Is it possible to enable the posting of off-site hosted pictures in certain sub-forums? Welcome to the Shadows, in particular, would benefit a great deal from that. Posting tactical maps, character and NPC portraits, etc. Maybe restrict it to people with a particularly high post count or something, if you really feel it'll be abused?

You can already post pictures (as with any other link), they just aren't displayed inline—is the immediacy a significant change in this circumstance?

I'm well aware that links can be posted. It would just be nice to have them in-line for the online games at the very least. I'm also not entirely sure what the big deal is, either. Other than people creating annoying signatures (which I'm sure is easy enough to limit since the signature editor has its own rules) and avatars, I've never seen in-line pictures on a forum as being abused all that much anyway. And when it is, it's by the same people who would have posted inappropriate material anyway, so action would need to be taken either way.

It's a fair guess that they wish to avoid even the potential issue that could arise from inappropriate images showing up in DS itself, given that some SR players are of the younger variety.

Actually, i think we don't have that many below 21, and even less below 18 . .
Wasn't there a thread some time back with a poll about age?
i think the result was somethng like 27 years for average age . .

Since no one official-like has popped in to give an official answer, I'll give my totally unofficial opinion (for what its worth)...
I would love to see this feature allowed in the Welcome to the Shadows sub-forum, specifically because it would make PbP games a lot easier and because only people involved in games really wander over there much. Yeah there are lurkers, but I don't think the general membership would be all that affected. Of course the ToS would still apply.
However, I think enabling this feature on the main forum would be asking for trouble. I'm not sure why (because as has been stated it would be no more difficult to police than peoples' posts) but I just get the feeling it would go badly. Plus, its just one more thing the mods would be accused of "censoring" if we have to delete inappropriate images.
At any rate, I don't know if its even possible to enable images in one sub-forum and not another (I'm only a low-level initiate on the Path of Moderation).

I couldn't agree more on both accounts.

Really? Odd. I remember tinkering with some a few years back, and I distinctly recall being able to adjust those types of allowances on a per subforum basis. But I guess it depends on the software, eh?

Of which I know nothing. Redjack and Caine Hazen handle most of the technical junk I think.

He actually had a (semi)relevant post in another thread, so hopefully not...
