So, one of my characters is considering modding an assault rifle (probably the AK97) in a manner similar to the Infiltrator from Fallout 3 (For those who don't know, it's an assault rifle with a scope and silencer, but no stock). Now, to me, scope+silencer+stock removal doesn't make much sense....but scope accessory+folding stock+suppressor accessory does. Now, I'm wondering:
How would stock replacement work with the modification rules?
How can I maximize concealability? (Chameleon Coating+Ceramic Components?)
How could this concept go wrong? For some reason, the GM in me can't find a suitable countermeasure unless something goes wrong to begin with (ie his cyberware sets off an MAD and he gets patted down)
That depends on whether its a stock Accessory or stock Modification. If its an accessory, you can just take it off. If its a modification, you can remove it, but you don't get any slots back - however, i *would* allow it to be modified from a stock to a folding stock by paying the difference in slots, nuyen, and threshold.
Chameleon coating can do concealability, and fits in with your stealthsuit. a Sling modification can do concealability as well, as can Barrel reduction. Easy Breakdown can be used to make the rifle not look like a rifle at all when sneaking it through scanners. Ceramic/Plasteel components can help get it through MAD scanners.
Getting a scope is as easy as attaching an Imaging Scope accessory from the main book.
Silencers are as easy as slapping an accessory on it. A modification silencer works better, but is modslot intensive.
I would probably try to use an SMG for this instead, just due to the lower concealability to start with.
