You can hack someone's commlink to get inside it and take a look at it's programs and do whatever else you feel would be fun. Technomancers have a firewall, system, etc. My guestion is, is a technomancers organic commlink a node in the same manner that a normal commlink is a node? Can you sneak into a technomancers brain to get a look at it's complex forms and access devices it's currently using?
I guess the whole issue confuses me a little.

You can hack him like any other node... but there's nothing there.
No files, no programs, just connections to other nodes.

That's pretty close to what I was expecting. Thanks.

Well ... the one thing I might say is there would be a sprite, but that might depend on the situation.

I handle it this way; When attempting to log into a technomancer after exploiting the Firewall... you get a jackload of error messages and the connection shuts down. A technomancer almost doesn't exist as far as commlinks are concerned. Basically its all one way.

However, every technomancer has to have some sort of storage device, because they can't store data in their wetware. So go hack that for his paydata.

Can you route through a technomancer's brain to his data store?

insufficient data to give a firm answer that can't be argued against, but i personally would say yes. obviously xenith would say no. i'm not sure that it's such a good idea to make TMs unhackable, personally, since it's technically possible for a team to route all communications through the TM, as i understand it...

Yep, you should be able to.
According to the RAW a TM's brain is simply a commlink with no long term storage.
That is typically where I compile my sprites. If they manage to KO me when I compile, I go KO, and the node crashes.

Yeah. on page 233, it describes a Technomaner's Living Persona like this:
QUOTE |
Technomancers have their own version of the persona, known as the living persona—essentially it is an organic commlink with sim module in the technomancer’s head. |
It then later talks about how if the person is knocked out, it automatically crashes their persona; so it seems to be referring to it just like any other commlink node. I'd say, based on that, there's no particular reason why you can't hack into it.
What you find there, though, probably won't help you much. He has no storage, which implies his Complex Forms aren't stored there, but are rather hard-wired into his brain. You could argue that you can access his brain like a physical device attached to his commlink, but I'm not sure how comfortable I am with that interpretation.

Would there be different implications if a technomancer hacked into another technomancer's commlink/brain than if a hacker did it? From a RAW perspective, most likely not, but it does seem like those two interactions /could/ reasonably be a little different.

not particularly different mechanically, i'd say. it's not that the TM's node doesn't make sense to a hacker (though it probably doesn't, at least in terms of how it works) it's that there isn't really much to do.
