Just curious, I mean obviously if I see Adam Jury as the author of something I'm going to be able to figure that out.

Same goes for Jon Stezo.

What about the rest though?
Jestyr
I'll list the membernames of our freelancer members, but in the case of those who've used nicks I'm not going to match their real names:

Adam, me, Pistons, Bull, spudman, Jak, Jon Szeto, Lady Anaka, Patrick Goodman, Steve Kenson, winterhawk11, Gurth, Synner (and various other folks on the SoE project; sorry, but I don't know who you are! smile.gif), Havoc, Flake.

If I've missed anyone, it's because it's 2am. Sorry wink.gif

...actually, I'm sure I have missed people. Feel free to pipe up. smile.gif
otaku mike
Otaku Mike, aka Mikael Brodu.
First contribution in the upcoming Shadows of Europe, French chapter and all the maps.
I'm hoping to write a few bits more here and there for SR in the near future.
Synner
Well, my name's Peter Taylor and so far I've done stuff for DotSW, SSG and the upcoming SoE.

Pistons
It's not too hard to figure out who I am, for the very few who don't know already. smile.gif
Hot Wheels
You're one of the few I know. I thought about saying, but figured it was your secret to keep, or not.
Jestyr
Oh, yeah. I forgot the real name thing. smile.gif I'm Eleanor Holmes.

You're Pistons. What else is there to know?
Kanada Ten
Tzeentch, Dvixen...
Pistons
That "Pistons" doesn't show up in the writing credits, but my real name does in a few books. Not that it's a big deal ... just sayin', considering the thread's topic.

Heeey...are you the one who didn't include the Vancouver Canucks in the hockey section of SotA? mad.gif
Jestyr
biggrin.gif

Sorry, no. I didn't write anything sports-related for SotA. smile.gif I did genetech.
Nephyte
I was just reading Threat's 2, wanting to brush up on the Aleph society due to a conversation about it on the Shadowrun Game forum.

You know what I found, my name as a Shadowtalker. I would just like to say Ken Peters* (and yes I know what your forum name is; just seems some of the authors would prefer not to give out their real name so I won't make the connection.) Rocks Very Much Hugely.

Oddly, I am getting way to excited about this I think, but damn it, my room mate agrees if he opened up a book and saw RekStarlord as a Shadowtalker he'd get excited too. He went on to mention that he'd buy every damned thing to do with Shadowrun from then on. If I didn't do this already, I probably would to!

Ok, Fanboidome calming down now. Just, super cool!

Is that all it'd take? Guess I'll start looking for a way to use that name in shadowtalk ... wink.gif (Yup, we write the shadowtalk for the most part.)
winterhawk11
Kinda makes you wonder what else folks would be willing to do to get their names in shadowtalk, doesn't it? smile.gif

Kidding! I kid, Rob! smile.gif
EVLTIM
Anybody need a slightly used Kidney? wink.gif
BIG BAD BEESTE
Buy them beer at conventions. Offer them a place to crash when they knock unexpectedly at your door. Feed them? (If only writing paid for those luxury hotels and room service, eh?) wink.gif

Oh, or you could upset them. I bet that'd get your Street Name in the Shadowtalk. Those runners who arse everyone else off need names too you know...

"Hey bob - says here in this sourcebook that your character's been turned into ghoul-chow. Yup - page 14, that's official. Better get a new one Bob." [vegm]
Lady Anaka
Duh. I should check back here more often.

I'm Michelle Lyons, in case anyone wasn't sure. I edit as much as write these days, but I still show up on occasion.

Oh, and I'm the one who did Culture Shock for SOTA. Sorry Mikey, you'll have to get used to disappointment. smile.gif
Mongoose
I'm Sebastian Wiers, contributing author M&M, Matrix, T:Matrix, Cannon Companion. Not big into writing fictional stuff. I haven't been playing the game for quite a while, because that's where the friends I played with (Rob Boyle and co.) are, and I don't really have any friends here in Minneapolis.

Mongoose was a farily long lived character of mine an appears in Shadowtalk exactly once, in T: Smugglers Havens.

I think my writing credit did actually help me get a job, sort of, although looking back I suppose they would have just as soon hired a chimp.
ThatPaolo
Paolo Marcucci, I conceived and wrote the Programming Rules for Matrix (with some writing help from Jon smile.gif). I also edited some sections of CC. I don't even remember if my last time as a GM was in Italy or Canada... Last time I was a player in a Shadowrun game we won the GenCon tourney.

Makes sense to leave when you're at the top biggrin.gif

Hey, there is nothing like buying Customer Loyalty, and lets face it - Shadowrun has an excellent way of doing this if they so chose.

Sadly, I was looking through the old boards and realized that I had found my name quite some time ago. I had managed to forget (though I have been buying all the books!) and got all excited a second time. That's just bad....

[fanboy] from the bottom of my heart: you guys rock.[/fanboy]

And you're the luckiest sons/daughters of slitches around. What I wouldn't give...
TW
I'm Tobias Wolter, so far I've worked on some of the german dragons (Kaltenstein & Schwartzkopf) plus polish wyrm Calozerca for Dot6W, the 2003 german-only release "Shockwaves" and the upcoming SoE and did one article for GU so far (though I dunno if it's published yet).

Opportunity doesn't come around, knock on your door, and say "Yo! What's up?" - you have to seek it out, open the door, open it again when it gets slammed in your face, and make things happen.

Listen to the man. Tobias Wolter, Lars Blumenstein, Costan Sequeiras, Mikael Brodu and myself among others made a nice little battering ram out of the EuroSB and knocked that door in, so we can attest to the fact that it works wink.gif.
spudman
^^ ++

I had an adventure idea rejected, but found a way to get most of that stuff back in to a section on another book. I even made a reference to the name of the central location in that adventure. Persistance is key.
Mongoose
I gotta agree with Adam and Synner, and disagree. I defiantley had opportunity knock on the door very loud- Rob B. asked me to work on M&M with him; he was owrking at FASA at the time but didn't (iirc) have an author crediut yet and was actually laid off for a long time.

Still, the basic idea remains the same- know your audience, stay on topic, and put in the extra mile (and then some) to make the best submission you can.

We prepped a MAMMOTH submission, working our asses off to cover ideas for pretty much the entire damn book (some parts much better than others). I know our stuff had to satand on its own merits, because a huge majority of it never got past the submission stage, but it helped a hell of a lot to have an understanding of what FASA was looking for.

That doesn't even begin to include the hundred plus hours I spent on actual writing, slaving away in an attic appartment in the middle of summer, trying to meet a deadline as my computer crashed every few hours from the motherboard cooking itself from dealing with over-size files...

Hot Wheels
My suggestions for Cyber S&M was rejected, but i suspect someone somewhere has some very kinky house rules.
ialdabaoth
Now THAT I'd be interested to hear.
Buzzed
Pardon my ignorance, but what is Cyber S&M?
Pistons
I couldn't tell you about cyber S&M (and neither do I want to know about it), but the S&M comes from "sadism & masochism."
Bull
I'm generally not too hard to figure out, as my name is pretty much plastered all over the net one way or another, if you know where to look. Also, the Steven "Bull" Ratkovich in the playtest/writing credits tends to give it away too wink.gif

So far I've done Playtesting for SR3, MITS, Rigger 3, and Cannon Companion. I was a contributing author for Year of the Comet and Dragons of the 6th World, and I was contributor on the concept and design for YotC.

Most freelancers aren't secretive, but... Don;t ask for Dvixen's name ork.gif She's shy. wink.gif

And there was me following the old Names have power concept. Then again the handle i have selected is more than appropriate for the job. nyahnyah.gif

Vagabond
Since most of the writers are eyeballin this thread- I just want to say I think all of you are doing a hell of a job. I think the mechanics and the lore of Shadowrun are easier to swallow now more than ever. It's obvious that for each of you it's more than a job, it's a passion, and it shows with every stroke of the proverbial pen. This coming from a grizzled "We had a threat pool and we *liked* it" SR2 grumpy old man. You guys and gals done good. Keep it up, and keep 'em coming.

Thanks.

More lies. Bull refers to "Bull Dyke", she lives in Phoenix. It's true I tell ya.

I even refrain from calling them at 2am when I'm drunk! (And really, you'd think that'd be worth something)
BIG BAD BEESTE
Guess you'll have to revert to ringing their doorbell and running away MooCow me old mucker.

I tend to get more reaction waiting for them to answer it biggrin.gif

Knock, knock!

You've yet to buy me a beer, Moo. (Not that I want any; I can't drink it. Cider, on the other hand... biggrin.gif)

And you called spud ... what time was that? "I'm a pretty lady!" rotfl.gif
Kurb
I have to agree with spotlight, you guys rock. Thanks to you and many others that work on Shadowrun products, you keep my pockets empty, my days busy, and make me the happiest GM in the world! biggrin.gif

Right. I'll add that to my list of things to do at DrinkCon next year. "Get Pistons Drunk".

I called him at midnight on New Years, which doesn't count. wink.gif
BIG BAD BEESTE
Hmmm, beats Halloween when your Dead pissed mates ring you up and leave all sorts of Blargh on the answerphone. pumpkin.gif

And you're a cider drinker too are ya Pistons? Cool. Do you like mead as well?
Pistons
Cider, mead, wine, hard liquor ... so long as it's sweet. I don't think it's advisable to get me drunk, though. (I will say though, that if you have a mead that's a bit too dry or flat for your tastes, open up some pixy stix. Thank me later.)

So, to try to haul this back on topic, I don't suppose anyone's still wondering who the various authors are?
Lindt
Heh, the authors are all those nut cases GMing at GenCon every year...
Patrick Goodman
QUOTE (Lindt)

Not all of us GM at GenCon, though I'm not certain if the reverse has been true for the last couple of years....
BIG BAD BEESTE
What you mean they're all the nutjobs playing SR at GenCon every year? Hmmm, sounds about right - after all, when is the last time we actually played SR?

PS> I do it for first hand product feedback, the lack of people who can tell me how the game is suppossed to run, and for whatever respect and free beer I can garner out of it. Oh yeah, and to get my Evil GM Kicks by tormenting unsuspecting players with really bad accents and screwy pre-gen characters. (After all my regular players have become somewhat jaded and thus immunised themselves to my techniques. I need fresh meat!)

Sade, MooCow, Spudman, Drucilla...who else?
Jon Szeto

Sade, MooCow, Spudman, Drucilla...

Only spud has written for Shadowrun from that list.

I've GMed for the GenCon tournament, as has Bull, Rat, and Rich Tomasso (Corporate Punishment, WotC). Andy Frades (Corp. Punishment & WotC also) has GMed Origins but never GenCon, I think. I'm pretty sure that Bull also conned Pistons into GMing a round or two for GenCon as well. ork.gif

Yup. Not this years one, but the year before that IIRC.
bitrunner
I'm old school - Rich Osterhout - most of my stuff was during the SR2 days...just getting back into the swing of things now....currently ramping up the Shadowrun Missions campaign system...but back in the day i did some stuff - especially the Corporate Security Handbook with Mike Colton and took over writing/running the Gencon tourneys from Mike for a couple of years (like 8?) until handing the reins over to Bull...i'm probably best known for Gamma Scopolamine and the other nasty chemical weapons and drones in the CorpSec book...also worked on other SR2 stuff and a lot of the groundwork for SR3...
Kinda dropped off to work on other projects for a while, but like I said, I'm comin' back...
