Full Version: Louisville Cast of Shadows
Dumpshock Forums > Discussion > GM/Players Registry
Swing Kid
We are looking for some Shadowrunners in the Louisville Area to get involved with a local gaming experiment. We are building a network of local players for 3rd Edition gaming in a single, large campaign setting where independent contractors and teams can run in the shadows of 3-4 game masters. What makes this concept unique is that we will be using a network looplist (a Yahoo Group) to carry on conversations both in and out of character, to set up runs in a manner that more closely reflects the activities of shadowrunning in a realistic manner.

To better explain, here is a scenario.
Lets say we have about twenty participants, and say 4 of them are GM's.

One of the GM's posts on the loop that he is setting up a R&D heist run, and identifies a number of Fixers in the area that start hearing about this lead (everyone's contacts are kept track of by the team of GM's).

One of the players notices that his Fixer is one of those who have info on the run, so he emails the GM with his interest. The two use either email or their cells to set up a meeting with the Johnson (whether in character or just in background context). We will say that the GM agrees to call the player at 7pm that Sunday to roleplay out the meet. If the player wants another player or two at the meet then obviously the meet will have to be roleplayed out either in person, or through the use of a chat screen or something.

For this case, we will say the player just calls the GM in person. They play out the meet, during which the player finds out that he is being offered 25K to get a prototype, copies of the research data, and is told to avoid making things bloody (maybe he knows the employees, is afraid of a federal investigation, who knows).

After the call, the player posts on the loop that he is looking for a decker to do some intel work. One of the other players contacts him about the details, and a 2000¥ fee is agreed upon. The player gives the decker player the GM info.

Now, the decker player and the GM get in contact with each other and make arangements for a one-on-one game just to knock out the matrix gig (the face player wants security info, employee rosters, a map, etc). The two of them (or more if the decker wants backup) set up a game night (maybe just over the phone) to play out the decking run. The GM gives the decker some Karma for gaming, and the decker makes good on his side of the bargain with the face player.

Now, the Face player looks over the intel, makes a plan, and decides he needs a couple responisible hitters (professional enough not to tear up the place just to get a prototype), and a mage or shaman to deal with the guard spirits the decker found out about. He posts on our loop what he is looking for, and when he and the GM are looking to play.

Three players end up making agreements to hook up and play the game (likely following the plan that the Face character came up with before even hiring them) next Saturday night at the GM's house. The Face makes agreements to pay each of them 5K¥ for their roles, which means he will end up with 8K¥ in his pocket if all pans out well.

Teams can be played out in the same manner. It might even be fun to play a professional Fixer just to organize the runs.

No commitments. No getting stuck with player character types that don't make sense for a run.

Now, I would be willing to take on some players outside the Louisville area for some stuff, like decking, etc, but otherwise, we need locals so we can actually meet and play. We currently have about 8 players involved to one degree or another. Respond with questions, or just email me directly at shadowrunner@insightbb.com

Wow, if you need a decker to do some runs over the Matrix, I can help.
