Hmmm. maybe I'm reading Metavarants incorrectly, but it seems to me, ravensoracle, that you are paying twice for things like arcane arrester, etc. They come in the original BP cost of the Metavariant, don't they?
ravensoracle
Ok I miised the metagenic improvement for Body. So I fixed that. I am paying for surge not for the Fomori metagenic qualities but for additional qualities: the Improvement to Agility and the Astral Hazing. The improvements for the Fomori are included in the cost for the Metavariant like you thought, Grudge is just Surged beyond that.

EDIT: After a bout or two, every character's tricks will be evident anyway.

Depends on how many tricks we have wink.gif

Ah, I didn't look closely enough. Sorry. I'm considering a Fomori PC as well, so I was concerned I didn't understand the system.

Here, nearly done, I have a nasty suspicion he's not well optimized for this sort of game but he was a fun concept to play with.

It has been said that down through the ages men have dominated women out of fear... fear of their reproductive power, their magic, their ability to control men.

Onto this stage, this combat arena, strides an avatar of that fear. A thing terrible to behold, straight out of the nightmares of many a man. I bring you...

... Willow.

He actually might be able to get away with it!

Quick Question: Would the background count do anything with the fact that the spirit is invoked?
pbangarth
If Willow got within the area of the Background Count (not something she would particularly want to do, as she is partial to shooting things with her assault rifle), the spirit's Force would be reduced, and thereby all the stats augmented by it, maybe even the number of optional powers, but I don't see how it could retroactively 'un-invoke' the spirit. I don't know, maybe it would force another Invoking Test, but there is no precedent for that kind of effect.
crizh
Wow, Willow is a scary piece of work.

A nice combo of Possession, Plant Spirits and Invoking. No intention of ever agreeing to a match against that.

Is Grudge right? He seems to have 30 points of Surge qualities and no matching disadvantages. It's a nice combo though. With both Arcane Arrester and Astral Hazing a Force 10 Manabolt will only have a base damage of 3 and a max of 9. At Force 6 that drops to 1 and 3. Nasty.
ravensoracle
I haven't had a chance to play around with invoked spirits so I wasn't really sure of the rules. There is nothing that I can see with a quick look. Mainly I was wondering if there was a min force limit for invoked spirits but I see that there isn't.

She's definitely a challenge though. I would like to see that fight. I think a some of it depends on how long I got to stay in the ring before the fight to allow the BC area to grow. I mean one of the biggest obstacles is getting around that high Bod mixed with Regen. I'd definitely have to close and keep the ranges short. Getting that gun out of her hand would be a priority.
ravensoracle
Astral Hazing is a 10pt Disadvantage. It's great in a fight but I get no magical healing and a natural anymosity by any awakened. I got to be careful to keep my distance from magical teamates as well so as not to handicap them.
crizh
Hah, doh!

You would really have to be having sex with an allied mage to disadvantage them, it's only Essence meters after all.

I was looking through Willow and noticed you've only left 7500 to buy armour. You ain't getting 20 points of armour for that much....
ravensoracle
It does grow though if I stay in one place for too long a time. Mainly I just gotta be careful not to touch a party member while the are casting a spell.

Yeah, by like a meter every hour or something like that. It might be an annoyance to a mage if you live next door to them, but otherwise it isn't going to affect much with that kind of growth rate.

I mean, unless they let you sleep in the ring or something before the fight and you don't have to use the restroom when you wake up.

Quite right. She could start the matches with 17/14 for 3500 nuyen, and work her way up with her winnings. So, at the start, she could have a Damage resistance of 20 + 17 + 10 = 47, and with an attack of AP -5, that would be reduced to 37, which would have about 12 hits to reduce damage. Her REA is 12, so that takes the damage down by about 4, so as long as the attack starts at no higher than DV 16, she should be OK. This leaves 3500 nuyen for a weapon, ammo and some kind of lifestyle. The cool thing about this level of armour is that she can wear it even when she is not possessed.

Or, I could give her a fixer of 3/1 instead of 4/1, and with the extra 5000 nuyen buy her a ballistic shield and gyro stabilization right from the start, adding +6/+4. As I say, it really is impossible to get as much armour as she can carry.
ravensoracle
How do you get 17/14 for 3500?

Armor Jacket 8/6 -- 900
helmet +1/+2 -- 100
FFBA - full 6/2 -- 1,600
PPP ( all but helmet) +2/+4 -- 900
TOTAL: 17/14 -- 3500 nuyen
ravensoracle
Ahhh, Okay. I don't play trolls that often so I haven't had to worry about getting armor that high.
crizh
Yeah, just armour is pretty cheap. Armour with useful mods, like non-conductive, gets mondo expensive real fast.
ravensoracle
I haven't seen Dumori post here for a few days. After reading Pbangarth's post I hoping this one isn't losing momentum before it gets started.
pbangarth
One of the things I wonder is whether the Christmas season is a bad time for games, because so many of us are students who go 'home for the holidays'.
crizh
Juggled some stuff around and squeezed in another weapon system and shamelessly stole Astral Hazing as an Arcane defence. Messed around with changeling stuff to make him faster and more agile.
