While the scanners aren't obvious in an elegant hotel like this, their use is as you notice a pair of well dressed Orks step up and address a guest that just arrived. They politely take him to the side momentarily and you notice him handing over a gentleman's piece pistol from beneath his coat. Then his lady friend is also address and she sighs as reaches beneath a fold of her shimmering dress and pull out a tiny pistol as well.
WHoo! My ceramic pistol might actually be worth something! Take that, MAD Scanners!

Secondly: TW votes not to kill the tail. Too much chance of ending up in a prison cell. Tacoma, Renton? Maybe. Barrens? Shoot them and give the corpses to the ghouls. Not Downtown. Just keep an eye on them.
Thirdly: What defines a "regular" weapon? Can I get away with the Smartgun? I remember from previous editions that it's a ridiculously concealable SMG, but 4th is kind of mum on that. I'm still going to want to grab the extra magazine for the Predator if I can't take the Smartgun.

I agree... I really like the idea of the Fake Group going to the park and acting super spy - everyone sits at a bench on the other side of a bum, opens up a newspaper, whispers conspicuously... meanwhile, Mr White sneaks off to do the actual meet.

While the idea of a fake meet is a good one, I have to once again state that it is a bad idea to split the group up. If shit goes down at either location, we're screwed. Hard. Not to mention that Needle is going to want to be somewhere near the real one keeping a digital eye on things. And another digital eye on Acson.

Okay, so I'll go the real meet with White, and keeping Ascon with us. 3 Infiltrate doesn't give me a lot of confidence in losing a tail, and we need some muscle there in case it goes ba-well, worse. I'll take the SMG on it's sling, Predator in it's holster, and keep the Viper concealed (for all the good it'll probably do).

I'm more going by fighting power of the weapon, rather than concealability. The security personnel are going to know what you guys are carrying. They just are going to allow you to pass given that they know you are meeting one of their favored clients. Assault rifles are not a typical for downtown business meetings.

You and me are in the van in the carpark opposite the hotel, Range should be fine,
I'm hoping there is a nice quiet park area with lots of light and shade, and people ... opposite or nearby where
Gardner can be.
it covers the bases, and is, in my opinion better than all of us being on the 28th floor and having to fight our way out.
not so much splitting the party, as getting tactical space between us while still operating in the same theatre of war.

Well, I could slow down, while White and Wolf, along with Acson speed up slightly. That would cause the tail to be forced to either walk directly past Gardner or else lose sight of the others. At the first opportunity, the others cut through a store or some other sight breaker to help break the tail more.
Then Gardner goes to a food court or something and starts to eat that food that he got. The tail goes "well crap" and bang, done

Edit: And no, not an actual bang...

I'm not concerned about range so much as I am about line of sight. Per RAW, in order to detect a hidden node I have to either:
1. Know approximately where the node is; OR
2. Take a wild guess and waste time.
I prefer option 1. Especially when we are talking about being in a hotel parking garage for a hotel to meet someone that has their own armed force in the lobby of said hotel. I would prefer to be in the room, and the only option to do that is...
Which one of you guys wants to let me log onto your commlink's main node so I can maintain a digital presence in the room? The troll here can watch my meat body while I'm in VR scanning the scene, and I could then alert you guys to any threats that might come up. I know Slacker mentioned this already at one point, but nobody responded to it so I'm bringing it up again.

Doesn't matter how horrible it is. I'll be logging on through my own, so I'll be using my own stats. Not sure if I need admin access or not; probably not. So long as I'm logged on and can stay in VR we're good.

Ok. The current plan seems to be:
Everybody from the restaurant is heading up Pike Avenue towards the hotel with three people tailing them and Eclipse tailing those guys in turn.
At some point along the way, Gardner will slow down to see if the tails slow down or pass him.
Meanwhile the rest of the group from the restaurant makes an attempt to lose the tail as they go around a corner.
Back at the van that is making it's way to the hotel (due to speed limits, traffic, and the circuitous route they had to take, the van wouldn't be arriving at the garage until a couple minutes before the walks get there), Needle is setting it up so that she can be logged into TundraWolf's commlink when
he goes up with the others to the meet with Laurent.
From a GM's perspective, this sounds like a reasonable plan. Is this what you guys are moving forward with?
