You're just going to drive into glow city ?!? Alone!? eek.gif

ROM, can... can I have Oswald freak out about this and offer to cover them from the air?
Or are we dispatching with the gang checkpoints, blocked off streets and ambush zones?
I guess they could each bribe their way in from the south.. if the roads are usable. indifferent.gif

@ saint: I don't think I responded to this, but sure, go for it smile.gif The only trick is the timing, since their already on their way in at 9:25

Phhhhhttt!

Professor'll drive, and Heka and Thirty will blow away anything that stands in our way. Piece of cake!

@all: what are you wearing right now? ..I mean for Armor purposes wink.gif

At home, Jovan just wears his Synergist slacks and shirt for a total of 2/1. When going out, he generally puts on his mask (which doesn't do anything armor-wise) and his lined coat for a total of 8/5. So then he's encumbered. Damn, I need to replace that thing with a Synergist longcoat.
pbangarth
OK, now I'm scared! (See post #1) Professor is the most heavily armoured team member. eek.gif
Sephiroth
Assensing Oswald - INT 6 + Assensing 2 + Actively looking 3 = 11d6 = 4 hits
HugeC
For armor, Thirty just has an armored jacket, 8/6.
Saint Sithney
FFBA shirt [3/0], Steampunk Overcoat [3/3] Forearm guards [0/1] and Cyberarmor [2/2] on the arm, so mine should be [8/6] total.

As to freaking out and shadowing them in, I don't really think that's an option unless I've already hooked up with Ferret and got him watching our guy. No use ditching out now, but... I could get an air strike in route. wobble.gif

From what I've seen so far, I think Red-ROM rewards creativity and intelligent play. That kind of play actually makes the GM's job of telling a good story way easier.

Oh man, with that A Christmas Carrol reference, I do believe that Oswald litera(ri)lly (oh man, more literature jokes!) had the Dickens scared out of him!

Not sure if it's necessary and Ferret might just be being paranoid but here's the additional Redirect trace roll: 7d6.hits(5)=1 Ouch!

Ferret will kick off a number of data searches looking for the following information:

1. Cross-referencing recent accident reports against data on Beetle's missing chummer (who was it BTW?)
7d6.hits(5)=1, 7d6.hits(5)=5, 7d6.hits(5)=2, 7d6.hits(5)=2, 7d6.hits(5)=3, 7d6.hits(5)=2, 7d6.hits(5)=3, 7d6.hits(5)=2, 7d6.hits(5)=4, 7d6.hits(5)=4

2. Big Daddy Long Legs
7d6.hits(5)=2, 7d6.hits(5)=3, 7d6.hits(5)=3, 7d6.hits(5)=1, 7d6.hits(5)=3, 7d6.hits(5)=0, 7d6.hits(5)=2, 7d6.hits(5)=1, 7d6.hits(5)=3, 7d6.hits(5)=1

3. Storage facilities / garages in Redmond that could hold several trucks (plus any places Ferret can think of where he might have parked in the past)
7d6.hits(5)=2, 7d6.hits(5)=5, 7d6.hits(5)=1, 7d6.hits(5)=5, 7d6.hits(5)=3, 7d6.hits(5)=2, 7d6.hits(5)=3, 7d6.hits(5)=1, 7d6.hits(5)=3, 7d6.hits(5)=2

Technically, you have to be aware of someone Tracing you to be able to redirect their Trace attempt. Also, if two people are both Tracing you, you've to to take actions to redirect each of them. It's.. really dumb, these rules.

Not that you need to worry about it.

Good to know. So I would actually need to do an Analyze action first to see if I was being traced, then do the Redirect trace. Actually thinking about it, what I guess he would really want to do would be an Edit / Corrupt action to try to remove any indications that he was ever there. Woo, decking is fun! wobble.gif

Okay, hopefully that should show up in local newsfeeds, maybe even with a picture of Otto so Ferret can confirm to Beetle that his chummer did die in a 'freak accident'.

Let me know if you want a load of rolls for the data search on Oswald's '405 up north' comment.

Ferret will also check out the parking lot to see if he can spot a vehicle that might belong to the holed-up rigger as well as tapping into his data stream.

Spot suspicious vehicle:
Intuition (4) + Perception (4) + Actively looking (3) - AIPS (1) = 10d6.hits(5)=2 - damn matrix noise.

Tap into dodgy datastream (need 3 hits):
Electronic warfare (4) + Sniffer (3) = 7d6.hits(5)=1 Aargh, treacherous dice!
Try again next round: 7d6.hits(5)=4 - much better. I'll keep this tap open in an AR window (to avoid hot-sim BTL porn) so Ferret is currently running Analyze (matrix perception), Browse (data searches), Sniffer (data tap) and Stealth (always).
Saint Sithney
The 405 Hellhounds are probably the 2nd biggest go-gang in Seattle after the Ancients, and they're dumber and meaner by far. They make news. Anyone outside of an enclave should know who they are.
Up further north are the Red Rovers, or rather were. They didn't even make 3rd tier gang status in the latest Seattle book. There is an implication nested in there as well, since no one now claims the interstate near Everett where Oswald lives.. Everything north of the 405 is clear and safe.

Ferret has Seattle Gang knowledge at 4 so should have twigged that directly. However, my personal knowledge of Seattle in 2071 is a little more rusty. I need to remember to post stuff like that OOC first, then IC. But then, sometimes even dwarf hackers can get confused. Especially the ones with messed up heads. Hoever, when Ferret does make the connection and realise the implications of the statement, he will only be even more scared of Oswald.

Otto is not Beetle's friend!!! His friend is from the team that Big Daddy Long legs is on!! No one has given you Otto's name in character!!(as far as I know). I know the info is all over the place, and we're all going to misread things, just letting you know

Edit: you haven't been traced, even at a short interval(10minutes) on these search tests it would take some time. Info on BDLL would take you 90 minutes with the rolls you have, so I'm going to hand wave a little, you can keep looking later, On the perception, I'd give you a -2 for running all these searches and changing clothes and such. but the result is the same.

@ Pban & Huge: Roll reaction (or dodge) & a piloting check

1 short burst each (wide -2)professor-[6,5,3,5,5,1] = (4) Thirty- [5,3,1,4,5,1] = (2) Dont forget the car armor for soaking, i didn't check the car, the bullets will probably bounce off

It's all right. The last thing I was doing was staring at Oswald's aura to learn as much info about the man as possible, because nosferatus are paranoid almost by default and because Jovan plans on using Oswald as the main go-between for himself and the rest of the team, since at this point Oswald is the only person whom Jovan knows can't see him in the astral. I guess I can also go assense the soon-to-be Jake Jameson, but if there isn't any magical activity around I'm stumped as to what to do after that. Hmmm...

Professor REA 6 + Dodge 3 = 9 dice ==> 3 HITS Oh shit, I forgot the wide burst -2, so I lose the last two dice, gives only 2 HITS

Professor soak BOD 4 + armor 8 + car armor 6 = 18 dice ==> 5 HITS

I suspect this leaves Professor with some stun damage.

EDIT: Piloting roll: REA 6 + pilot 1 = 7 dice ==> 1 HIT Hmmph.
Saint Sithney
Might need the Reaction roll on the driver first. The shot might have missed the car entirely if Professor rolls well. smile.gif

@ HugeC: you're currently rolling past, but you guys can do what you want

@ Pban: 4P + 1 net hit = 5P , you just soaked it, and with no damage, I think one hit on the drive test should keep you on the road

@ Seph: you could still be on scene astrally, and use spirits to help. Is your Astral form allergic to sunlight?

@ Notso: Beetle didn't give you anything to go on, you don't even know if his story is true. Did you hack into the target's comm or are we just sniffing his signal? I lost track, I think we just sniffed and decryted the signal, but I wanted to be clear.

2 other things forgotten so far,
one, the -2 I forgot maybe countered by the -2 for Professor trying to dodge in the car.

secondly, and arguably more important, the Professor used his only initiative pass to dodge, and he was driving.
HugeC
OK, so Thirty has 3 IPs. I have no idea the penalties to assess for range and whatnot, so I'll just roll my dice and let you lop off stuff that shouldn't count. Thirty has STR 7, which I think is a point of recoil compensation, which should negate the penalty for that on the second shot of each IP. His dice pool for shooting is Agility 4 + Pistols 4 + Smartlink 2 = 10.

IP 1: Shoot ganger A twice with the Predator. Shot 1==>4 hits, Shot 2==>3 hits

IP 2: Shoot ganger B twice with the Predator. Shot 1==>3 hits, Shot 2==>3 hits

IP 3: Attempt to prevent the vehicle from crashing. Reaction 6, -1 for no skill, so 5 dice. 1 hit. And it's the last die, so if there's any kind of penalty, I'll probably need to spend my Edge so we don't crash.

Edit: Forgot I need to quick-draw my gun before the first shot. Reaction 6 + Pistols 4, so 10 dice, 3 hits, and with my adept power I only needed 2.

OK. I'm not all that conversant with the vehicle rules, so I thought I was doing the last part of this (p. 169 of SR4A):
QUOTE
Make Vehicle Test: A driver spends a Complex Action when
executing a maneuver that requires a Vehicle Test. (It doesn’t cost an
action if the driver is making a Vehicle Test to avoid a crash.)

Do you want me to do another test to see if Professor regains control, including grabbing the wheel back from Thirty? grinbig.gif

Aw hell, here it is if you need it:

7 dice (Man, get the AR up, already!) ==> 1 HIT (Again?!)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that it should be -2 for dodging in the car -2 for the wide burst and +4 for good cover.

So I guess the first roll was right. wobble.gif

I was confused as to whether you could use a vehicle dodge to avoid being hit. ( I haven't been sleeping much lately.) It's kind of weird that, with full auto only I guess, the car can avoid a hit but the passengers can still get clipped. In this case, since only the passengers were the target, the car doesn't even matter. Same sort of wacky.

I just rolled to tap his signal, but that allows me to keep listening in as long as I keep Sniffer running (which I did). Oswald had already broken his encryption, so I assumed I had the keys and didn't need to decrypt the signal again myself. I do have a decrypt program if necessary.

I agree, so have at it Jovan

Also, I'm by no means the most familiar with the rules here, so bear with me. Pban is right, he didn't have to spend an action to avoid crashing. he does have to spend an action driving the car though, so he either gave up his action this turn to dodge, or used his next initiative as an interupt to dodge, forfeiting the "drive the car" action at some point. Does that make sense??

@ HugeC: the gangers are about 8 meters away, medium range -1, attacker in moving vehicle -3, shot 1 = 2hits

ganger dodges:[1,5,3,1] = (1) glitch! takes 6P -1AP [6,5,3,6] = (3) 3P total

2nd shot= 1hit ganger with a -2(wounds and second defense): [6,6] = (2) ,oops no dodge -1, 1 hit, he dodges, but he falls prone and his gun is tossed into the street.

second ganger: 1st shot= 2 hits, reaction=[3,1] = (0) critical glitch! 7P resisted:[6,4,3,3] = (1) I'll give it -1 for the glitch, so 7P he's knocked down too.

2nd shot: 3 hits... he's at -6(wounds and second defense and prone) no chance to dodge, 8P resist(armor at -1): [6,4,3] = (1) , 7P puts him at -3, he's worm food

between you and Pban, I'll say you maintain control of the car

more rules to get straight: the Tower has an accel rate of 10/30 up to 120 m/ 3 seconds (89 mph!?)

it's over-armored, so it's a touch slower than that, but it can still cook... for a blimp. I'm hoping that the shitty roads would keep the ganger on the bike from getting away if I had to chase him. Plus, I can make a vehicle test to go faster at 5m/hit biggrin.gif

Couple of questions:

1. I am assuming the ganger coming out is human and not a troll, so not BDLL.

2. Does he have an active or passive PAN? If so, does it match any of the ones Oswald detected when he arrived onsite (i.e. he is one of the other 'guests' at the motel and not our target). I don't have scan loaded so I doubt I have time to scan for hidden PANs before he is gone.

3. How far away am I from the motel entrance / dog / americar. How far from the entrance is the americar? I got the impression the armored suzuki and the dog were up close to the entrance? I did not park close to the entrance, so am figuring the van is around 20-30 m away from the entrance (i.e. long range for my machine pistol).
