that kind of stuff have been around for ages.
a SR trode is much more, as its able to feed sensory data back into the brain.
thats the hard part, the feedback. we have been able to get data out of the body for ages.

And actually, this net just reads blood flow in the brain. All it does is recognize what kind of thinking you're doing.
Real BCI has been done, where the operator thinks about moving the target to the left and the computer detects that and moves the target to the left, but there are still some issues with reception.
