Full Version: Docwagon Code Black OOC Thread
Dumpshock Forums > Discussion > Welcome to the Shadows
Pages: 1, 2, 3, 4
LurkerOutThere
This is the docwagon code black thread. In the name of my sanity please make your first post be a Description of your character including name and call sign, a one line summation of what you bring to a team and then maybe some notes on your personality or disposition and maybe what would be publicly known about your character and you may include a note for flavor. You may also post your characters character sheet if you wish but you must spoiler tag it!. After that please do not post here again until i give the go ahead after all folks are done posting their characters. In the interim feel free to continue to use the recruitment thread to ask questions and OOC chit chat. Though I havn't played many PbP shadowrun games I have done others and just a casual look around the board tells me this thread will get about couple hundred posts long if the game goes on for any length of time. These steps ensure that I or anyone else can just flip back here to know everything there is to know on the surface about your characters.

Jebediah "Jeb" Robards
Race: Human
Call Sign - Round Up
Role: Director, Code Black Operations
Jeb is the sort of guy you either think is great or you despise, similarly while he can be a great ally and even a good friend his enemies rarely live long enough (professionally speaking mostly) to appreciate the depth of the mistake they made. Jeb is a smooth talkin' cowboy Texas style always looking for the next angle disarming opponents and friends alike with a southern drawl the covers for his keen intellect and political acumen. Though no one can recall Jeb ever doing wrong by his subordinates he recieved his first team leader role after turning in the sitting TL and half the team for organ legging. That blemish and the vague suspicion that Jeb sees his subordinates more as tools and means to his own ascendancy puts people slightly off. Of course Jeb would be the first to defend and point out that only a fool of a gunfighter takes anything less than the best care of his tools. Even with all that Jeb was instrumental in getting Code Black the positive press and the corporate co-operation needed to get it off the ground in Manhattan and the company hopes he can repeat this feat in Seattle.
Quote: "Now I might not be the smartest guy in the room but...."

Coleen Steffano
Race: Human
Call sign - Mizz Fixit
Role: Armorer
A transplant from Manhattan Coleen is a sixth generation mechanic who's mother happened to be a gunsmith and armorer. As such Coleen can build, repair, customize, and fix anything with moving parts or armor slapped on it. She even dabbles a bit in electonics and computers on occasion although she has a healthy distrust for any more complicated than a food processor unit. Coleen was brought from new york specifically by Director Robards to provide the new teams with some of the unit cohesion they would need in the face of stressful situations. In addition to being a great technical person she's a fantastic listener and quite the cook. While the food processor in the Code Black communal area isn't quite up to her specs she does work wonders with it.

Randy Kohl
Race: Dwarf
Call Sign - Kritzkreig
Roll: Security Spider
Most people don't have anything positive to say about Randy on the best of days. He's antisocial, curt, and occasionally quite rude. However as a docwagon security spider he gets the inglorious task of protecting both the facilities and the teams in the field and their gear from their enemies. His flaws are tolerated because he is very very good at his job and an absolutely frightening cyber combatant. The fact that his appearance and mannerisms give the impression that he's one lab accident away from supervillianhood don't hurt.

Peter Delgado
Race: Ork
Call Sign: Duster
Role: Pilot/Driver
Duster likes to joke that after his stint at Docwagon is done he's going to retire to a nice quiet cab driver job to relax and round out his tour of the most dangerous job's a ork can have. Duster got his first taste of the power of military and combat driver as an armored cavalry officer in the Sioux military. Discrimination against him both as an Ork and as Spaniard quickly brought that career to an end. He joined Doc Wagon first as an a driver/medic on a medical transport and then as pure pilot/driver on HTRT and search and rescue before beating out other applicants to join the Code Black Team. While duster prefers choppers for their habit of flipping Newton the bird he can handle most any vehicle his job requires.
"Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil for the lord is my shepherd and the engines are redlining."

Standard Docwagon HTRT Loadout
Doc Wagon Full body Armor and Helmet 12/10
Armor Has fire resistance 4, Chemical (and biological seal) and biomonitor, integrated
Helmet has low light, smart link, infrared and image link as well as an external camera Sound dampening and sound record. (The system satisfies enough sensor channels for a rating 2 tac-soft out of the box. Unless you're a mage in which case you get a more scaled down version of the goggles with image link and the audo enhancements only.
Other Gear:
Erika Elite commlink running Iris Orb
Weapons:
Enfield AS7 [Shotgun DV 9P -1AP (Net +1 when firing gels) SA/BF, RC 4 Ammo: 24(d) w/ gas-vent 3, personalized grip, smartlink w/ improved guncam and all the gel rounds you could want.

Name: Kristof Vide
Callsign: Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot (JK- haven't come up with one yet)

Role: Infiltration\Combat\Demolitions\Tech\Investigative Skills\Aircraft Pilot

Kristof not only brings in the finesse of a well trained combatant, but also brains and some legitimacy of a Law Enforcement Officer. He began his career as a member of Knight Errant's HTRT and moved up to becoming a Investigator. He still retains strong connections within the KE and since the change-up with LoneStar has become the teams unofficial liaison to KE. Kristof keeps his thumb on the pulse of the Shadows and knows the just of any big news. He can identify most known Runners from memory and is an adept Criminal Profiler. He's not really what one would call a smooth-talker though, preferring action to words.

Caitlin Tennant
Race: Elf
Callsign: Doctor
Role: Matrix and drone support, social damage control

Caitlin is known for two things: her skills in the Matrix, and her impulsive nature. She tries to live up to a strong code of ethics, but she's also prone to diving into things that seem interesting and fun. She joined DocWagon straight out of college, in early to mid 2064, having had part of her MIT&T tuition paid for in return for a 6 year contract. Near the end of that 6 years, she decided to stay on, running technical support in the field with Code Black operations in New York. When the option to come to Seattle came up, she jumped at the chance, though for reasons known only to her.

bmcoomes
Name: Ariel Juagahan
Race: Orc
Callsign: Mandirigma Makata or Makata (Tagalog for Warrior Poet or Poet)
Team Role: Combatives/Infiltration/Tactics
Ariel is a straight shooter he doesn't beat around the bush, life if too short for that crap. Coming from the FBI's ERT he brings a high speed low drag attitude to the team. He still has his friends over at the FBI which helps bridge the gap when things really get interesting. Ariel's not fond of all things Japanese because of his younger life under there oppression in the Philippines and he doesn't hide that fact. His sense of adventure has been known to get him into a little trouble but it's always to turn out right. He is your stereotypical "Operator" with all things being equal.
Quote: "Lead with speed, devour with power."
[ Spoiler ]
GrimWulf
Name: Helmet Leipzig
Callsign: German
Team Role: Infohacker/Operation Support

Helmut is an old hand at the 'trix, and old to boot. Well old for being an Ogre at least. He's been with Doc Wagon for some years now. Prior to that he was a communications officer with the Army back in the motherland. If you're looking for info, he's the guy to go to. When not on work time you can still typically find on hooked up to the matrix in some way or another, or maybe in the rec centre playing billiards, though he's no good at it. Although he does spend his fair share of time on the exercise equipment it only seems to keep his gut from getting too big.

At 35 he's starting to push the age expectancy for an Ogre, and he can feel it in his bones. It's not like he can afford the cred needed for that geneware either, so it's either work or sit at home and waste the rest of his life away. Besides, if he does really good at his job DW's one of the places he might possibly (even if remotely) be able to get the treatment done. And you can't blame an old guy for trying can you?

[ Spoiler ]
Mickle5125
Name: Vincent Mancini
Race: Elf
Callsign: TBD
Team Role: Face/Infiltration/combat

Vincent's an old hand at bodyguard/extraction missions. As a former freelancer, he saw his share of how things can go wrong. Therefore, when Colleen gave him a call about the new project she was a part of, Vincent jumped on the chance. After all, having the backing of a corporation like Docwagon will make it that much more likely that he'll be able to keep to his contracts successfully.

Realized I forgot to post this, so here it is.

Compiled a Data Sprite (Scribbles), 3 net hits, soaked all the Fading
Compile Data Sprite Sprite's Resist Fading (9d6.hits(5)=5, 6d6.hits(5)=2, 13d6.hits(5)=5)

....aaaaand we're open obviously.

Did you wanna set specific colors or fonts of text for specific things? like cyan for speaking, the pink for mental, yellow for Matrix texts, etc.
LurkerOutThere
I'm not opposed however I've never messed too much with them or played an online game on this board so i'll defer to the group consensus.
bmcoomes
Yeah I wasn't sure, so I went with some color too that I've seen to be some what standard around the forum.

Also as a heads up I'm Dyslexic so your for warned. Ask if things are weird and I'll try to fix them. I tend to swap out similar words one of my worst is Very and Vary.
Darquewing
I was trying to find one of the other threads that had some nice standardized font listings for various speaking/action options. Couldn't find it, so i went with something bright and somewhat offensive to the eyes.
LurkerOutThere
No worries on that score, sometimes my posts from work are going to be rather slap dash so fair warnign all around there as well. The initial post wasn't as clean as I might have wanted it, but at that point I just wanted to get something up and out there.
SleepIncarnate
Here's one of the better ones I've seen:
QUOTE (Trigger @ Dec 9 2009, 10:08 PM) *
Alright everyone, welcome to LA. I will probably have more to add to this later, but I wanted to get it started now.

We will be rolling dice using Invisible Castle, post links to the rolls here.

Also the color scheme will be as such:

Headers: "#FF8C00"
Speech: "cyan"
Text: "#A0552D"
Thoughts: "darkkhaki"
Spirit Communication: "#9932CC"
Memories: "silver" and Italicized
Subvocals: "#2E8B57"

Also, roll your starting nuyen and post the link here.

Let's get this thing rolling. smile.gif

Here's another decent one, but missing the spirit/sprite speech:
QUOTE (Penta @ Sep 19 2009, 01:50 PM) *
OOC: Use this thread for everything IC.

Posting Rules

Just like almost everyone else on the board I'm gonna be stealing Redjack's posting structure, so here you go.

All your posts should begin with a time/date stamp in orange, detailing location, time, and date. Underneath, in italics, add your PAN mode, hidden, active, or passive, in dark grey.

- - "Speech color=cyan, optionally enclosed in quotes" (Penta note: Quotes HIGHLY recommended!)
- - <Coms (subvocal) color=violet>
- - <Coms (Text) color=yellow>
- - Thoughts color=darkkhaki and in italics
- - Memories, flashbacks, dreams color=green and in italics

Spoiler all private actions, but if its something really private, or you're setting up a backstab, feel free to PM me.

bmcoomes
I'm fine with both, we can add in spirit/sprite speech.

edit: does anyone have the hex color code for the dark khaki from Tigger's quoted text?
GrimWulf
darkkhaki = #BDB76B
bmcoomes
Thanks GrimWulf that's much better I find it easier on the eyes.

Heh, you know what I love about this kind of stuff?

Everyone always says they're sitting at the rear to watch the other people's reactions. biggrin.gif
Not calling anyone out for it or anything, it's just an amusing trope.

I'm not even sitting, I'm standing, thank you very much.

Yea, but I called it first =) And I'm more to the side. Hard to see people's faces from the back. Anyhow, I really wanted to see what the speaker was going to say. Though any reaction from others is good too.
LurkerOutThere
I'm ok with any color scheme we can agree on and differentiate, for now we'll use Orange for time setting/pan info. Red will be used for any Electronic/AR/Subvoc non verbal stuff.

5 hits on Scribbles' data search for info on the trio who just walked into the room, what do we learn?
Data Search on the trio (14d6.hits(5)=5)

Edit: Can make it an extended test if more hits needed.
LurkerOutThere
FYI I did a Very Bad Thing™ and took last night and this mornign mostly off and work is a bear now that i'm at it. I'm still trying to dig myself out of all the mechanical related stuff. Most everyones good to go with a few questions.
LurkerOutThere
You will need to extend the test out if your going for all three, i'm looing for a total of 14 for you and anyone else doing searches.

Alright, so started with 5 hits, here's the rest of the rolls.

2nd roll, 4 hits (total 9)
Data search, 2nd roll (Threshold 14) (14d6.hits(5)=4)

3rd roll, 6 more hits, total 15
Data search, 3rd roll (Threshold 14) (14d6.hits(5)=6)

So that took Scribbles.... 3 intervals, guessing that makes it 3 minutes for entire Matrix search, but that also expends a task, 2 left.

SleepIncarnate
From trying to spy on them while leaving, under the assumption that they'll stay in the room and close the doors, jamming out the outside again.

Threading Command, only 1 hit, so dropped and went with Command from the link
Threading Command (9d6.hits(5)=1)

Drone will be on autonomous to follow them, and record.

Defaulting on palming, hid the drone fine (it's a -6 dice pool modifier to notice due to its small size)
hiding kanmushi drone (1d6.hits(5)=1)

hiding the link, 1 hit
hiding commlink (1d6.hits(5)=1)
ravensoracle
Rolling to see if I spot the bug being planted. Just for RP reasons.

UWB Radar for the Drone - UWB Radar- Intuition 5 + Perception 5 + Attention Coproccessor 3 - 6 for drone = 7d6 (7d6.hits(5)=1)

Visual for the Drone - Visual - Intuition 5 + Perception 5 + Attention Coproccessor 3 + Vision Enhancement 3 - 6 for drone = 10d6 (10d6.hits(5)=2)

UWB Radar for the link - Visual - Intuition 5 + Perception 5 + Attention Coproccessor 3 = 13d6 (13d6.hits(5)=2)

Visual for the link -Visual - Intuition 5 + Perception 5 + Attention Coproccessor 3 + Vision Enhancement 3 = 16d6 (16d6.hits(5)=6)

Well it looks like he spotted both visually. Don't worry Sleep I am not doing this to screw you over.
LurkerOutThere
For future refrence extended searches will loose a die each turn unless otherwise noted. This is especially pertinent in the case of hacks but applies to both sides.

Just for the record the bodyguard has attention coprocessors and good perception for just this sort of thing. Roundup also noticed you planting the link but not the drone. If you'd just set the drone to record and did it that way you might have been better off as I'd just told you the room was being actively scanned.
SleepIncarnate
I'd left the commlink in case the room was closed and the jamming resumed, since I didn't buy any extra features for the drone and didn't think it could store much recorded memory in itself.
LurkerOutThere
Hokay so dice time.
Jeb got 1 hit on his charisma plus con (or negotiation, he's a skill group monkey) http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2442125/

Now Doctor's roll, i'm gonna go out on a limb and guess on an edge expendature as he very literally has enough justification to throw her in a cell and throw away the key, which as much as I wouldn't want it would more or less mean new character time. She's going to be at a cumulative -3 between the prejudice her words and deeds have done to him and also the fact that her desired outcome is pretty annoying to him (actually it edges closer to harmful but i'm being generous).
7d6.hitsopen(5,6) → [5,1,4,[6, 5],[6, 1],1,[6, 3]] = (5) http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2442131/

Or someone who can hack your mind, or an elf who can hack your mind...... we're all screwed.

As for Karoline, I'm not sure if it's you having scared her off or not, she's not been posting to any of the other threads I've been watching with her in them either, like Blood in the Water.
Darquewing
(Sorry for the delay. Had to do home-stuff a lot after playing on Saturday.)

While shaking hands, still in the auditorium, I'll see if I notice the drone deployment. Again, not to be mean, just for a good thought and a smile =)

Visual for Drone: Int 4 + Perception(Visual Spec) 4 + Attention Coprocessor R3 - 6 for drone: 5d6.hits(5)=2

Visual for Link: Int 4 + Perception(Visual Spec) 4 + Attnetion Coprocessor R3: 11d6.hits(5)=4

Saw that biggrin.gif

Okay, as soon as I am in my room, I start running data searches, names and facial photos.

Logic 5[8] + Data Search 4 + Encephalon I: 13d6.hits(5)=5 first turn

12d6.hits(5)=4 second turn, 9 total

11d6.hits(5)=2 Glitch! -1d6 hits

1d6=1 8 total

10d6.hits(5)=2 third turn, 10 total

9d6.hits(5)=1 fourth turn, 11 total

8d6.hits(5)=4 fifth turn 15 total

Takes a bit, but I got it... whew!
LurkerOutThere
Well I kind of wanted to give everyone a chance to do their initial post pretty quick here. I'm still hoping to hear form Karoline and Brain. THe plan is to do basically about a weeks time jump interspersed with scenes at the range and elsewhere as well as the quest for a squad leader. I'm sitll hoping to hear from folks before we do that as it's hard to do RP scenes without everyone being present and I'd hate to exclude anyone.
bmcoomes
I'll get an other post done up soon been trying to get some stuff around the house catch up.

And in case you're wondering, here's the songs that I picture playing for the race, in the order they'll be playing.

And think of Tron minus the glowing trails when you picture what she changed it to.
