The next Mission in season 4 is now out–SRM 04-05: On a Silver Platter is on sale wherever we sell electronic goods–primarily the Battleshop and DrivethruRPG.

Here’s the rundown:

Best served cold

A year ago your fixer’s daughter was killed by the Mayan Cutter copycat. He always suspected that someone else was pulling the strings, someone highly placed. Now he believes he has proof, but that someone isn’t going down without a fight. The stakes are higher than ever and someone’s trying to stop you before you even start! Are you ready to serve up a side of revenge?

SRM 04-05: On a Silver Platter continues the latest series of Shadowrun Missions, building on the plotline that focuses on the struggle between the Ork Underground and the city of Seattle as the metahuman rights groups continue to push for recognition. A fathers personal grief becomes enmeshed in this struggle and he looks to the runners to settle a vendetta. How far will they go? Players have a chance to affect ongoing plotlines and shape the future of Seattle in the Sixth World by playing Missions.

Now, as it turns out, this Mission is a sequel to a convention mission from 2010 called Copycat Killer. While On a Silver Platter can be played just fine by itself, it will have even more resonance for players who have run Copycat Killer. The trouble is, Copycat Killer was only played by a small group of players, and was not available to the general public.

Until now. For this Mission, we’ve included Copycat Killer with the Mission at no extra charge. Get two runs for the price of one! Need a little more info on Copycat Killer? Here you go:

A little girl lost…

For three years the Mayan Cutter terrorized the metahumans of Seattle and many point to their inability to stop him as the reason Lone Star lost it’s Seattle contract. Shortly after Knight Errant took over, the killings stopped and the Tin Men took credit for bringing him down. But now the killings have started again. Is it a copycat or is it the real deal? You’ll have the chance to find out when a grief-stricken Mr. Johnson calls you to track him down so he can get revenge.

CMP 2010-02: Copycat Killer was originally released as part of the 2010 Convention Missions series and was only available at gaming conventions. This adventure also serves as a prequel to SRM 04-05: On a Silver Platter.

To reiterate: two for one! Enjoy!

As a note, the CMP adventure is fairly basic in design. It's B&W and currently has no interior art. We have someone working on finishing the clean-up work needed on the CMP adventures and will be releasing them at some point hopefully soon as a reasonably priced bundle pack. But for now, enjoy CMP 2010-02: Copycat Killer as a free bonus! We didn't want to release the sequel without making the prequel available smile.gif

That sounds awesome. I think I'll be looking into that one. On that note, is it possible at all to acquire copies of the convention missions in general? Convention missions (and adventures, from various other games) almost seem more memorable to me than standard premade adventures, and I don't know why.

The 2010 CMP adventures are "in process".

They were largely written in a very tight time frame right after I had taken over as Missions Developer, to get them ready for the 2010 Conventions. I had a lot of my plate at the time, I was still learning the ropes, and most importantly, the writers didn't have a lot of time to work on them. They did a fantastic job, and there are some very cool adventures in that series. But while teh adventures are playable, there was still some development and editing work that needed to be done on them. Unfortunately, right after the convention season, we made a big push to get the rest of season 3 finished and out the door, were in the middle of planning and getting Season 4 ready to go, AND started planning the 2011 CMPs. So the 2010 ones got put on the back-burner, and I never really had the time to go back and finish them up for release. I've been working on it off and on (mostly off), but... Time is not something I have a ton of.

So, last month we brought in someone to help out. His name is Rob, and he's currently going through the 2010 adventures to clean them up and match them to the standards and overall guidelines we set for ourselves with Season 4. Once that's done, we're going to find some art for them (It will likely be recycled SR TCG and older SR1-3 B&W interior art), and then release them as a cheap PDF bundle (There are 8 2010 CMPs total).

The PDF of 2010-02: Copycat Killer that comes with this SRM is close to the final product you'll see with the 2010 CMP bundle, but it doesn't currently have any art in it, so the layout will be redone some.

Bull, I was getting ready to run through CMP 2010-02, and I really can't read the tell what any of the text is on the Map on page 18. I can read the bigger stuff like Show Room and Garage, but I have no clue what the smaller text is. Do you have access to a higher res map?

Unfortunately, no. however, it's the same location as the map at the end of 04-05. You can use that map, and just ignore the defenses mentioned in 04-05.

Smashin. Finally we get some CMP.

Playing the module right now. Awesome. Who wrote this? Haven't had that much fun in a shadowrun game in a while. Very classic sneaky part, a nasty twist just as you think you got the big bad by the balls and no matter what you will do it can and will get shooty. We have yet to get to the shooty part, but so far, it had a nice, old-school feel to it, had characters arguing morals, had everything a shadowrun module needs. The entry was a classic when I started playing, and one I haven't seen since the crazy !E adventures where everything always was at the edge of spontaneous explosion. Har.

Also, on a more general note, both me as primary GM and the group are very fond of the Underground storyline, which we've been playing almost back to back up to now. I'll take out some steam by playing the Artifacts missions and maybe the German-released DotA series. Hope I won't get to run them all because we're rather eager for the nextz underground adventure.

Also, where's the Underground sourcefile? It's been announced since forever!

Keep up the good work.
