Wow, if that doesn't take us back... Hadn't posted here in years!
Black Book Editions, the company behind the French version of Shadowrun for over 20 years, is launching the new edition of Shadowrun Anarchy this summer on Kickstarter in partnership with CGL. English and French-language versions will launch simultaneously. The book and GM screen will be entirely illustrated by Benjamin Giletti.

Now, that's a name I haven't heard in a long time...I mean, people who played it seemed to like it, but it had like three books and that was it.
Was it particularly successful in France, or why did BBE pick it up?

More info in the link above, but yes, the French Anarchy v1 was (is) widely successful on the French speaking market (it's more of a v1.5) where it sells nearly on par with v6. More importantly, it attracted a lot of first time Shadowrun players looking for a simplified ruleset.
All v6 sourcebooks published in French also came with a free PDF conversion to Anarchy, so it's possible to follow v6 plot evolutions while using the Anarchy ruleset.
Chicago Chaos and Anarchy 2050 didn't come out in French but a French-only companion book to Anarchy, "Anarchistes", was published last year and was widely successful.

I've not picked up the French Anarchy book, but I'm a big fan of Black Book Editions work, they've put out some really good SR material the last few years. And on the CGL discord channel there were a couple of people who have played it who considered it 'just about perfect' hoping for like one fix. Very limited number of data points, but promising enough that I intend to get it.
I have read about the French version, and it sounds like they went more for a rules light traditional table top RPG (apparently the preference in France), rather than the troop style play that threw so many people for a loop with the original English Anarchy rules. I'm interested to see if the new version would support play-by-post well.

I've been pumped to hear this is nearly out for a few days now. For those wondering, I purchased the French PDFs and ran them through Google Translate—so I can confirm, it's more a 1.5 than 1.0. It has all the "missing" rules people complained about in the English edition, with Anarchistes filling the niche of a runners companion (adding initiation, submersion, shapeshifters, metavariants, etc) as well as expanding on the lore and systems to bring everything up to date with the mid-2080s setting. The fact BBE has developed this book and CGL is only publishing the English translation gives me a lot of hope this will be really good.

Thanks, interesting to hear how the French apparently kept Anarchy alive.
