, and are going to transition to SR4A probably after the current run.*

OK, we got our 5th, we could use a 6th. Anybody feel like playing Dirk Benedict's character in that cheesey 80's show that shall-not-be-named? We could really use somebody with a magic tongue, 'cause Johnson's pocketing the proceeds and we're making peanuts...

Hmmm...
I'm really interested, but kind of unsure.

My current job has me off on Fridays (and working in Herndon either way), so I'd absolutely be able to make it, but... I'm expecting word on a new job in the next 4 to 8 weeks, and have no idea what my schedule will be when it starts. It's downtown though, so I expect commutes to be murder.

Also. I'm a little frightened as to how rusty my player character chops may be. I've been running games in various systems (including Shadowrun 2e and 3e) for the past 15 years. I've not sat on the other side of the table in all that time, save for a couple of one-shot D&D adventures to try 4e.

Well, everybody but me and the GM are completely new to SR4 (2 completely new to SR at all), and the GM half the time looks at me whenever he needs a quick answer rather than delving into a book. Everybody's addapting pretty well, on the other hand. I wouldn't worry about it oversomuch. If you think you'd like to give it a shot or ask me about details, drop me a PM.

We have a bunch of SR4 gamers in NoVA/Chantilly area. Check out the DC/NoVA thread.

I'd like to swing by sometime just to meet the group...always good to see more SR players.

I saw that thread and a quick glance showed me it was an active group, so I figured to post our unique nature - and trust me, this group's about as excentric as you're likely to see.

Where we play, parking is at a SERIOUS premium, so just "stopping by" might not be the easiest option. If you'd like to sign on, of course, the hike might be worth you while. (It's a townhome community that considers the driveway of each residence to be 1.5 cars, plus the garages, so since NOBODY needs more than 2.5 cars in a townhouse, they seriously skimped on the overflow/guest parking. It's not like anybody uses their garage as a storage shed or anything, right?)

If you'd like to talk about it anyhow, send me a PM or say hi on Yahoo.
