So, I know the new edition is coming this year. What I don't know is what the plans will be for GenCon and missions. From what I've heard, the next mission season will be in a different place as well. Can I get whatever information can be given here to know what I should be planning for? Event registration for GenCon is in two weeks and I want to know what I should be focusing on for that amount of time. Maybe someone like Bull, a man that is infinitely helpful, can give me some info to help me prep. biggrin.gif

Bunch of info in this thread.

In short, Season 5 is premiering at Gen Con and Origins, will be 5th edition, and is set in Chicago. New characters all round.

Oh. Thank you. biggrin.gif That helps a lot.

Don't forget, even if you get locked out of registering for games at Origins or Gencon swing down with generics we can always make room for more.

I don't know...I would like to believe that, but since I have a runner team of 5 people, there's really no way you're getting all of us on the same table. And since the tickets for all the special are COMPLETELY sold out, I don't have any chance of getting in now.

I think this is very frustrating. Is it that there are just not enough DMs for the weekend? If I would have known that, I would have volunteered.

Just make sure you and your buddies have a few generic tickets ready to go, and the odds are decent that you might still be able to sling some dice. It's not unusual for them to have a few pinch-hitter GMs waiting in the wings if a bunch of people want to get another game table together. It's not a guarantee that it's going to happen, but I've seen it go down that way plenty of times.

Challenge accepted. Get generics, stop by early and talk to the Room Captain. No promises, but the Room Captains do mighty work in ensuring as many people get to play as possible.

As far as the number of volunteer GMs. It's not entirely the number available, but also how many events CGL can take a risk committing to. Even at the exceedingly high attendance the Events don't necessarily break even for CGL.

I'm not speaking for any other volunteer GMs, but there have been a few occasions where I was planning on just hanging out in the Shadowrun room for a slot and I ended up volunteering to run an extra table of generics for the Room Captain. I don't know if that kind of thing is still acceptable in the policy (I've been a Missions GM for a long time), but you can't run if you don't show up. =i)

We did the last couple years, and I know Ray plans to this year. Space and having an available GM is the real limitation though. I know a handful of GMs stepped up last year and ran extra events.

I've left a few of my mornings free for just that sort of thing -- if folks are up for a game, I'll be there with a GM screen.
