Full Version: 80s spy equipment was awesome

So, I've been watching Knight Rider on YouTube. I think I found the meaning of life when I watched a character use a gigantic camera with what appeared to be an IR projector and an IR scope the size of personal pan pizzas mounted on it to try and photograph Mexican gun smugglers at night. Light amplification is for 90s metrosexuals...back in the 80s you used a World War II style infra red light projector and you liked it.

I really think they should re-make Covert Action now, but have it still be set in the 80s. There'd be no internet, and you'd have to choose from 80s spy equipment and weapons. They could implement encumberance rules so that your camera or mobile phone could weigh like 10 pounds apiece. It would be like No One Lives Forever but more hyper-masculine and awesome.

Can I just say that you make the best threads ever? biggrin.gif

Actually your camera would still be quite small and light, you'd just have a limited number of shots... Just like in the original game.

You could take the Zack Morris Quality to overcome it.

Did anyone here play Millenium's End? It was out-of-print before I got back into gaming but from the art alone it looks like something that should be brought back. I mean: "It's 1999... the future! And everyone drives a Ferrari Testarossa, carries an SMG and wears pastel! Oh, and you work for Blackwater!" is a winning pitch in my book. Who owns the license to this?

I haven't played Millenium's End, but I have some friends who have.
They told me it's kinda like 80's Shadowrun set in today's world and with stats for a whole lot of guns.
