Might want to be a bit more specific about where you are. Since you're in Oakland, I'm assuming you mean the East San Francisco Bay area. But ... Boston and it's neighboring towns are also "the Bay area", and I'm sure other communities call themselves that, too. Probably every one of them that's near a bay, in fact.
