Full Version: Standing down soon

Due to the constant issues that seem of late to be plagueing Shadowrun Missions availability I am sadden to say I'll be stopping my game days at Sci-Fi City for the time being starting in the new year.

I will continue to run games at Megacon but that will probally be all I can do due to as I said the issues that seem to make it impossible for new Shadowrun Missions to come out more than once a year at Gencon.

After seeing that Missions 03-05 could not get posted for September which was written and has been run for over a year along with this months missing Mission 03-06.

Add in the fact that the demo team is supposed to get new Missions one month before the public gets them and that the majority of us have yet to see a new Mission in over a year.

This makes me feel it is time to take a break and see how things advance from here.

Missions is a great "live" campain however it seems to be dieing I have gone from a normal 6 to 9 players at Sci-Fi city to none as they have stopped coming.

For many traveling several miles and expending several gallons of gas which is still fairly costly even today to see nothing new was not worth it.

Not everyone can go to Gencon in order to play Shadowrun Missions they look forward to being able to play at the store and see their characters advance.

However as I said over a year of nothing new they have lost faith in the game and hope in seeing their characters advance ever again.

I am under the impression I am considered to be at the least very annoying in asking about new Missions an what not but I have done so at the behest of my players.

Because of certin commentary made by certin people to the general public at Gencon and the lack of new Missions for the demo team and the public I feel now is the time to step back and take a break.

I hope the near future sees this problem adderssed if so I'll once again get back to running games on a monthly basis.

I wouldn't worry about being annoying about this Caz. Sometimes folks need prodded. But it's a shame to see you stepping down from regular games. frown.gif

I do agree that Missions getting updated and released is a problem, though. Missions needs regular forward momentum. I'll poke people myself and see what's what.

Joel--

I'm sorry to see you go. Please know that Aaron and I are working with TPTB to give us back some control of release schedules so that the Missions don't continue to bottleneck and get released late. As Mark mentioned, there are some underlying issues that go beyond my paygrade and I am not able to discuss them. While I cannot speak for others, please know that I personally do not find your requests for new Missions annoying. As I've said before, I understand the frustration that you must be feeling and take responsibility for being the bearer of some unpopular announcements. I can empathize with the difficulties you and others face as GMs and representatives for CGL's Demo Team--afterall how can you demo a game if we aren't giving you new stuff to show off?

I look forward to working with you in the future for upcoming MegaCons and hope to have new Missions to you before the timeline for your retirement hits.

As an update, I got some good news over the weekend. More to announce as I'm allowed to.

I was going to post a similar bit of concern although my involvement has been a whole lot more limited. When I played SRM at last years origins I was HOOKED. So much so that I put a group together and begun running/playing through the denver missions. I bought and ate a few of the newer missions as well and ran them and people loved them. I was going to eat a few more but honestly it feels like the campaign a is dead in the water, no release in three months almost and preceeding that there is a two month lull. This is distrubing considering I know that up to like SRM 12 is in the can and was running at Gencon but i can't bring the modules I played at Origins and Gencon to the store and home games because they seem to be indefinite hold. In short I want to grow the campaign in my area I want to buy and run modules but right now it feels like a futile effort.

I can't say anything for certain, because I'm not directly in the production pipeline post-editing, but I believe said pipe has recently been unclogged to some degree. The spice must flow!1

1By "spice" I mean "adventures."

It's true, ain't it? Folks might mention the good stuff, but discuss, debate, and otherwise complain about the bad stuff. =i)
