Full Version: Image/Display Link Question

One of my players asked about those SWAT flexible cameras they use to peer under doors. His idea was to plug it into his datajack, connect the feed to his image link, coil the camera so it faces backwards and he's got a rear camera watching his butt.

Now This should be possible (of course there is no flexible camera anywhere stat wise, and if anyone has created one, what stats did you use?) but would there be any penalty associated with having an image link active while doing complex actions? If so, where is it written (or house ruled...I'm looking for various points of view). If not, why not?

I remember the multiple pairs of eyes thread - would there be penalties for trying to see out of multiple eyes at the same time? (assume DNI linked so that it's possible to access all at the same time)

I don't have the book with me but man and machine has rules for single cyber eyes in odd locales (back of head, or anywhere else you can think of) as a GM, I'd give +4 to perception tests for the little window (if imagelinked camera) but I'd give the (I think the book said +cool.gif if it was a cyber eye, my theory is that you can look at or ignore something in your field of view, but a full eye becomes part of your FOV, and would probaboly cause your brain some confusion. this could be avoided by overlapping the FOV of a ring of cybereyes all around your head, but the social modifer......... For my characters I just said "In a combat posture, checking six." that left no doubt in my GM's mind that my character was no going to get snuck up on easly.

You would need to come up with a cost for eth snake camera (5*cost of mini vidio camera in book).

I would allow the trick but impose the same penalties as implanting a extra cyber eye in the back of your head, see man and machine for dentales.
