It's been awhile, used to post here some years back.
In any case, I've been staring at my Shadowrun books a lot lately - and I'm looking for a game. Anyone in the Capital Region area of Upstate NY running or even play?

And here I thought that I was the only SR player in Upstate...I'm in the same boat you are, played back in the day and am dying to get back into it. Don't know if the distance is gonna be a problem. I'm more central NY. Shoot me an email and let me know.

I am in Rochester NY and have been looking for players myself. I do not know where in CNY you are in relation to rochester so i do not know about distances.

I live near Syracuse. So, figure an hour to hour and a half form Rochester. I'm just in the process of starting a new group so your timing couldn't be much better. I've got some "intro" stuff planned for this Saturday or the next (not sure which will work).
Unless you GM. I don't have alot of Xp at it, but everyone starts somewhere...

Upstate NY for me is about 15 minutes north of Albany. So read that as about 4 hours from you guys.
Doh!

I wouldn't hold your breath. When I first found this place and did the same thing as you, I was told by a veteran that this "...is sadly one of the most underused forums on the site". That said, in the last incarnation of the DS my post stayed up for over a month. No bumps needed.

Yea, I know. I can hope, though.

Crisis, I'm in Germany now, but I used to live in the Lake George/Saratoga region of upstate. Give me a couple days & I could probably dig up some names/email addresses for you of the guys I used to run with. Are you looking to run or to play?
Also, there's a gaming store called the gamer's Guild in Clifton Circle Mall, or whatever it's called now where there was a group playing - before I got sent to Germany, that is.

Hmm, well I hope you notice this then.
Looking to play, definitely. I've run a few other games before and it's not exactly my strength, nor do I find the time to coordinate entire campaigns.
I've checked out the Gamer's Guild, and been involved in a few random games there from various systems, but the chance of a Shadowrun game getting started there is close to nil. It's not a gaming hub right now, focuses mostly on card games and three-five week one shots.
Thanks,

For north of Albany, I'd check out RPI. Particularly if you're into Sci-Fi or Anime, head to the Sci-Fi club meeting Monday nights (the anime showing starts around 9PM, but I'd get to campus earlier and ask for directions to DCC 308 -- people often gather well beforehand anyways) and sound out people there. I know a few of them would be willing to play again (particularly since my game broke up when I left -- incidently I'm back in Syracuse now). For Rochester I'd check out RIT. I'm not sure how to easily get in touch with the players there, but I know more than a few existed last year.

I'm in Rochester, NY right now. Running a game with mostly new players. Since I have to spend so much time working with them, not really looking for new players right now... however, if the timing was right, I might be interested. Currently running standard storyline upon request from the players (one had read some of the books and wanted to follow them).
As for RIT, I can check it out and let you guys know if there is a Shadowrun group there or not. The last I knew of (about 2 or 3 years ago or so) there wasn't. I'm not on campus as much as I used to be.

Hehe. I suppose I could go back to RPI - I graduated from RPI last May.
I looked a few times there. The gaming club seemed to focus entirely on D&D and their website scared me away
everytime I got myself to look at it. Never tried the sci fi/anime crew, though. Had enough friends into that that we never went to the club.
